You are awesome Josh. The thing that I like the most is that you show the Radiomaster or any other openTX/EdgeTX and you talk about airplanes too. 99.99% of the channels that talk about these radios, ONLY talk about multi rotor like, theses radios were made just for them. Right now as I write, I am installing a Radiomater TX16S on a 35% size airplane, using 2 Graupner receivers and a 120cc gas motor. So thank you, airplane guys do appreciate your effort to mention us
After all these years I found The only video where I did not learn anything. But please keep up the amazing work you truly are a inspiration to the hobby.
delicate touch helped me calibrate my throttle hall sensor M9-R properly; you're not the only author of this method but a trusted source so I am able to listen to your script versus watch you calibrate your head from side to side! just teasing; thanks for your thorough technical advice. i will remember these procedures when I jump to the Radiomaster with the AG01 hall sensors
Did not learn anything new this time but I am very grateful mr Bardwell is able to have the time to explain drones to us some say he rambles I say he teaches completely how to fish not just here is a hook here is a line here is a worm so thank you Mr Bardwell keep rambling because I don't want to just do I allso want to know why happy safe flying. Indiana drones fpv
Ok, so I somehow missed this video when it came out. Thanks so much JB for referring me to this. I literally just ran this calibration today and noticed the number 1 at the bottom, I pressed the number 1 and I think one other button to see if it did anything, it did not, so I assumed it was for something else and ended the calibration. After watching this video I tried again and realized that you have to press all the numbers at least once before it starts working right. Wow can't believe I missed that!
I didn't know but my excuse is i just got the radio. I did wonder when i was calibrating what the center scale was for and figured some where along the line it would show up. Yes, i did learn something today. Thanks for all your effort Josh
I installed some Frsky Hall Sensor Gimbals in a Spektrum DX9 and I saw the end points moving with different pressure...So glad I watched this I'll definitely recalibrate them with a lot less pressure, thanks for the teaching us TODAY😉👍
I don't have a radiomaster but as soon as you mentioned most people are probably missing something, I knew what it was. I'm pretty sure I calibrated all my pots when I switched to opentx, but now I want to do it again.
While you were talking about the Tango 2 you looked at the camera and it felt like you were talking right to me. A couple weeks back I was having the "Throttle Warning". You helped me figure out the issue in a thread in TBS Lounge. I am sure this video will help lots of pilots, Noob and Pro.
You are correct sir, I didn't see the 6 position (Radiomaster) as a pot, but more as just buttons similar to all the menu buttons or the trim buttons that you don't calibrate. Knowledge is POWER! GI JOOEEEEEEE
Don't have that particular radio, so didn't need to know about the 6 position, but did know about calibrating the pot on my taranis x9 lite. Did it once, and haven't had to since! Great info as always!
I had same issue with TX16S. I couldn't understand why this was happening... I have done calibration a lot. I have moved stick down strongly every time. I understand that i was doing wrong when I watched your video. Thank you so much...
So I just bought a Radiomaster TX16S a few days ago. Was excited to try it out with liftoff and tried to calibrate and do rates and still was getting weird movements and even without touching the controller the quad inside the sim was accelerating of all a sudden and lifting itself from one of the sides. With this video I just fixed all those problems, now I even have better control over the quad. Thanks!!!
My Taranis has an actual 6 position knob, and yes that has to be calibrated too. I do like the buttons that let you go directly from 1 to 6 without going through all the other positions and activating whatever function is under there.
I learned and will continue to view and still can’t wait to learn how to get Crossfire and Erls to work on my Radios ruined one in the process won’t boot up anymore. Thanks for sharing!
I do it correctly on my tx16s... Because I watch your videos and researched EVERYTHING before I bought it. 😂 I also use the 6 position for all my vtx power levels ☺ because of you too!
Got me when installing the rotary 6 pos switch. Moved the switch too fast. So I just didn’t use it. Looking at getting tx16s and found out enough info that I have one on order. Saw enough calibrattion vids and finally figured it out. Now working great. Was Taranis x9d plus. Thank you
Joshua I love you. I bought my tango 2 pro a couple weeks ago and always had problems with calibration. Searched on internet, nothing found. You read my mind xD
I didn't know the proper way to calibrate, but in my defense I'm new to this. I now know the proper way to calibrate my Radiomaster TX16S, which could also be known as the Joshua Bardwell Method! Thanks for teaching me stuff!
Good tutorial. Tango 2 single sensor gimbals caught me by surprise too. Especially throttle stick - managed to finish calibration at 9th time only. And still yaw endpoints skew by -7 at zero throttle and at -3 at full throttle. I probably will recalibrate throttle stick once more.
Followed this for calibration and it went smooth. Still got throttle warning until I finally figured out my throttle trim was way outta whack!! check your trims!
Knew about everything in this video. Learned about the 6 buttons when researching info about the TX16S before purchasing. I didn't learn anything today but watching and commenting for the analytics. 😁
My tango 2 has been doing this for several months, but it was such a minor thing I never bothered to look into it more ( though I was pretty confused about why it was happening!) Thanks for helping me sort it out!
