These videos where you improve on one of your students idea and fix mistakes are truly eye opening. The 10-15 minute length is perfect for going over every element and the comparison makes it clear to understand that you are not pulling the final sound out of your hat. It's an iteration on many little things. Please keep this format.
I think a cool take away for this student is that his core song idea was solid! He just lacked the experience to bring it to life, but that's a skill you can learn with time and study.
100% mate, it's a world of difference after Alex put his stamp on it, i always wondered why my music always sounded so dead and lifeless but now I'm understanding that music dynamics and changing sound over time is a critical part of music making. Thanks Alex Rome you're my Hero ❤
that's right. most less experienced producers are actually quite good at writing melodies and chord etc. the challenge is getting the sounds right and balancing them with the other instruments and also using the right amount of processing on these instruments to make them sound good.
Yes for the most part. You have to spend the time picking good sounds and then a lot more time making those sounds fit into your song with strong processing.
The beginner idea is very nice. For everyone hustling as a beginner, this shows how much potential u got. just keep on practicing and try all sort of stuff and sooner or later u will figure it out .. and as all things u never stop learning
That final playthrough literally made me smile. World of a difference. Thank you for taking the time to explain your thought process. The destination is sometimes not as important as the journey.
Alex, I'm crazy proud of you. You should be proud of yourself as well for being able to use your immense knowledge to help others. Makin' your momma proud!
I like the fact that you improved his idea without changing it. Giving the student (and others here) the true perspective for selecting the right sounds for the song to give it that pro sound and feel. Sometimes, it can be infinite choices, but knowing when to stop is key. Excellent!
I instantly started to like that melody once you added the delay, reverb and ott. It's so big difference. Btw: Don't forget to add a side chain to that bass line. ;)
Finally I can compare my sounds to other students cause I doubted myself if something isn't right. Been watching your videos for a long time and everything explained was simple and easily.
Ive been producing for a couple of years now and the first thing I thought was "before anything, this track needs new and improved sounds to it, it sounds flat", 5 seconds later you are doing just that lol this is why I love this channel
It's very rare that I'll comment on production tutorials but this my friend is AAA!! Absolutely class and worlds apart from all the generic posts we seem to bare witness to..!!
If you think this is to have much knowledge the path in front of you is very very long when it comes to music production just saying 😂 you could use the word entertainment... but... It would be the same as if I claimed that I was a expert I grammer... which I obviously isn't...
Really enjoyed this kind of video, great insight in a to the point format, would love to see more of these! Also you always bring the right energy into music production, your enthusiasm really shows!
I've been producing music since i was 15. I believe at one point in my life i got to where i wanted in my production skills. Unfortunetly i went to prison. I did 14, out of those 14 months without making music, but i have been thinking alot about it. Days, and nights i thought about music, and even had a clear picture of a great song in my head and how i would arrange it. I find myself at the halfway house, where I'm alowed to use a cell phone, but not a laptop. Im really excited to get back and making music again, and get updated with everything I've missed in this 14 months.
Omg. This video is awesome. We need more content like this. I've been watching videos about music production in various DAWs, using different plugins, techniques, and approaches for years. But I've never come across anything more useful than this. It's like giving someone a shovel, showing them how to use it and maintain it, but not explaining that to plant a beautiful flower garden, they don't need to dig up the soil so much that it could later fit giant trees-or even make room for their own coffin.
I started tryin to learn production a while back because I’m recording my debut album and other singles, I’ve watched loads of RUclips videos but never quite grasped it. Taking a song like you have and showing why it’s not right seems a lot easier to take in for me. Nice one man.
Incredible. Love these videos and I learn so much from them. Definitely keep this series going because it's so enlightening to see you make such small changes that add up to monumental changes in the sound of the track.
I appreciate how you are not reaching for EQ, Compression or any other "mixing" tool for that matter but actually attack it all at the source. Nice video!
honestly the genres of music I stick to religiously are hip hop/rap/r&b but man are these little techniques helpful! I find myself learning a lot more of my mixing and mastering techniques from people who make house/trance, electronic, techno, and hardstyle music🙏 thank you for all the helpful tips brother!
You're a beast Alex! Must be incredible to have such a handle on how to make these things work! I wonder if we'll ever find out who you ghost produce for.
I always enjoy your videos even though I make totally different music I am more of an REZZ midtempo dark type of music but your techniques are versatile for different genres and they are always inspiring and I am glad you make these videos for all of us thank you
I'm not into this genre at all, but love to see your videos. After learning a lot from ground upnfor a year, I immediately knew what to do and what to improve. Some stuff I've learned from you came in handy while thinking along and definitely helped me improve a lot since the start of my journey. Thanks a lot, keep it 100! :)
Alex is a great teacher, he can dumb down and simplify things and make simple ideas great. His videos popped into my YT feed when I first started producing and have helped me a ton with my production. Especially if you are a beginner and want to grow as a producer, I highly recommend signing up for his course. (No, he did not pay me to say this lol)
Wow these type of vids are exactly what I need to make all my ideas sound so much better.I’m so excited to start making music again after being away for years
I’m taking your course now as a beginner and it’s exactly what i needed to commit. The fundamentals explained clearly because noise distracts me. Its been such a help i had to come comment because when i was considering it i saw loads of negative thoughts on reddit. I think it’s a great place to start after months of RUclips overstimulation. Thank you Alex!!
I just got into Music (like yesterday 😆) and i don't even know any instruments. I just kinda wanna learn how this things work. This is really educational, love the video! 💕
This was fantastic and reminds me that I need to watch everything you've done. You have developed such skill and experience in music that you are a true expert. I look forward to future videos.
Been making techno & breaks etc for 15 years soon but nice to get to the basics from time to time to pull me out from the swamp of writers block. Awesome content!
Actaully a good way of getting my into the producer genre, once I finally get a good DAW. Still learning more on circles of fifths, mixing and melodies as well.
Great video as always Alex! The videos where you improve student's work like this are so insightful. Also really loving the content on your site.. worth the investment for those interested in learning from a really skilled teacher.
wowowowow that was amazing!!!! I am noob and was told I had a learning disable. My musician ex bf couldn't explain anything. One day I want to have a great teacher like you.
Thanks a lot for the video Alex, even though this was supposed to be targeted to help beginners, I found a couple of your tips to be incredibly useful and helpful to hear again! Keep up the good work, love the content!

