I knew Dime from age 15 when I first heard him play in a music store. I followed him, bugged him frequently about tone, and he was always SUPER nice about sharing. I was an acquaintance not a friend but he called me the "Tone Guy" because I was obsessed with getting the best tone. I once bought a Yamaha combo amp identical to what he was playing early on (he sounded AMAZING as expected; I sounded like Sh@# through the same gear). As years went by he talked to me about playing two amps (one slightly cleaner for a monster tone). I followed his advice and played a Randall Head dirty with a Marshal JCM 800 slightly cleaner. He was right it sounded great. Telling my daughter about him the other day brought tears to me. We led very different lives (I'm in real estate) but the music connected us and it hurt to lose him.

Thanks for sharing that, to be honest I was not a fan just never knew much about Pantera or other metal bands, but as soon as I heard His story (Dime) I really just liked Him and then came the music and here I am at 55 wanting an ML 79 lol. As far as Dean and the Dime gear its really how you look at it- they are in business to make money and hey man it makes fans happy, its the only way to connect to someone they loved. Besides its better than the 50 or 60 ? Dave Mustaine models to me that's worse, lol. Great story thanks!

Clearly, most of you didn't know or have ever even met Dime. I've met him over a dozen times, and I can assure you, he is probably the nicest and most giving person I have ever had the honor of meeting. When I told him that he was my idol and that every riff, lick, and solo he's ever written inspires me every day to be a better player and that one day, I want to be up on that very same stage he rocks every night. Hearing that brought the hugest smile to his face. I'm 100% sure that Dime would have loved to have a line of amps that's affordable to everyone, getting extremely close to his tone, and inspiring kids to pick up a guitar and rock out with this embodiment of Dime's spirit flowing through them as they play. I have no doubt seeing a kid playing an ML on a Dime amp rockin some Pantera or shredding some nasty solo would bring a huge smile to his face and make him say "Hell yea." And while Dean seems to be milking Dime's name, what matters is at the very least, his NAME and LEGACY live on. Its not like his family is getting none of the money, either. I'm pretty sure they get at least half.
So in short, whether or not you like Dean or their products, its not about THEIR name. It's about DIME. I'm sure that the one thing Dime would have wanted for all of his fans is to be inspired by their idol and be able to buy products that make them feel like they're playing like him.
    R.I.P. Dime. Getcha Pull, brother.

Obviously they don't produce a sweet warm tube tone, but that isn't what these amps are about! I have the stack, and for the price I am pretty happy. Have you seen how much people like Randall Solid state amps? A lot of people like them more than a good amount of tube amps and I don't blame them. The reason people don't like this amp is because it's trying to get dime's tone and use his name with it, but it can't even get basic good tones, let alone a good Dimebag tone. And have you seen how cheap this amp looks? It looks like it was purposefully made out of glossy plastic just to look cheap. If you want an actually good amp, that can do lots of tones, including Dimebag's, go for a Randall Rg1503 or something similar, because these amps are the biggest sign of using a dead mans name to sell shit.

again, having your name on something doesn't mean you re using it . dime tone was Randall rg amps, dean ml guitars, Bill lawrence or dimebucker pups, some mxr stuff. Everything else is more or less marketing... and it was cool when he was alive but using a dead man's name on something he never saw or touched is just sickening

    • @zekenstyne
      @zekenstyne 8 лет назад

***** He guaranteed used warhead Cabs. I know he used rg100es or century 200 heads, but he did run them through warhead cabs after their production. They are V30 loaded and some of the best constructed cabs ever produced, let alone, there are tonnes of pics of him on stage with them mic'd up.I know he didn't ever see the krankenstein or that shitty dean dime head, those shouldn't exist.

I played this amp and it SUCKS out loud!! It sounds cold, sterile, one-dimensional and the gain quality is NASTY. I don't think much of "Dimebag" as a player, as I believe he is WAY overrated, but just the fact that he is gone, out of respect, this amp should at LEAST be decent sounding. Jesus, my old Crate combo amp from the early '90s sounds better than this boat anchor.

You are a dumb ass.. Dimebag was/is the best metal guitarist in the world. 4 times guitar world champion voted by metal heads. Fans are not fools.
I am sure you are one of those guys who equate difficulty in playing to greatness, What about the feel? I am sure you have no clue about it.

I grew up on hard rock and Metal and Dimebag is over-rated. Plain and simple. And I wouldn't play this amp if someone PAID me. My 20 year old Crate combo sounds better than this piece of shit. But that's cool. Just ask all the ppl that +1'd my comment lol

Magazine articles mentioned that dime liked the clean channel of the Krankenstien amp and the warmth but still prefered the quick attack of solid state. He still wanted an amp like his randalls that had the tube warmth and more bottom without having to use the outboard processing(PQ-3, 4 etc). The Dime D100 is quoted as being exact Perfection in what Dime wanted in his amps.

If you do the research you will see that it was Grady that was invited in to make the tweaks to give it that Dime sound. Also Dean brought the original engineer, that made Dime's original Randell amps. There is another video with Grady using one of Dime's personal guitars and his flanger from his rack. Everyone has been trying to get that Dime sound even while he was alive.

to all these supposed super dime fans.. you didnt personally know him so stop acting like you got your bros back or something.. a lot of people who knew him and helped worked on achiving the tone he was looking for helped engineer this amp.. im sure he would be proud to have a line of amps that a younger generation of guitarist could afford and also i think hed be proud his name was on them to inspire future super dimes! dime was a rebel by his choices in gear and many other aspects of his life.

The head was redesigned by Gary snuda who is the original designer of the original randall heads dime used from the 8 ' till he switched to krank before his passing.the dime head is a hottrodded randall rg100, with way more gain deeper low end & boosted highs, and can run 2 channels at once.what more do want.so all in all its a randall through & through!

@Greenburg Correct, but Dimebag did use Randall RG100ES amps and this is essetially a hot rodded clone of that amp, it has all the same controls the footswitch is configured the same to switch/combine channels, and gain boost, but are you aware that it was designed by Gary Sunda the former Randall engineer who designed the RG100ES? It is a clone of that amp hot rodded with input from Grady Champion Dimebag's guitar tech of 13 years and Dean has the blessing of his wife Rita.

If you're looking for a inexpensive yet kickass tube amp try and get your hands on the spidervalve mk 1. Essentially it's a really solid power amp powered by tubes to give you the warmth of a tube amp with the modelling of line 6 spider. So it's like getting a tube amp set to clean then running your best distortion pedals through it, except the distortion pedal is built into the amp. I've also heard of people just running their real distortion pedals through the power amp input in the back.

Thing is, why dean did not offered to create a thing when he was living. This is only for "post mortem fame" thing. He is a legend, people will buy that. I am sure you are right with the idea of being happy to have a good equip and this amp does sound good. But a good music is made by fingers, equipment comes as second.

  • @funkydoodycool

Have to say, it does a good job of creating his tone, especially played with a Dime model guitar. The clean especially. I don't see the problem using the guy's name. He's a legend. People still buy Hendrix-branded wah pedals, and this is no different. It has potential to bring Pantera's greatness to a whole new generation who missed out first time.
