- Why not create your own sampled instrument? It makes a lot of fun, and it is a way easier than some might think. From sampling an analog synth to adding a filter and effects: Dom shows you how to build your own sampled instrument.
And if you have any wishes for future topics of Production Lab, please let us know in the comments.

would like to see more Halion tutorials !!
Nice. 20 year old Emu X3 has auto sampler that sends midi to the synth and captures multiple velocity layers for each note and creates patches from captured samples.. Maybe we can have that in the next update for Halion ;)
🤩 Fantastic Dom, thank you so much!! 😃👍👍
Great as always. Thank you Dom 👍😀
Another great video! Thanks Dom
Great! Thank You😀
Nice video man - I love Halion and it seems (in my opinion) that it get's overlooked more than it should by musicians. It's great to see some videos that bring it's use out of the shadows and into the forefront of producers and musicians!
Thanks a lot for your advice
Great explanation, finally I understood better how to use Halion 7
thanks, very helpful 👌
More? More, more, more.... I hesitate to start create instruments, but it seems this time has gone. Thx a lot for sharing this.
It will be useful to know how to sample the instrument Dinamically. With the velocity that modulate the filter of the Synth for every note and than sampling ;)
Great Dom, thanks. It is a pity. I have Cubase 12 Pro with Halion Sonic SE, and no possible upgrade to Halion 7 unless I buy Halion 7 from the scracht.
I am curious why you didn't simply choose create a midi input track to operate your synth. You cold quantize the midi notes (one per key) and then just play your midi track and record all your synths output at one time. Slice audio and add markers and then export the mixdown with the marker option and you're done. All perfect identical samples starting at the optimal time.
Where do you have this T-shirt from? It's so cool!
This is great but still confused why neither Halion or Kontakt do automatic instrument capture (Like Mainstage does).
Does the "As played" function only work with midi or also with audio?
👍👍👍
How is the Prophet 10 a mono synth Dom? What am I missing here...
Mono, not monophonic 😉
Unfortunately this does not seem to work on MacOS at the moment, I wanted to sample my MicroKorg.
But apparently the recording is not started correctly, so that everything is always empty. The yellow play button deactivates itself every time.
for us newbs I think you should at least explain the differences of performing some of these tasks in cubase vs stand alone. I thrash sometimes to repeat the same process in cubase.
and I love these tutorials - keep them coming - been a HUGE help! :)
This is still very, very rudimentary. After Apple purchased and destroyed Redmatica Keymap Pro and Autosampler, there is nothing on this planet that does the same job.
Yes, they introduced the Autosampler in Mainstage but much, much less powerful than what it originally was, and they made the new Sampler from Keymap Pro, but again it has 20% of available functions.
Redmatica was simply brilliant, incredible how Apple simply killed it, even more incredible how nothing similar exists today.

@@fabrizioassandri9760 Thanks, but not even close.
you can do this with Halion too.
Otherways it's no drama to use a midi Event for this. Halion maps and loops automatically.
@@Byron101_Thanks. What kind of loops it has? Does it have manual loop creation, batch looping, one cycle loops, penrose machine, mobious machine, and forward+backward looping together with crossfades?
