    I'm looking for the ball joint tool kit that includes the tapered cup to install the upper ball joint. Can you share a kit part number? I would greatly appreciate it. I have a 1979 CJ5 with the Dana 30.

    I know this video is old but it is an excellent tutorial. Where can I get the offset ball joint installer for the upper ball joint?

      any good tool retailer that sells OTC tools will have the ball joint kit. You can check ebay or amazon, or any tool company that comes up with an internet search.

    Great video and very informative. I am in the process of rebuilding my Dana 30. I purchased the Moog ball joints and pressed them into the knuckle following your instructions. When I try to tighten down the bottom ball joint nut the ball joint spins. Did you run into this problem?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    What is the socket you used to set the sleeve on the upper ball joint.?

    • @metalshaperJeep
      @metalshaperJeep  2 года назад

      It is a standard ball joint socket. You can get them from Snap On, OTC and many other retailers.

    Are the u-joints on the axle shaft, the same as on the drive shafts?....Hal

    I've been looking for 1980s CJ7 parts. Which axles did the 1983 CJ7 have? 33, 35 or 44? and I think it was a 3.07 I also heard about the AMC 20.

    • @metalshaperJeep
      @metalshaperJeep  6 лет назад

      the 1983 CJ7 came with a dana 30 front end and an AMC 20 rear end. Switched to a 5 bolt hub in 1981 on the Dana 30. This unit has 3.07 gears in it but others were available.

    I have bought Moog parts that were made in China and the quality was pathetic. Be careful when buying Moog they aren’t what they used to be.

      Most Moog parts are still made in the USA, like these ball joints in the video. there has been and still are counterfeit moog parts out there, so be careful what you are buying.