Thats some great detail thanks ... I've just ordered my tx16s so I will definitely be sure to come back and re watch this again to set up my controller
I have the tx16s, I've had to calibrate enough times because of the left gimbal is not very good. 💩. So I did figure out about calibrating the 6 position switch. I've ordered the new AG01 gimbals , looking forward to installing them. 👍🤓
Had already learned about the sticks before from you, and learned now about the 6 position switches. Thank you for all the helpful information that you provide and keep up the great work 👍!
Knew about the calibration stuff and found about pressing too hard and getting those annoying warnings! Took a few tries to finally get it right. Had to do one at a time!
I could not for the life of me get the Tango 2 stick inputs to register in Betaflight. I did not realize that I had to calibrate the sticks first in order to get the signal to the TX, then to the RX. It makes sense that it needs to be done first but boy howdy was it a point of frustration. You helped me learn something in the video, Present Day Ben thanks Past Joshua - I owe you a beverage if I run into you at SpinUp or some such drone event.
I didn't know about the 6 positions 😜 I have learned something today 😁 but i think you have forgotten something important to talk about 🤘make the calibration in a good temperature ! I have noticed that because I have my drone place in my basement (17°C), where I did my calibration, and when I go out for flying (in summer for example 30°C), my stick end point are about 97-98% and I can't reach the 100%. Sorry about my bad English 😜 I'm French ✌thx for all your vidéo and happy fly too !
I've got a Tango 2 and did already know the correct calibration procedure, but only because I researched into why it was being such a pain in the ass to calibrate not long after owning it. I had a standard Taranis QX7 before the Tango 2 and that was never an issue to calibrate. I'm actually considering calibrating my Tango 2 for the 20th time after watching this video lol. I always add a 5% deadzone to all sticks in KISS and BF just incase. Seems to help stop jitter
JB, I think you should add this as a tip when calibrating Tango2 - Its a lot easier to calibrate one gimbal at a time instead of both simultaneously, and that way you don't mess up the process.
I had to do this with my Jumper T-Lite and be very very careful. It was giving the throttle warning on startup as well. Oddly enough, my Radiomaster T12 and Frsky X9D did not have this issue. The sticks must have a little less flex on those.
There was one thing missing in the video is to check your mode setting if set to mode 2 on a mode 1 setup you will still see a throttle warning as the stick will be centred, something you should check after performing a software update, had the mode switch on an update on Tango 2 and X9d
THANKYOU! I just updated the firmware on my Tango2 and it was like the gimbals swapped, the throttle on the right. I'm a n00b and didn't know about modes, so I'm guessing the update set it to mode 2.
Wow, after taking another look I was actually only hitting 98.8 on my right roll, probably from heavy thumbing my calibration. Thanks 🙏, and that’s with a Taranis with hall gimbals.
Great info, I didn't know about the 6 pos switch calibration but discovered about the "pushing hard the sticks" issue during calibration when I replaced the spring of my hall sensor gimbal (TX16S). I actually notice it during the following flight as plane's rolling rate felt significantly reduced. I calibrated on the field which improved but noticed for the first time that moving the sticks around the 4 edges would result in not reaching 100% input across the edges (i.e -100% down left/ -92% down center/ -98% down right). Now, for calibration, I very gently move the sticks up/down, left/right and double check on the monitor to make sure I'm reaching full inputs through the entire range.
Yes, not pushing the sticks hard during calibration was what I found I had to do with my old Turnigy TGY-i10 TX's, because you want to apply less pressure during calibration than when you're actually using the TX to fly. I carried that gentle-stick-push-during-calibration method to my T16 and all is good.
I knew about the 6-position buttons... I also learned about being gentle about the endpoints of the sticks early on. Back with my early X9d I even went into Companion and tweaked the endpoint values to guarantee a resting -100 to +100 range on the throttle and carried that practice through my QX7 and TX16s. No big deal, but then I am an inveterate fiddler and tend to know more about my equipment than most do. Sorry Bardwell, but I didn't learn anything new today, even though this is a valuable video. :D
O know the 1 to 6 potentiometer thing but didn’t think about the “to much force” issue. I just calibrate with very soft hands and my TX16s is just perfect now.
I've never used nor calibrated the 6 pos buttons on my tx16s. Good to know. It's my DJI controller that needs calibration. The cal in the goggles doesn't appear to finish and the pots are a little offcenter.
I found this video as I had the Throttle Warning every time I powered up my Radiomaster Boxer. I've tried calibrating sticks gently as you advise, throttle position is showing -100 but still get Throttle Warning every time. And, no, I didn't know about the 6 button calibration. Thanks
I had other issue related to calibration on Tango 2. When I had MPM module turned on (in module bay add-on) it was not storing calibration at all. After restart calibration was just lost... The solution was to create a dummy Crossfire model and calibrate on that model active. Only then calibration was stored in Tango 2 memory and you could safety change the model back to MPM.
You are the best teacher ive had! Never have I had an issue not solved. Some patience and Bardwell does the trick everytime. Thank you!
Great video!
I get that throttle warning every time, now I know how to fix!
Love my Radiomaster TX16S
Thank you
Glad to help

