@@PapaPadde Hi Patrick! Vielen Dank!
That’s a great point. On approaches right at mins(especially higher mins), I’ll leave landings lights off to pick up approach light’s easier. I’ll have the FO turn them on most of the time after we have the runway in sight. Below 1000 RVR at night, landing lights can be more of a hindrance and I’ll leave them off. It’s an underrated technique on night landings.
@@CaptainFullHD On a cat 3 approach with DH you say continue or go around at DH, depending if rwy is in sight or not. On a cat 3 approach without DH a continue callout at 100 ft is standard operating procedure regardless if rwy/approach lights are in sight or not!
Wow! Talk about having faith in your instruments and appearing calm and confident at the same time, this Captain did it all.
Thank you!
I think I was more nervous that he was.
That’s what’s simulators and training are made for.

@ Schade, auf dem A320 klappt es sehr gut. Danke, ebenso und viel Spaß in Dubai. Bin diese Woche auch da gewesen 😀.
Bear in mind that in dense fog conditions, the air is almost completely still, at under 5 knots.

Turn your landing lights off, and you can see the runway better.
😀

Soon we’ll have no pilots, like the self driving cars
Not for a while' its all fine until things get outside the parameters for the auto systems to cope: that's when the pilots really earn their pay.
This has been around since the 60s. The alternative is that you have to divert which ruins everyone's day.
I think it will still take some time 😀

If it’s a « No decision heigth » Cat3 approach, what’s the point of saying « Continue » ? That sounds like a decision to my ears.

@ Ok, thanks, we don’t have such a call-out on a no DH approach.
