Yes when you're 25 and single. When you go over 30, are married and have kids, its not that great anymore, missing so many weekends, never being home, missing your kids birthdays and football games etc. It becomes a compromise between qualifying as a pilot or spending time with your family... And its great travelling to places in the beginning but eventually you just want home to your family. Many pilots quit when they get older and go working as an engineer or something like that because of this.

@@LeCamachoTRK - Cool yeah - this was one of the videos that inspired me to add my voice into the RUclips Aviation Community. I launched the channel 6 months later in June of 2013.
Still, after years and watching this (which motivated me to do my best on school again to get my papers which are required) a million times, i still get tears watching it. Aviation is beauty and love.
My sister used to watch this video when being a pilot seemed like an impossible task. Last week she became an ATP and A320 rated pilot. Thank you. Who ever you are, wherever you are, thank you for inspiring her.
My husband has been a pilot for 35 years. Seven years ago, during his transition training from ERJ170 to B737, he watched this video over and over again to keep himself motivated. He told me that it was his favorite video. I am also a former flight attendant. I know how amazing every moment of this video is. He is currently serving as a B737 check pilot. This video is his treasure. And I would like to send a shout out to all Pilots . Thank you for the great video! From JPN✈️
I love aviation more than anything. I want to become a pilot when I grow up and I've watched this video a thousand times. It's really good. The video is only 5 days older than me
You didn't show the "pathway" to life as pilot though. You know Instructing in trainers for hours on end. The sitting on the ramp engines running for two an half hours awaiting a "flow time" to an airport, 35 mins away. (LAS-LAX) Getting to the layover hotel at exactly the same time as ever restaurant in the local area closes and eating the week old Powerbar from your backpack for dinner. But you know what, it's still worth it. (Some days!)
It's certainly not fun everyday, I can find hundreds of drawbacks to the job. However I make videos because I love the job, not because I hate it. To be fair, most of the points I don't like are related to the airline I fly for, not the job itself. The things you mention are North America specific. There's no such thing as instructing for hours on end in Europe, most people start on heavy turboprops and medium jets straight out of school here (the few who are lucky enough to get a job), we almost never taxi for more than 15min, money is usually decent even in the low cost airlines, moving up the ladder is a lot faster than in the US (upgrade, base transfer, ...) and we spend most nights home with family. I have way more time off than I had with my previous non-flying jobs. Drawbacks? Unhealthy working hours, fatigue, not fun to share the flightdeck with someone you don't get along with for up to 12h, things often don't go as planned (take-off slots, tech and pax issues, delays, weather, ...), time pressure, responsibilities, constantly tested (sim rides, line checks, medical, Safa checks, ...), cost of training and licenses, lack of jobs (over 80% of fully qualified European pilots do NOT get a job), ... Still love the job, but that's just me.
+Kelvin “Qikai” Wang Same here- I am 14 and already doing IFR flights on my sim at home to get used to some of the routes that I imagine I would be flying if I become a pilot .
I gave myself a week watching the video. I was a commercial pilot in the corporate arena and stayed away from applying for the airlines due to all the "away" time. I was fortunate enough to fly for hire and able to get home same day most of the time. To each his own.