Yep, your right as usual JB, I didn’t know that. Thanks for sharing.
What about his left?? :)
I also learned it in previous videos of yours, still good to reiterated for newer members. Ah man those gimbals got me drooling!
Me Too, Me Too! Resisting the temptation to install the AG01 Gimbals
I'm on the same page...
Ok, so I somehow missed this video when it came out. Thanks so much JB for referring me to this. OMG Joshua I knew it because I saw your video a while a go and didn't correctly the calibration process and I learned something that day! 🤣🤣🤣
Thx u so much. Before I tried calibrated more than 50 times still not perfect but after watched your video, really save my time. Good job.
You are correct sir, I didn't see the 6 position (Radiomaster) as a pot, but more as just buttons similar to all the menu buttons or the trim buttons that you don't calibrate. Knowledge is POWER! GI JOOEEEEEEE

Thanks for the video I started into the hobby about a year ago and learn something every day. Keep making videos and I will keep coming back for more.

ThanksJB you showed me the solution to my tango 2. I have always had a problem getting the calibration straight.
I learned and will continue to view and still can’t wait to learn how to get Crossfire and Erls to work on my Radios ruined one in the process won’t boot up anymore. Thanks for sharing!
You cover this is in parts on previous videos but it was a good idea to compile this info into one video. 👍
I do it correctly on my tx16s... Because I watch your videos and researched EVERYTHING before I bought it. 😂 I also use the 6 position for all my vtx power levels ☺ because of you too!
Things are making more and more sense lately. Thank you.
Hello JB. I did not know why my 6 position wasn't working and didn't know it needed to be calibrated....I do now, many thanks

I only knew about the 6 pos calibration because you told me in the jumper t16 setup video. Thanks jb
You taught me that about the 6-position switch in a recent video when you installed the new gimbals. I'd not known previously. Thanks!
My X-Lite had the same problem. I have a Horus as well, so... It has an actual potentiometer. ;). Great tips 👍
Thanks Joshua, I didn't know about the 6 position switches!

