The true King of the Blues. Bending strings and bending round the Delta and killing the vocals. Smashing our hearts and minds and swaying our sensibilities. Long may you reign❤️
Played the guitar like he was mad at it. So underrated. He did make the rock hall but his live performances were just incredible. Truly the King of the Blues.
I miss seeing 200lbs brothers wearing custom tailored polyester jumpsuits with that aire of " yeah, so goddamn what about it? "....I loved growing up in the 70s.
I like all three King’s voices and SRV. God gave them not only the ability to play blues guitar but also the ability to sing blues. No one else even comes close. Period!
So sad he died at 42. He was a blues beast. A dynamic voice, about didn't need a mic! His music is still so relevant! He just smoked that 335 in this video. I'm grateful that someone had the foresight to save these videos. There are so many greats, but never another Freddy. Sorry Rolling Stone, your numbers are weak. RIP Freddy ❤🎸

No wonder guitar Gods like Hendrix, Clapton and SRV honor him as one of their most important influences. But not only his playing also his vocals - just world class! Not to mention his extreme dynamic arrangement of the slow blues - still audible although youtube heavily compresses everything. I bet, if you were there, it would have been all the range from deafening noise to sudden silence on whisper level. That's what ignites them blues-goose-skin-shivers ...
This intro made me realize that I never gave this unique, underrated musician the credit that he deserves. I will listen to all of his music all over again with my new, appreciative, EAR!!!
FK was so great --- play ----sing -- perform--- his voice was so special !! ----the only blues singer i know that had a 'pretty' voice along with the grit--- he remains i think the greatest blues singer we ever had-- this performance is forever ---RIP FK you were and are forever--- we still listen soul man
In 1973 I saw Freddie perform in Tallahassee, FL. He opened for Tower of Power. Before then, I think the only blues performers I had seen were Johnny Winter and Jeff Beck. I never forgot Freddie's performance.
I saw him in '74, opening for Elvin Bishop in Riverside, CA and Freddie's performance was just as intense as in this video. Definitely my favorite of the three Kings.
Man Freddie was something else! Most of those kids didn't know who Freddie was and one song in he's got them eating out of the palm of his hand. I love the piano/B3 setup great, great band and then there's the Texas Cannonball. I sure hope I go to Blues Heaven!!!
Wow man God sure blessed that man with an legendary voice.... Although king was an incredibly talented blues guitar player, his vocals were even greater than that so thoses 2 talents within one person is what created the musical genius and icon that Freddie king was. His music will still be heard centuries from now and beyond. Gone way too soon big man... Ripeace Freddie King.