@@mattolmstead6150 I would say to anyone who is interested in aviation and wants to fly for a living is to become aware of the realities of the endeavor first, such as 1) Obtaining the licenses and ratings necessary for professional flying is expensive, 2) Getting there takes time. No one cares about your newly obtained pilot certificates, employers want experience. Getting that experience usually means becoming an instructor and taking any kind of flying job you can get to build your flight time and the pay during this period of building your flight experience is often very minimal. 3) When you get there be prepared to work odd hours, being away from home and flying bad weather at times. Your passengers will typically have no idea what IFR, wind shear, convection or airframe icing mean. They just want to get to their destination and expect you to get them there just as if you're driving a car. 4) Always remember critical errors can be fatal and there is that possibility something could happen beyond your control. That inherent risk is always an aspect you assume for choosing a career that is a non 9 to 5, non-desk oriented occupational activity allowing you to fulfill your dreams of traversing the brilliant blue and sometimes gray and cloudy skies unlocking the mysteries of professional flying and traveling to interesting places. As a retired corporate pilot my recollection is having to get to the airport early in the morning before everyone else to get the aircraft ready, flying my passengers to their location and having to sit around for hours (often huge downtime. A smartphone would have been a great asset in those days) waiting on the passengers to return for same day flights and often having to go AFTER the weather for the return flight starts going to crap while you're thinking "why couldn't you guys have been ready an hour ago when the weather was fine?" I' ve talked with many other pro pilots and the consensus is usually that flying stopped being "fun" a long time ago. Yet we still must fly. So, that's my point for anyone thinking they might want to fly professionally. Just "wanting" to be a pilot is not enough. It's something you feel you MUST do. And, I suppose that holds true for many other abstract and possibly tenuous career choices. Yet, above all that, I can't think of anything more challenging and thrilling at the same time than professional aviation.
I remember the first time I watched this video; it was probably mid 2015, and I was on my lunch break at my retail job when I stumbled across this. I had no flight time and I was trying to figure out which training avenue to take after almost a lifetime of thinking about flying. 3 years later, I'm watching this again while awaiting my flight instructor checkride and so much closer to flying these jets than I ever thought possible. Been an amazing and immensely rewarding journey so far, and it's fun to come back to this video to remind myself why I started this whole thing in the first place. Thanks for making this, definitely one of the coolest and most inspiring aviation videos on YT. For those of you that want to do this, get out there and start your training! Yes it's expensive, but I can tell you that there are all kinds of ways to finance the journey; just takes a little bit of research. It will be the best decision you make! Especially for those of you that have been bitten by the aviation bug; I promise that the only way to scratch that itch will be to get out and fly :)
Hi, This video is very motivated me. Since you upload this video my ambition get higher. Finally here i am, as a first officer of boeing 737. Believe me guys nothing is impossible. Same as this huge machine can soar above the sky. Keep catching your dreams, Good luck to us all
Thank you so much when I get discouraged from my college workload I watch this to remind me of why I am studying so hard and it reminds me of what all the hard work is for
i will have to become a pilot In future now im 14 years old Note: Now Im decide to become Developer in Flight Simulator but still make a contribution for Aviation
Im 15 years old now, and i can probely fly a boeing 737-8 now! The reason i can fly a plane now because have started to learn the aircraft and fly the aircraft. Its very easy when you learn it and its not that hard. If you want to become a pilot you should start when you are young like now. Its very hard to be a pilot, many years at school and it cost lots of money. I have a dream to be a Pilot and my freinds beliving in me, and i belive in you. Hahaha sorry for my english im working on that :)) Keep up the hard work buddy!
Rewan Salih woah! I'm also 15, a pilot is my dream job! :) where do you start from? Hehe :) I'm studying for school as well as a little bit of aircraft and aviation. :)
This is the life im willing/wanting to have, it looks peaceful and somewhat exciting, new countries, and people not to mention beautiful sights and foods