Nicely explained thanks JB, I didn't know about the 6 pos switch.
I did not know about the 6 pos. calibration. Thanks for the tip.
Didn’t know about six position switch. Thx JB!
Hey Joshua, I learned about this thorough calibration from one of your previous vids.
Knew about the calibration stuff and found about pressing too hard and getting those annoying warnings! Took a few tries to finally get it right. Had to do one at a time!
I didn't know any of this before today. Thank you so much! Very appreciated 🤘

Awesome, Joshua! Thanks a lot! 😊
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Yep I saw that and was supersized since they are buttons, great video thanks
Great video! Like the small details Joshua!
YOU ARE A LIFE SAVER/ thought I messed up my number t pro after taking it apart and reflashing it. thank you a million.
On my tango 2 when I roll left or right the pitch also moves! Thanks for all your quality videos 🙂
Now fixed!
I knew 🤙 thanks. I will recalibrate to make sure I used a soft touch. Every now and then I get throttle warning.
I've got a Tango 2 and did already know the correct calibration procedure, but only because I researched into why it was being such a pain in the ass to calibrate not long after owning it. Great video JB this was helpful even for an experienced pilot 😀
I seen the marks not moving. But I did not know how to do it! Thanks!
Thanks for all ya videos JB, I knew about that tricky 6pos switch on the TX16S.

I new the six position switch calibration and learnt about the force on the stick calibrating my Frsky
did not know, but I do now. Thanks JB. Y are the GOAT.
Thank you I'm waiting for pyro drone to stock up on the Tango 2
Nice vid thx 🤗.Always had the Throttle warning in "my First days of fpv" cause i pushed the Sticks to hard in calibration (Qx7) 😅🤣
Thank you for this Joshua this is just been a little aggravating for my ADHD
I didnt know that about the 6 position, but ive sold my tx16s and bought a tango 2. Ill be te calibrating my sticks later with minimal force 🙌🏻
I was struggling with this yesterday. Thank you for the timely and valuable information!
Thank you for this! I get throttle and switch warning lol, just kinda ignored it till now :)
Cheers, I had that throttle problem on my T16… drove me crazy! Also I didn’t know about the flight mode buttons. I learnt something today 😎
Great tut JB! Always learning!
I had previously seen you mention calibrating the 6 button ‘potentiometer’. Likely in your all metal gimbal video.
I'm a begginer... didn't know that. Thanks Bardwell!
There was one thing missing in the video is to check your mode setting if set to mode 2 on a mode 1 setup you will still see a throttle warning as the stick will be centred, something you should check after performing a software update, had the mode switch on an update on Tango 2 and X9d

Came here to see all the tango 2 comments! 🤣🤣
Wow, after taking another look I was actually only hitting 98.8 on my right roll, probably from heavy thumbing my calibration. Thanks 🙏, and that’s with a Taranis with hall gimbals.

Yup. Knew about the 6 position and the throttle warning issue.
Thanks. I just got my Radiomaster and had the -98% on the throttle. And I did need to know about the 1-6 switches. Now my throttle says -100%!!
way to keep us all straightened out. ...time and time again!!

Sorry Bardwell, but I didn't learn anything new today, even though this is a valuable video. :D
I have used a thick paper spacer between the end points of my sticks and any physical stops when calibrating
Everyone of your vids I learn a massive new thing! This time the 1 2 3 4 5 6! lol. Thank you so much :D
Super helpful video, fixed my problem with the Tango 2 super fast! Thanks!
O know the 1 to 6 potentiometer thing but didn’t think about the “to much force” issue.
I just calibrate with very soft hands and my TX16s is just perfect now.
knew everything there JB but definitely worth watching for newbies. those CNC gimbals remind me of Kylo Rens helmet in the later star wars films.
I hear what you saying about the Tango2. It needs CNC metal gimbals. I agree
Just for your statistics: I knew about the 6pos switch calibration :P
Bloody do-gooder 😁
Always do it for statistics!
JB told us about the throttle and six position when he first got a T16S and we NEVER ignore what JB says. 😁
I've never used nor calibrated the 6 pos buttons on my tx16s. Good to know. It's my DJI controller that needs calibration. The cal in the goggles doesn't appear to finish and the pots are a little offcenter.
You know everything I wish I knew 10% of what you got in that head of yours keep teaching us u genius 👍
I found this video as I had the Throttle Warning every time I powered up my Radiomaster Boxer.
I've tried calibrating sticks gently as you advise, throttle position is showing -100 but still get Throttle Warning every time.
And, no, I didn't know about the 6 button calibration. Thanks
SOLVED - radio was in Mode 1. Changed to Mode 2 and problem solved.
