Oh my goodness, I flew with you a few months ago. I was your purser. I had no idea you have a channel. You are such a nice captain. These days, you never know what you are gonna get. You were so professional and kind. Thank you. I love seeing such a family man, kind and efficient with briefing. I’m definitely going to subscribe. My man loves when I fly with a captain I feel safe flying with. Thank you
I just subscribed to the channel. Currently I’m a police officer in the Phoenix area but looking to follow my dream of becoming a commercial major airline pilot. I’m gonna be 36 in august and decided to take the chance! Any thoughts or feedback captain would be greatly appreciated!

The Buzz Aldrin story reminds me of when I was working a commercial booth at Oshkosh. It was slow on the last day of the show. A distinguished looking gentleman stopped by, curious about our satellite communications product. For about twenty minutes we had a very nice conversation about the satellite business. I never let on that I knew who he was. He never let on that he knew I knew who he was. No selfies, no autographs, just a very nice conversation with the last man to walk on the moon.

My condolences to you and your family. I am sure he was a great man and he had a great career and was able to see the world and live life to the fullest. Just remember that most people don't get that chance. May his soul rest in peace 🙏🏽

I am from Newark, I watched all your great content and then it hit me when I heard your cockpit radio voice! Your content, flight experience and service has been greatly appreciated by all of us! Anyone from Newark knows this voice your getting home! I remember flying him a few times and back then he fought some rough ass turbulence with skill and made us all feel safe. You make great content captain!
It's nice to see someone talking about the realities of the job. Commuting is an essential part of the equation for so many pilots in order to make the job work, yet it's at the least a major pain, and very often a nightmare when weather, delays, or full flights prevent you from getting home and seeing your family. It's not something that should be taken lightly, but certainly a perk of the job....because who would ever want to live in Newark, NJ!
Great job giving that man the opportunity to converse with you despite how tired you were. Most of the greatest humble personalities have no ego so they tend to appear as “normal” people. Buzz Aldrin is a great example of a person who has achieved greatness, but will always consider himself a student.

You are next to an impossible man, they do not make your kind anymore. You got up early Iron your clothes, with all your accomplishments and all the responsibilities you signed up for. Your videos are getting better and better. I love the combo of actually showing the layovers, as well as insights into airline schedules and lifestyle, in the cockpit, and even the passenger briefing. I'm hoping to go to the airlines soon after the military, and I love these videos.
That quote you said at the end “Everything comes at a cost”. That really hit me. I’m a few weeks away from my private pilot checkride with the end goal of stepping foot into a United Airlines cockpit one day. Your videos are always so inspirational and is helping me move forward in my flight training to one day, hopefully, fly side by side with you. Loved the Buzz Aldrin story. In December 2005 there was a dedication ceremony at Santa Monica Airport of the Douglas DC-3 mounted on a pole. Major aviation figures were to be there including Bob Hoover and Buzz. I figured it would be one of my best opportunities of all time, to meet Buzz. Brought along an authentically signed photo of Neil Armstrong I had purchased at Long Beach flea. Finally got the courage to walk up to seated Buzz and introduce myself. Clumsily. Showed him photo of Armstrong and asked "Do you know this guy"? He laughed. Then I mumbled unsteadily, "Buzz would you mind signing this TO ME, on the backing? It's not for sale, ever, will be a family heirloom" I nervously gushed. He was very gracious and signed with the date and place AND, most interestingly, wrote "103rd anniversary of Kitty Hawk". He didn't have to do that. And charmingly, it was actually the 102nd anniversary!! Deceased astronaut Virgil "Gus" Grissom's nephew was there and he filmed my meeting with Buzz. Wow, what a day. I learned to fly in Miami in 1978 a 23, got my private ticket in a 152 and after 94 hours total in the log book hung it all up as it got to be an expensive pastime. In 1980 the pilot demand/hiring situation was not anything like it is now or perhaps I would have gone the airline pilot route. The times were different. Envious of you Paul, except for the constant very early mornings that pilots and flight attendants both seem to accept as a major part of their lives. As others on here have mentioned, your constant positive attitude, admirable general curiosity about the physical world, and genuine friendliness towards all, despite the difficulties of the job, are amazing to watch. Great video! I commuted from the SW to MSP for 25 years. Liked MSP so much bought a condo near the airport and keep an airplane at KSGS. Retired now, time goes fast. Btw, was a UAL "570" but didn't cross the picket line in '85 and flew elsewhere.