coolice700 just remember, you won't be living the dream of the public 'til over 30(ish.) But if you love flying, You'll be living the dream the moment you're in the cockpit :D
I m always in awe of the engineering behind it. I work for a major aerospace business jet manufacturer and the complexity of such machines are just unbelievable.
+Ben Right school requirements in my country. top grades in mathematics and English, superb health and politically correct. And you must pass all the tests with highest character..... the shool wants Superman / einstein types. wish I could be a pilot. but I'm probably certainly not smart and strong enough... lol
+InvisibleHighway i want to be a pilot to but it's very hard, the DLR-Test (Wikipedia) is so fucking hard, but my buddie have a homecockpit like a 737 cockpit in his house :D i flew in this sim idk 250 hours? i can start/fly/land a jet but i must pass through all the tests like DLR, Medical 1, English :D i hope i pass this an then i'm happy with 112.000€ per year :D
I remember the day this came out... I was in Sixth form about to take some A Level Exams... A lot has happened to me since this came out, some great and some not so great. But through the good and the bad the one thing that's always kept me going is aviation and my dream of becoming a pilot. The video spurred me on whenever I've needed it. And now over the 3 years later I am training to become a pilot and still using this to drive me forward when the exams get tough. Thank you for making and uploading this, it has done amazing things for many of us aviation enthusiasts
I'm from Kerala, India. I used to watch this video for everyday for energy in the morning after prayer and meditation. One day my dream comes true.........
Fedex feeder pilot here, you have no idea how much I enjoy this video. I've watched it so many times. The music is amazing, and so is the filming. More people outside of aviation need to see this, if this doesn't make your adrenaline pump, goosebumps raised, smile from ear to ear, I don't know what will. My other favorite video is "sky fighters" the song is "into the fire". On the thumbnail of the video, there are two fighter jets. That one is also just as invigorating.
I am a flight attendant and i love my job! I want to thank all pilots all over the world for their outstanding performance! Good flights! Clear skies!!!
Im soooo sorry man!!!! Im sure you have found something even better than a pilot!!! btw can u elaborate more on the color problem, like how did u find out, and how was it before u found out...
In 2013 i had gotten my ppl , finishing high school and dreaming of the job. Long years have gone and now in 2022 , with more than 2k 737 hours,i still come back to keep the motivation high after 90+ hours of flying months...flying the same aicraft to the same places, recognizing them, living it. This video has inspired a generation of collegues!
People just forget how stressful this work could be. But it is COOL ! May be the coolest job for non-celebrities and millionaire. Now imagine how much cooler a fighter jet pilot could be !!
I tend to disagree. I know a ex RAAF f18 pilot who flys the tripple 7 here in Australia.. And he says compared to all the fighter flying he did, constantly pulling Gs, the relaxed flying of the commercial jet is much better. But that's just his opinion!
You get paid to travel the world! I can't believe more students would rather become doctors than this, but everyone is entitled to their choices. I'm on my way to getting a B.S in aeronautics with a focus on commercial aviation, can't wait to get my license and eventually be flying these babies!
Aumed Ramadhan I also think that, as a Pilot you get paid to: travel the world, to have the best office in the world, not scheduled timetables of work, you don't have Homework(simulators could be (studying)), and the best is that you feel free, no like a rock in the ground, but better, with this job you can attract girls very easy 😉
@@brunocascardo3327 You don't have homework ? How about meteorology, air regulations, navigation, all the theory behind ? And you have to be pretty desperate to choose your job according to its attractiveness towards girls. Besides, say farewell to your family life.
@@sanantonio855 it depends International Pilots have a Lot of free Time (sometimes a week free) And what i say about the girls was very stupid (i was like a Virgin😂) And yes i know that you have to study a Lot

