Played well over 20 hours Red Dead 2 now. DirectX 12, no problems, good FPS, full screen and not a single crash. Looks brilliant as well. Witcher 3 and Horizon Zero Dawn played equally well.
I don't understand how he couldn't get 60fps with Witcher 3. I play at 800p, medium settings with high textures and get a stable 60fps. I use Radeon Chill and set the minimum to 59fps and maximum 65fps. This helps stabilize the frames and it helps mitigate the frame stutters.
@@Hubwood I'm using the next gen version. I've tried this method with a few games and it works wonders so far. Did the same for Spider-Man, and both Plague Tale games and I hit 60fps on all 3. Sometimes 64fps.
I was surprised too, on 30W I’ve been averaging anywhere between high 50’s to low 70fps on 800p, low settings w/ dir X 12 playing Witcher 3 next gen. This was after the latest AMD drivers and V28 bios updates, I didn’t run it on the Legion Go before that. I normally play on custom 20W and average low 50 to mid 60fps. I may have missed it but what was the TDP settings for this testing?
Thanks for all the tests! That was super interesting to watch! Just wanted to tell that you can fix the issue with RDR2 by setting the render mode from Vulkan to DirectX 12 in the game's graphics settings. It also runs pretty good, even at higher settings on the Legion Go.
I know it runs good. I just had issues using the different resolutions 🙄 (and I just can't afford to spend like 2-3 hours on a single game fixing it when I'm testing 25 games and editing the video etc. 😅)
@@Hubwood Lenovo Space just got a major upgrade and is out now. You can now Switch between 60hz and 144hz without PSU (It was a bug) and many other things. Another big upgrade soon.

Hi Mr Hubwood sir, I love your videos and was waiting for this one to actually make my decision for Christmas, its eith ROG Ally or Legion Go because we don't have steam deck in my country.

Hey Man, thank you for your videos! Can you pls test & share your experience on LeGo with RSR & Loseless Scaling - this might benefit from using 800p resolution and(perhaps) balanced mode. Also not it is possible to use 6Gb or VRAM set in BIOS...
Nabbed one of these to set up for a friend, and It's crazy how much more "horsepower" the device technically has that just doesn't amount to the performance uplift imagined with the windows bloat, and lack of driver optimization that Valve seemingly can do. In all honesty, 8 cores is overkill, and just means less cache and less bandwidth that would do better to feed 4-6 cores. But it's not custom silicon, so it's understandable to have to use the 8 core for the 12CU count. 800P is ideal for 60fps in most titles, but man it really isn't great looking on the 8 inch screen. the 144hz is practically useless except for extremely light games. You're bascially tweaking for every title you load. What astonished me, is that Windows 11 by default nabs up almost half the bloody RAM with standard 3GB UMA buffer. Just playing Tekken 8 on medium with TSR 75 and it holds 60 for a decent time, then randomly just chuggs. RAM usage was at 97% with a 4GB UMA Buffer. Like, that's nuts. Really hope Chimera OS support gets squared up or even Steam OS gets released. I can only fathom keeping windows for Game pass, or I guess if you wanna play COD? But yeah, paying 1k to basically emulate alright is bit of a swallow.

It looks like the performance for most AAA games still wouldn't reach a stable 60 fps with the Go. That combined with having to run the games at a non-native resolution is a bummer. On the other hand, the Go is compatible with eGPUs via thunderbolt 4. But so is my laptop! Might as well just stick with the SD OLED!
Dont underestimate how good 800p looks on the go. It really does. Or 1200/1600p plus FSR. FSR really shines on these small screens. It looks even amazing sometimes.