This is one of my new favorite channels! My end goal is to be an airline pilot as I’m currently working on my commercial and every time I lose motivation, I come watch one of your videos!
Just discovered your a channel these past days and been obsessed with your videos and your journeys. As someone who love aviation I’m loving the content and makes me even more jealous that you get to be a pilot for a commercial airline.
Awesome video as usual, definitely correct statement there's such a blessing being able live where you want and doing a wonderful career that you enjoy. Blue skies & Tailwinds 🤜🏾🤛🏻
I really enjoy watching these videos, it gives so much insight into the fun and trips you have, while other content creators focus on more technical aspects. I like both. The combination has overcome my fear of flying. I'm not partisan in favour of one company or other - hope OK to also say that the behaviour of an American Airlines captain on my flight from Chicago to London this summer was outstanding and his excellent leadership made a scary situation manageable. There was a RWY closure after we boarded, all RWYs! Due to lightning. He showed his presence. I think company or at least ground was inclined to keep us to the next day, yet he decided he really wanted to get us out and as soon as RWY open, managed to get us out during a small window before it closed again. Ex military I think. We took off over the lake with electrical storms out the window. Severe turbulence. Yet his explanation made me confident he knew what he was doing. Kudos to all Captains out there
love your channel Paul! I am a corporate pilot in MMU close to EWR, nice to see the differences between our jobs, although I know the airline world as I started my career there. Keep the great videos!
Paul, I love your videos. Thanks for taking us along on your trips. My wife is an FA based in EWR. I occasionally go with her on her trips and hope to meet you some day.
There you are,I was just thinking hey haven’t seen a video from you in a bit. Just love your content and personality. I am afraid of flying but feel at ease about it whenever I watch your videos. Your style of storytelling is super warm and genuine. Thanks so much for sharing it with us ❤.
Hi Paul. I’ve watched a lot of your videos and you’ve inspired and motivated me to pursue my aspiration to become an airline pilot. Thank you for providing quality and content and keep them coming!
Great video -- I'm signed up! I'm a former private pilot with an instrument rating, so I love everything about flying! It's really interesting, the lives of pilots and flight attendants -- something quite different!
Loved the vlog. Your commute for work is still cheaper than driving back and forth an hour each way for a month. I use more in fuel than your stays in a hotel. Just as a point of reference. I really like how you present your self and airline Captain. Stay safe and blue side up.
This video really solidified what I want to be in the future. I was on the fence on whether I should become a pilot or doctor, and even though commuting might look like a pain I know I would enjoy every single aspect of being a pilot! Thanks for the videos!
Ha-interesting! I was in the same position, but went down the medicine path. Definitely not as much adventure in medicine as in the airlines, but generally speaking (non-US here) you have a lot of say in what specialty you want to end up in and where you live. And attending conferences take you around the world instead! 😂 best wishes in what you end up choosing
Wow Paul! Your videos getting more amazing every time. All the work you put into them does not go unnoticed! Not only are you inspiring aspiring pilots like Jacklyn, you also inspire pilots like me who have been doing the job for over 27 years! The quality of your videos combined with your genuine insights bring a beautiful light into what we do. Thank you for providing me with such gratefulness for what we do! From your biggest fan! 🙌🏼
I'm a former continental/ United flight attendant I commuted 38 years from Orlando to Houston. Is watching your video puts a knot in my stomach. I'm retired now I lost so much time commuting I'm enjoying staying home

Love the 757- spent 10 years flying em over here in the U.K. one of the reasons I went long haul was to “ de complicate “ my life and of course , it’s only one sector , ever
Grandson, got to meet and chat with him today, and I also see per vids how well polished he is. Hope they see one another again, so my grandson can pick up lots of tips in his quest to become an airline pilot.
