It's still worth trying to apply pressure to MB Australia and MB Germany after you've had to replace the SBC system. All it requires is two simple letters--or maybe a reach out to other Aussies via social media to commence a negative campaign. My mechanic told me the other day that here in Australia the SBC pump assembly costs $5000 or more to replace. It's just not good enough to extend warranty in one market to 25 years while denying it completely to loyal Mercedes-Benz customers in other markets.

Good video , all very true ,,But I would not call the M113 things ,,''faults'' ..you cannot expect rubber parts to last forever. Replacing some valve cover gaskets when they leak after 15 years or 100,000 miles is normal maintenance. The others can often last much longer without any problem , but I would recommend replacing the crank position sensor which also wears out with time.
Great explaining. I wish there are more videos like this that covers all other aspects of other engines. I have a question, so I just recently got an E Klass 4 cylinder 2005 and the from time to time the oil gets mixed with water. The mechanic from the previous owner said it was from the oil coolant and they changed that just right before I bought but obviously it didn’t solve the problem. According to this video is suggests that water can get it from the water pump and I seem to buy that a lot. I just want to confirm is it possible for water to enter into the engine house from a bad water pump on a four cylinder engine?
Hi at 3.50 in the video, it’s mentioned oil entering the cooling system, are these particular water pump o ring seals accessible or does the timing cover need to be removed?? Thanks
When you talk about the leaks and failures, you should mention approximate mileage when they happen. If these leaks are happening at 30-50k miles it would be nice to know.
Thank you for the video, I am struggling with my car engine 6429, W211 2009 E320 CDI V6. I have to drive it slowly and smoothly, otherwise it sort of like halts and jumps intermittently especially after take off at gear 2 and 3 and at high speeds if I accelerate maybe to overtake. The diagnostic test pointed to the Turbo Actuator, which we then replaced but it got worse after that, and now it doesn't even throw any codes, the test comes out clean. Sometimes it does this halting and skipping when it's time to change to the next gear. And sometimes when coming to a stop you feel as though it cuts off power abruptly as if you hit the brakes hard. Just for more info, there is been an oil leak by that Mass Airflow Meter and Turbo. At higher speeds it is better - but if you get to an incline - you can feel an up and down rhythm - pull - brake, pull - brake as if it want to stop then go, stop then go - feels like the car is dancing. What could this be, turbo, airflow sensor, actuator maybe or something else. The car has just been serviced with genuine Merc parts - Engine, Gearbox and new engine mountings - This issue was already there before the service, mileage is 165500km.
@@ronmoret7420 Hey Ron, I didn't come right, however further diagnostics revealed that the Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor overheated and was malfunctioning. This is for the EGR. Does anyone know if the MB replacement agreement on the W211 SBC unit, mentioned applying for a 25 year period by this great channel, also is available in Australia? The large US market seems to be able to force MB to agree to things like funding M272 E350 engine balance shaft cog faults in the USA, while leaving smaller markets like Australia's for users to foot all bills relating to these problems. That said, my W211 350 w SBC brake by wire I find an advanced and enjoyable system--even though at a lowish 105,000 km my mechanic recently commented the SBC pump perhaps sounds a bit louder than he remembers when working on the cars when new. All advice super appreciated! Thank you...

Not actually that dumb of a question, There's a lot more changes than just a supercharger on top of an engine. AMGMeister has a great video ruclips.net/video/Gb32BwQMbho/видео.html that talks about some of the changes between all the M113 engines.
Minor differences, starting with the 210 the only mainstream displacements were 4.3/5.4 vs 211 5.0/5.4. Different ME's, airboxes, I believe 210's had clutched fans and 211s were electric only. NA vs SC, you'll see different displacements, differences in the bottom rotating assembly, a split sump with 2 drains, different belt drive etc.
the biggest difference is compression. m113 has a compression of 11 m113k has a compression of 8. You wouldn’t benefit by puting m113k charger on m113 unless you shave the heads etc, so you need an after market charger. On top of that the ecu of the m113 isn’t designed to go into boost unless you use a piggy back ecu to recirculate that data.

I have a R500. With the M113 engine. It has had all of these oil leaks. I wish I would have known about the gaskets behind the water pump when I was changing it.
guhhh sorry Bryce wish we could have warned you sooner!
@@fcpeuro How often do they fail or at which mileage would be good to replace them at?
did you do it yourself? if so was it hard?
@@kevinlopes548 yes I did all the work myself. This is my 2nd Mercedes with this engine. Just like anything, after you do it once. The second time takes half as long.
@@bryceweaver8211 thats good man! i just bought an 04 e500 4matic..so i was just curious.
my m272 is throwing p0016/017/018/019/391 codes. does it cost much to fix?
What about m113 with 160k miles on it but with a history of the great maintenance? Is it something to stay away from or a good buy?
Great Buy 👍🏾
Damn great video
m112/113 engine been around since at least '98
The 113 has been around since 1997
You guys ROCK
no Ryan... YOU rock!
Life saver dude i swear #w211 the brake pump warranty thing cause i have one.
the M271 4cyl engine has also issues. is there any mercedes engine from 2002 to 2009 *without* faults? 🙄 (diesel included). this was the DaimlerChrysler era, btw. - Greetings from Switzerland!
I suppose you could argue that most engines have their own faults! Thanks for watching, Rimax82!
amazing video i saw oi in my engine bay
What about OM648 , inline strait 6 diesel.
When is the engine diagnostics?
Looking forward to the M113k. I'm getting a weird vibration at low speed, goes away over 35mph... Almost like driveline vibration.
Hopefully you cover that.
Bro engine mounts theres 2 of em look it up
@@WatchoutNSG I though mount are bad if the engine has excessive movement when you hold down brake and press accelerator pedal..
I'll has to take a closer look.....
Could be transmission mount or the driveshaft bearing in the middle
I'll have some troubleshooting to do this weekend. Thank for your input.
I’ve been to 2 dealers and they do NOT want to change/repair my SBC unit
Good video super
I like how he just brushes over the fact that if the rubber timing seals fail, that will allow coolant to enter the crank case. That's a common failure on those engines and the damage is costly!
Slippery slope for sure if you leave it unresolved or undiagnosed
K Digital Production Services ehh to be honest I really haven’t seen that happen much. He had an example there but that seems to be rare. I work in auto salvage and used 112/113 engines are a dime a dozen because they don’t really break. They leak oil, and they have valve train noise if you don’t stay on top of oil changes. That’s about it.