Watching this 9 years later, I truly reminisce. I used to watch this all the time back in high school and have used this as an inspiration to become an airline pilot. Now I am an ATP living the dream! Thank you for all the amazing content
Hi, I'm a 17 year old ALevel student. My whole life I've wanted to be a pilot, to fly for any airline is the greatest dream of mine, but I have one small problem...... Don't you need a lot of money to become an airline pilot? My budget is tiny, my family is working class and try hard to save but we just cannot afford the extortionate prices to train for an airline pilot... Is there ANY way I can achieve not only my goal but my dream? Can anybody tell me of any scholarships, sponsorships or anything to achieve a pilot with a small budget! Please ~Thomas
Thomas Bowdler nothing is impossible ...try to find a sponsor or if ur home is near to an urban core...try to get a loan...or start saving today.study hard.get a job that somewhat pays well...use savings and loan amt to fund pilot training....keep searching for ways..don't give up...cheers mate
Just take out a loan, that's what I'm doing. My family isn't filthy stinking Donald Trump rich and you'll notice when you get into the industry, nobody else is either. You will need to pay it back and live on a tight budget for a few years while making a lower salary but if you can suck it up and make some sacrifices you'll make it. Besides, who cares if you make a low salary in the beginning? You get paid to FLY. That's pretty rad in and of itself. It's your dream isn't it? It sure as shit beats sitting in an office on a computer or flipping burgers for a living. Keep motivated, think about how great it's going to be in 10 or 15 years when you're flying a 787 making over 250k a year. You can do it, I can do it, anybody can do it. You just gotta have that "I am a fucking boss and this whole planet is my playground" mentality. Best of luck to you.
Find an Airline that has a Cadet pilot programme, the airline will cover you for all the training expenses and once the training is done you must work for them for a few years as a contract and after that you can be promoted to a captain and so on
YRBOY TEN Obviously some things will be different, but for the most part, it's the same thing. It's still just a plane no matter how you break it down. The airline will train you on its procedures and you'll likely earn a type ratings for their specific plane. It's not like you just get hired from flying F-16s and then immediately tossed into a Boeing 737 on your first day at work and then get fired for not knowing how it works.
This year I finish college, and then gonna start the Flight Academy here in Norway...I see the pays are very nice, but what about the work time ? You could end up with some really stupid flights.Anyway it seems very awesome to do that, and the company paying for your food and drinks and all shit while you are away is just killer.Really looking forward to that!
Conex Xenon Most airlines only require a bachelors degree in any subject. You could get a bachelors degree in basket weeving and be qualified by most airlines standards. What they care about is #1: flight experience #2: ratings and #3: how much of a sheep you are. If have enough experience, have the right ratings, and are willing to completely give up all your personal freedoms and bow down to them in every way possible, then they'll hire you.
Well in germany, you need "Abitur" to the "Pilot-Education" the Abitur is equal to 12 years of school on the "gymnasium" path... I m not on that path and will only get a "Fachhochschulreife" Which means you can only study engineering on any college, but not study on a University(medicine, biologie, law, psychology and so on) Only things they offer on a engineering college.... And having Abitur when applying for the Pilot-Education is the requirement.. Also you will have to go throught entry tests first.... So if i would get a bachelors-degree... I would automaticly get the Abitur-degree and Could apply for the Pilot-Education..... depends if i would even get invited and pass the entry tests....