This video is so inspiring for me I have already had a passion for flying planes ever since I was six years old when I was 10 years old I got to fly an airplane because it was just me and the pilot but I just wanted to say keep up the great videos
You had me at Jiu Jitsu. I also fly for work and train when I can. I love it... but I feel like I'm starting over every time coming back after trips. (It's difficult to have a pilot/ jiu jitsu life) Good on you for getting after it in the middle of a rotation!
@@Payton_oh Cool man. It’s tough to train consistently and be a pilot. I fly charter so it’s definitely a challenge. I also roll super chill because of the physical requirements of the job/ needing all limbs to be working 100%, can’t have concussions, etc. I almost quit Jiu Jitsu because of these things. But then realized I’d rather roll chill, inconsistently, and be quick to tap, then not train at all. As far as flying goes- Getting to the “good career flying” part is tough. I’d consider myself a seasoned pilot. But I’m a 2 year while belt. And I think flying is similar to Jiu Jitsu- Keep going past the point where everybody else would quit and push through the setbacks and discouraging times. Keep your eye on the end goal. There are no unreasonable goals… only unreasonable timelines. Everybody is hiring right now, so you’re in a good spot. But even if things turn, if you love it, keep going. I really can’t speak for the Jiu Jitsu thing. But as far as learning to fly… again similar to jiu jitsu- Enjoy the process, study, drill, practice flows, realize discouragement is a healthy part of the process, swallow your pride, keep your ego in check, backseat flights if you can. Take charge of your own training/ learning. Don’t expect everybody to spoon feed you. Breathe. Just. Keep. Going.
I’m a retired airline pilot, enjoy watching your videos I excelled in layover. Just one comment I made it point of being more original and never said sit back relax and enjoy your flight.
Great and mind-blowing content, I admired your family-work-life- balance lifestyle. I always wanted to be a pilot, but the war in my mother land (Sierra Leone) turned my dream upside down, resulting in me doing me something else..... Keep the great work and keep the great content coming.
Hey Capt., new subscriber here from IAH area. Great to see this channel and can't wait to dive into more of your videos. Very good friend of mine is a Triple Seven Captain for you guys based at EWR also, he loves his commuting as well, well most of the time. 😄
Great video! As a dispatcher it is always fun and enlightening to see what y’all really do on your trips and everything involved in that. 20:41 Proof positive that math skills are not needed for you to fly.
1. Awesome, Awesome work! 👍👍 2. Buzz Aldrin?!?! Are you kidding me? How did that not come up while you were trying to choke me out with your Viking thighs? 3. Warm cup of soup.. super sweet. Thank you.. Did chatGPT write that for you? 😉😂
i grew up in Long Beach, and my mom and dad took me to see the Dominator about 1 week after it grounded. The grain onboard was off loaded on the "floor" of Long Beach Port, where all the local birds ate well and became obese. Over 60 years ago.
Really enjoy your channel and videos Paul. I’m also a pilot flying longhaul around the world and it’s great to see your production quality and brilliant story telling inspire a new generation of pilots. It’s the new way of showing them the flight deck and our life in this post-911 world. Keep it up and if you’re ever in Hong Kong track me down, I’ll show you some hidden sights.
I admire your skill & professionalism. I think the risk of missing a flight added by the cost of hoteling in the NYC area is so scary. Plus (as you mention) weather.....snow, sleet, ice, severe T-storms....yikes. Best of luck in your career
Good story about Buzz...had you only known who he was, I'm sure that conversation would have been entirely different. Every time I'm on a flight and I see a pilot commuting, I never talk to him/her because I know that they are tired and need rest. But, as a guy that drives Cessna 172 on the weekends, I will always be curious about your experiences flying the 757 rocketship.