Amen
You highlighted the most important thing which is selecting the right sounds right from the start. Great video.

9:58 Thats such a major improvement.
That final playthrough literally made me smile. World of a difference. Thank you for taking the time to explain your thought process. The destination is sometimes not as important as the journey.
I almost pressed CTRL+S bro so I don''t lose your changes 😆😂 great work!
Thanks 😅 haha

I learn so much from these type of "fix the mix" videos
I just love how you take the time to explain the small details that makes all the difference.
one of my favorite music production youtubers. clear, concise, informative, and I can tell that you truly love what you do.
Can't stress how much you've helped improve my productions with these videos over the last few years Alex, Thank you!
must have been alot to improve then
I instantly started to like that melody once you added the delay, reverb and ott. It's so big difference.
Btw: Don't forget to add a side chain to that bass line. ;)
Bro no way my inspiring producer and I look alike, I can't cannnn nooot believe this!😍🔥❤️🎧🎵
1:50 in and it’s sounding so much better! This man has the touch of gold!
Finally I can compare my sounds to other students cause I doubted myself if something isn't right. Been watching your videos for a long time and everything explained was simple and easily.
Dude I really liked when you had the house kick and the hip hop kick alternating. I think that would be cool with the track. Great tutorial!
Seconded!
Ive been producing for a couple of years now and the first thing I thought was "before anything, this track needs new and improved sounds to it, it sounds flat", 5 seconds later you are doing just that lol this is why I love this channel

Alex I learn so much from your videos. Thanks so much for the lessons!
Your enthusiasm is so infectious. Love your content brother, keep it up!! 💪
As a Metal/Rock amateur musician & producer your advice is always appreciated. ❤
Working with Alex personally for a few months has improved my music more than years of messing around
I have seen quite a few of your videos, but this was completely mind blowing. More of this please! Fantastic job!
of course! a lot more coming.
Feels almost illegal to have this much knowledge provided for free on youtube
So illegal bro😂
If you think this is to have much knowledge the path in front of you is very very long when it comes to music production just saying 😂 you could use the word entertainment... but... It would be the same as if I claimed that I was a expert I grammer... which I obviously isn't...
Hey Alex. I’ve been watching you for a few years now and I’m really happy to see how you constantly level up. Beautiful!
Really enjoyed this kind of video, great insight in a to the point format, would love to see more of these! Also you always bring the right energy into music production, your enthusiasm really shows!
One of the best videos you've made. You really showed what sound selection and layering can accomplish. 😊

thanks so much for watching even though our styles differ a bit. I do appreciate it.
In my humblest of opinions, you are far underrated! Your videos are well constructed and I can see where you want to help other producers succeed.
would be best if it was people that actually know how to produce that teach.... this is entertainment nothing more
@ he makes good videos. Not saying he is a master producer/ teacher. But it beats a lot of other videos I see on here.
Blessings brother your amazingly talented 🙏
I love how seamless ur work flow is. Effortless. I’d spend hrs to do the same tasks I think
Wow you Frankensteined that track it’s Alive! Now do one of my tracks
That’s awesome , really helpful and informative
Dude , I love your videos , so many things I've learned and you make them so much fun .... great work
8:18 the sound that came from moving that midi note is a melody idea in itself
I'm not into this genre at all, but love to see your videos. After learning a lot from ground upnfor a year, I immediately knew what to do and what to improve. Some stuff I've learned from you came in handy while thinking along and definitely helped me improve a lot since the start of my journey.

Actaully a good way of getting my into the producer genre, once I finally get a good DAW. Still learning more on circles of fifths, mixing and melodies as well.
This is really straightforward and easy to understand, thanks for taking the time to make it. I hope you make more like this.

More videos like these please! I feel like I learned so much.
You gave this dude a hit.