Ofcourse my boss wasnt very happy catching me on youtube playing this vid everyday but i didnt care :) its what kept me going back then... Today i am a captain on A320. I am 13 and currently taking flying lessons at my local airport. I want to be an airline pilot when I'm older, but i can't stop thinking if pilots will be replaced by computers by the time I'm 25 or so. Anyone who knows a lot about computers and stuff?

This video is probably my favorite video ever. It served as motivation for the last 10 years...5 days ago I finally became an A320 F/O. Thank you.
AW YEAH! BEST JOB IN THE WORLD!
nope
yup
I dunno, I think like the naval aviators a little bit better.
Very Very True 👍🏻
YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE THE BOEING 737-800
This is why I love aviation.
The epic music is part of the experience.
From JPN✈️
Never get bored watching this video :)
Great footage combined with proper music always creates wonders. Have a safe flight !
I remember watching this as a teenager and wondering what it would be like. Just got hired at a legacy airline. Time Flies, enjoy your
Journey 🤙🏻
I love aviation more than anything. I want to become a pilot when I grow up and I've watched this video a thousand times. It's really good. The video is only 5 days older than me
Haha great video! I'd love to make a similar video one day! :D
Me too!
Aye!
You will!

You didn't show the "pathway" to life as pilot though.
You know Instructing in trainers for hours on end.
The sitting on the ramp engines running for two an half hours awaiting a "flow time" to an airport, 35 mins away.
(LAS-LAX)
Getting to the layover hotel at exactly the same time as ever restaurant in the local area closes and eating the week old Powerbar from your backpack for dinner.
Live from the Flight Deck
K
+Live from the Flight Deck over 80% of all fully qualified european pilots dont get a job??? are you serious?! :O

+Kelvin “Qikai” Wang Same here- I am 14 and already doing IFR flights on my sim at home to get used to some of the routes that I imagine I would be flying if I become a pilot .
To me flying for an airline would be fun for about 1 month. I prefer flying Single Pilot around the world. Cool Vid :)
I gave myself a week watching the video. I was a commercial pilot in the corporate arena and stayed away from applying for the airlines due to all the "away" time. I was fortunate enough to fly for hire and able to get home same day most of the time. To each his own.
@@sngwrter49 I want to be a pilot but want to stay local to where I live. I was thinking regionals? Or flying private jets would be cool as well.
I almost read Cool vid as covid
And this video was done in a Ryanair 737 it is about 5% of the reality.
I wanted to be a pilot... but after watching this video I WANT TO BE A PILOT!
go for ur dream
Thx :)

Hi, This video is very motivated me. Since you upload this video my ambition get higher. Finally here i am, as a first officer of boeing 737. Believe me guys nothing is impossible. Same as this huge machine can soar above the sky. Keep catching your dreams, Good luck to us all
Пожалуй, лучшее видео которое я когда-либо видел.
Reason i like this video: it is the best in the world.
Reason i do not like this video: too many people will be competing with me to become a pilot.
😀
Hahahahahahahaha yes this is true ....
😂😂😂 yes this is true
Report the video, everyone! 😂😂😂
The pay is absolutely stupid though like $1500.. Like really? I can get more than that by working at mcdonalds.
not in the UK...
I wanted to be a Doctor... but after watching this video, I WANT TO BE A PILOT !
Same here :)
Thank you so much when I get discouraged from my college workload I watch this to remind me of why I am studying so hard and it reminds me of what all the hard work is for
i will have to become a pilot In future now im 14 years old
Note: Now Im decide to become Developer in Flight Simulator but still make a contribution for Aviation
wish you luck boi!!!!!!
Dude listen, fucking go for it and give it your hardest, study hard.
Go for it!!!
Meg Cyl if you live in the U.K. We have a program called the air cadets that is an extremely good thing to say to an employer of that airline
This is the life im willing/wanting to have, it looks peaceful and somewhat exciting, new countries, and people not to mention beautiful sights and foods

Back for my weekly viewing of this amazing video!!!
I don't suppose you could make a video on how you became a pilot??
I could, it's actually a pretty good idea. I'll see what I can do
I would really love to see that too! and how long it took you to get to the airlines
+Ben Right school requirements in my country. top grades in mathematics and English, superb health and politically correct. And you must pass all the tests with highest character..... the shool wants Superman / einstein types. wish I could be a pilot. but I'm probably certainly not smart and strong enough... lol
+TJ TJ What country do you live in? The third reich?