Your videos are great, Paul. Thanks for taking the time to shoot, edit and publish. I used to work for British Airways part time and teach maths part time, but now I just teach. A little trick for you: if you’re multiplying a big number by a small number, sometimes it might help if you half the big number and double the small number, so, for example… 140 x 4 = 70 x 8 (Effectively, you’re simply converting 140x4 into 70x2x4, but then multiplying the 2×4 first before multiplying by 70. You can simplify further if so desired and use this technique for various numbers.)
I am in ground school for Skywest. After a grueling week getting ready for week two feeling defeated LOL. This video was what I needed. Very inspiring!!

Thank you for sharing your positive and grateful outlook on life. Enjoy watching your family as well! Keep up the good work
Just discovered your a channel these past days and been obsessed with your videos and your journeys. As someone who love aviation I’m loving the content and makes me even more jealous that you get to be a pilot for a commercial airline.
Your videos truly bring me a sense of comfort and help me immensely with my fear of flying. Keep doing what you do. Thank you!
Awesome video as usual, definitely correct statement there's such a blessing being able live where you want and doing a wonderful career that you enjoy.
Blue skies & Tailwinds
🤜🏾🤛🏻
Kudos to all Captains out there
This is so interesting and something most of us never knew. You have positive and happy energy 🙏🏻
love your channel Paul! I am a corporate pilot in MMU close to EWR, nice to see the differences between our jobs, although I know the airline world as I started my career there. Keep the great videos!
MMU is my home airport
Paul, I love your videos. Thanks for taking us along on your trips. My wife is an FA based in EWR. I occasionally go with her on her trips and hope to meet you some day.
Ok, the Buzz story got the sub! Nice content Sir! Thank you for keeping us safe in the air! Former road warrior myself.
What an awesome video! The storytelling is awesome. I know you are putting a freak effort on this, congratulations, greetings from México .
I love that you train jiujitsu while being a pilot. I am a purple belt pursuing being a pilot as well. Enjoy your content!
These videos are awesome. I love the look at the logistics and behind the scenes. Thanks so much!
At 2:15 the BEST barista! I showed her this clip this morning and she was very excited.
Oh good! I haven’t been back since I posted this.
That’s so cool of you!
Just found you and immediately subscribed. Never happened before, but your personality resonates with me. Good job, Cap. Keep at it.
This is so inspiring, I have always loved the 75. You really are living life to the best. Thank you for sharing this with us.
This video really solidified what I want to be in the future. I was on the fence on whether I should become a pilot or doctor, and even though commuting might look like a pain I know I would enjoy every single aspect of being a pilot! Thanks for the videos!
Just move to base, problem solved! As a doctor you may face relocation as well, can't commute to a hospital job!
Amazing Buzz story! Thank you so much for sharing this. Your delivery was perfect and I laughed. I love Apollo history and the men of Apollo so much.
This inspires me a lot to keep on going.I’m already halfway through my flight training and one day hope to fly with you!
Hopefully SriLankan Airlines will recruit you
@@deepalperera4592 🤷🏻♂️🌝
my uncle is based in JFK and commutes from MSP.. love watching your videos, you and sara maika are my inspirations for being a pilot vlogger
You just seem like such a sincerely nice guy. Bless your heart. Fly safe. 🙏🏻
thanks for sharing your layover life paul, inspires the heck out of me. just casually talking to buzz aldrin about flying, what a life
I'm a former continental/ United flight attendant I commuted 38 years from Orlando to Houston. Is watching your video puts a knot in my stomach. I'm retired now I lost so much time commuting I'm enjoying staying home
Good for you!! It’s definitely the most stressful part of the job.
Cool video as always Paul! It's good to see that even when you're flying and "working" you are still engaging in life, meeting people, exercising and checking out interesting places!! I love it! You're super cool! Thank you for sharing.👏👏👏👏👏👍
I really enjoyed your video, great editing + storyline , and super entertaining + informative.
Another great video Capt. Don't know how you find the time to make the awesome content and work and all but it's very appreciated!