Best job in this whole universe 😭♥️
Fedex feeder pilot here, you have no idea how much I enjoy this video. I've watched it so many times. The music is amazing, and so is the filming. More people outside of aviation need to see this, if this doesn't make your adrenaline pump, goosebumps raised, smile from ear to ear, I don't know what will. My other favorite video is "sky fighters" the song is "into the fire". On the thumbnail of the video, there are two fighter jets. That one is also just as invigorating.
I wanted to be a Programmer... but after watching this video, I WANT TO BE A PILOT !
Allah ywafgik :D
Be both, that's how i like it :)
***** wow nice!
Wtf same always dreamt of doing cs and becmin a software engineer now im workin on my instrument ratings lol
What a great video!!
I don't "want" to be a pilot,but I "will" be a pilot.
Beutiful. I think I cried..
I am a flight attendant and i love my job! I want to thank all pilots all over the world for their outstanding performance! Good flights! Clear skies!!!
i cant stop watching this i can't wait for my future!
awesome bro!!!! ive always wanted to become a pilot too and one day both of us will be flying!!!
i have always dreamed of being an airline pilot but then i discovered that my slight color problem in my eyes kept me from being one.
Im soooo sorry man!!!! Im sure you have found something even better than a pilot!!!
btw can u elaborate more on the color problem, like how did u find out, and how was it before u found out...
Watched this video in 2013, now watching this video in 2024 as well. Like the comments if you're still watching this video in 2024. ❤
This is my life ♡
No army ! more Fly !♡
The best job in the world !
Nice vidéo and good music, thank you.
People just forget how stressful this work could be. But it is COOL ! May be the coolest job for non-celebrities and millionaire. Now imagine how much cooler a fighter jet pilot could be !!
Agreed.
Bruce Dickinson seems to manage OK.
I tend to disagree. I know a ex RAAF f18 pilot who flys the tripple 7 here in Australia.. And he says compared to all the fighter flying he did, constantly pulling Gs, the relaxed flying of the commercial jet is much better. But that's just his opinion!
I'm just wondering Is there any air conditioning in the cockpit?
Trevor Short of course
+RocketsGaming the question is do fighter jets have air conditioning because that can be something that weighs the jet down.
Yeah, they do. Leased the F4s did. Dunoo about the F-18s.
Cursingprawn85YT yes there is.

Keep coming back to this motivating childhood video, 11 years later I am now certified UPS First Officer for UPS MD-11.
Piloting an airplane is the closest to being a starship captain.
Mau Jo no.
Mau Jo no. Being an astronaut is.
@@blumac9801 Probably not even that. I think being the commander of a Navy destroyer/ship like the U.S.S Zumwalt would be the closest thing.
There is a thing called a astronaut
You get paid to travel the world! I can't believe more students would rather become doctors than this, but everyone is entitled to their choices. I'm on my way to getting a B.S in aeronautics with a focus on commercial aviation, can't wait to get my license and eventually be flying these babies!
Aumed Ramadhan Good luck! There are actually many more advantages to being a doctor than pilot I think (IDK about them myself, I'm just assuming).
@@sanantonio855 it depends
International Pilots have a Lot of free Time (sometimes a week free)
And what i say about the girls was very stupid (i was like a Virgin😂)
And yes i know that you have to study a Lot
The 737 is my favourite plane. I never really had a thing for Airbuses.
FENTON favorite *
Same Boeing is way better than Airbus
Well I love the double decker Airbus
It's my opinion Boeing and airbus is best
I watched this video 5 y ago, head full of dream... And never stopped watched this video every time i could.
Life continued, with hard and good times... And i looked your video once again. Only change is that i am now a Fisrt Officer.
And your video still continue to amaze me !
Thank you, you have been a great motivation for me !
I would want nothing more than to be a pilot.
do it! best decision I've ever made.
Tyler Earnest I`m like 15 years old and my lifetime wish is to become a pilot at Lufthansa or Lufthansa Crago :D It may be hard but i will try as hard as possible.

This would be heaven for me
Watching this 9 years later, I truly reminisce. I used to watch this all the time back in high school and have used this as an inspiration to become an airline pilot. Now I am an ATP living the dream! Thank you for all the amazing content
I wish my regional fed me the breakfast you had though ;)
MylesMCL but are the controls diffrent from fighter jets and planes?
SÓ eu do Brasil?

This year I finish college, and then gonna start the Flight Academy here in Norway...I see the pays are very nice, but what about the work time ? You could end up with some really stupid flights.Anyway it seems very awesome to do that, and the company paying for your food and drinks and all shit while you are away is just killer.Really looking forward to that!
Lol no way i could becomea pilot with my school education... they only take the best.....
Conex Xenon You'd be surprised my friend, don't count yourself out just yet.
They also grade you on loads of medicals, and you also have to be very calm in sticky situations
I watch this every time when my motivation for studying the ATPL subjects is low, and it always helps! Thanks a bunch!
This is absolutely awesome! I wish I can become an Airline Pilot too! :))