You have an awesome vibe! Thanks for sharing it with us! 🤘🙏👍
Hi Captain Paul👋🏼I really enjoy all your videos…you have such a positive attitude and I truly appreciate your viewpoint and talent for capturing the beauty of the places you go. Thank you for bringing us along with you! Safe travels to you, always! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼💕💕💕
Super cool video! Cool to see behind the scenes. Love the bloopers! Love Chevy! ❤️
Just discovered your channel. Hope you do a lot more of this style video. Your production quality is insane for someone not formally trained. Bravo.
Love the 757- spent 10 years flying em over here in the U.K. one of the reasons I went long haul was to “ de complicate “ my life and of course , it’s only one sector , ever
Love your videos, I've re-watched all of them all the time. So glad for this one. Keep it coming!!
Please don't stop I love it makes me want to be a pilot just like you
You had me at Jiu Jitsu. I also fly for work and train when I can. I love it... but I feel like I'm starting over every time coming back after trips. (It's difficult to have a pilot/ jiu jitsu life) Good on you for getting after it in the middle of a rotation!
Just started flight school, also just got my blue belt and I’m feeling like I’m going to lose it all on my journey to be an airline pilot 😅
Breathe. Just. Keep. Going.
Long haul Blue Belt checking in.
@@KarmaFlight Nice man! Do you bring a gi with you? Or do any no-gi stuff on the road?
@@ashwilliams93 Just No Gi as I am on the 747 flying long trips so, it's too much to lug around the planet.
I’m a retired airline pilot, enjoy watching your videos I excelled in layover. Just one comment I made it point of being more original and never said sit back relax and enjoy your flight.
I’m still refining my announcements. I’ll work on it.
Haha!!
Gotta love our snow storms 🤣 this was interesting to watch the behind the scenes of a pilot. Thank you!
1. Awesome, Awesome work! 👍👍
2. Buzz Aldrin?!?! Are you kidding me? How did that not come up while you were trying to choke me out with your Viking thighs?
3. Warm cup of soup.. super sweet. Thank you.. Did chatGPT write that for you? 😉😂
Haha!! So great meeting you guys. I guess I never mentioned Buzz because I was worried you were going to murder me on your first day. 😂
youre such a great guy thank you for service
i grew up in Long Beach, and my mom and dad took me to see the Dominator about 1 week after it grounded. The grain onboard was off loaded on the "floor" of Long Beach Port, where all the local birds ate well and became obese. Over 60 years ago.
That’s amazing. There’s not much left of it now.
Thanks for another great video. The topic is super interesting
A little trick for you: if you’re multiplying a big number by a small number, sometimes it might help if you half the big number and double the small number, so, for example…
140 x 4
= 70 x 8
(Effectively, you’re simply converting 140x4 into 70x2x4, but then multiplying the 2×4 first before multiplying by 70.
You can simplify further if so desired and use this technique for various numbers.)
I am in ground school for Skywest. After a grueling week getting ready for week two feeling defeated LOL. This video was what I needed. Very inspiring!!
How did it go in training?
@@gringoloco8576 Skywest has the best training. It went awesome! Now I am flying for a major airline.
Yeah, how about an update?
ive recently deceided to become a pilot just trying how to start my career and ive been watching your video i get exicted because it looks fun to be a pilot and you get to travel the world
Amazing, inspiring video! Thank You for this masterpiece! 😊
Also, the gig at 9:55 got me 😂
Hi Paul, Yet again an amazing vlog. Absolutely love when you upload a new vlog as I know it’s going to be fantastic. Please keep them coming. Now United are flying from SFO to BNE where I live would love to show you around my neck of the woods downunder. I think you would enjoy yourself. Stay safe mate.
This is incredibly well done, love your videos!
My wife is fa based in sfo. The commute is real challenging and rewarding. Great vlog
This was really eye opening for me. As an aspiring pilot I was always worried about the concept of only being limited to the airliners or operations around my living area, but seeing that some people work for ops from the other side of the world sort of opens my options
Your commuting style is perfect! So many choose the last option and miss it.. that sucks for ops. Nice videos!
