To minimize dead air space, place a dense blanket (wool is best) over the top of the food- this prevents the entire cooler being exposed when opening the lid for one item. Just lift the corner of the blanket. Also, place food in painters buckets (available at hardware stores) this protects against wetting from melted ice better than ziplock bags which can leak.
You're on the right track... First off, that's not block ice, it's compressed crushed ice. A true, clear, solid block of ice, whatevercsize, keeps longer. Mos the self serve, free standing ice houses have block as well as bagel ice or make your own the size you need. I use quart milk jugs and the bottles like above. I made a shelf, half length of the cooler, to keep some food products off the floor of the cooler, the waterproof stuff can sit under and beside, in the water, if open b ice is used. The fridge will not get the drinks pre-chilled to the best potential. Put the drinks in a separate, heavily iced water bath with some rock salt for a total least 30 minutes, an hour is great, while you pre cool your cooler with dry ice. An old bartenders trick. The fridge will hit around 45 for cans, if your lucky, right at freezing in anew ice bath. KEEP THE OUTSIDE OF COOLER COOL... Go to the home improvement store and buy a water heater insulation blanket and a roll of aluminum tape. A small investment for a large reward. Cut a top sheet and four sides and tape the parts so that you have a proper sized "cozie" (not coozie, that's some new-aged word. There were cozies made for tea pots and such many years before some marketing idiot called it a coozie). It's a slip cover for your cooler. Foam board is destroyed too easily. Whenever you aren't actually opening the cooler, keep the cover on it. You'll be amazed at how much longer your ice keeps when using these tips, especially when it's really hot and humid. Humidity is a big issue it helps leach off the cold by air contact with the cooler. Georgia is tough on coolers. For storage, the "cozi"e cover of your efforts fits into the cooler when not in use. By doing as advised in this video, combined with my tips, I've kept my old, cheap (relatively) Igloo 90qt. marine cooler functioning for a week, easy, even in 90°, 60% humidity Georgia days. Good luck...
Boomer Taylor r u saying cut a top sheet into 4 pieces and tape it over top of the insulation blanket? I can pic the cozie idea..just got lost on the sheet part, lol thx
I got the 55 qt a few months ago and I love it. Under a hundred bucks and made in the USA. I'm gonna get the 77 quart next week and give the 55 to my sister
My lifetime 28 is amazing! The only thing it lacks is tie down points we can utilize even when we are opening and closing! But it’s made in America and it’s fantastic!
Out of the sun is pretty obvious but the wind on a hot day just as bad if not worse. Sometimes i see coolers on receiver hitch racks on the backs of cars.
I've done it on my Jeep since the 77 quart won't fit inside. It stayed cold until I got home 3 days later. The frozen water bottles were still completely frozen.
Did ANYBODY preview the music level of this video before it was released? Totally distracts from Mr. Wizard here. And what is the "Salt Fog Chamber" in the background for? Sounds intriguing...
There’s only one thing these great coolers are missing: a hole/gap on the side up top to allow straps to go through and attach the cooler to a boat or flat bed.
Prior to longer camping trips I usually freeze milk jugs full of water instead of having to buy blocked ice. Limits the amount of water in bottom of cooler.
If you put bubble wrap on top of the ice it will help also fill your cooler completely full. You can use empty water bottles on top so when you open the cooler less are can escape.
I'll give lifetime coolers a great review, I've had the 28 size cooler for 2 years almost and it has been used weekly in the truck at work and on the boat it holds ice very well and is tough.
Frozen gallon jugs of water are a great alternative to block ice, which is really hard to find.. You also get really cold drinking water. There's this stuff that's 1/4" thick closed cell foam with a shiny aluminized layer on both sides. I don't remember what it''s called. I glued two pieces together and cut it to fit about halfway into the cooler.. I also glued another piece to the underside of the lid. I would have used two, but it was all I had.
The one problem with Lifetime coolers is that they don't come with or even offer dry goods trays or baskets, not even as a separate purchase. major flaw. You guys, please give us these, they are really necessary!
Hi Phil, We are working on some new stuff with the cooler. We hear you guys don't worry! Keep an eye on our social pages because we will announce it there. *LS
I've had those with my other coolers. I find them too inefficient (too much wasted space and air around them) so they never ever get used. For a day or two outing, maybe someone could justify using them, but that's it.
Lab vest with a pen in the pocket? Safety glasses on top of head that are never used? Unknown piece of bubbling equipment in the background, and the list of goes on and on. Let me guess, these are supposed to somehow tell people "trust our opinions".
Plastic injection molding and fabrication processing in manufacturing looks just like that area! And the company makes many other items besides the cooler. And some of his gear and wardrobe may be OSHA required.
Restaurants cook their burgers from frozen patties and I do also at home. Any items for your cooler can be packed in small portions ready to cook or thaw for eating. 👍 great question! Watch my cooler review and get some more ideas
Not being smart or nothing, BUT, if you need to go thru all that...... why not just take along a refrigerator and be done. Seriously, a cooler is a cooler. It's really redundant to go thru all that.... just buy more ice,...... or....... take along a Kenmore 25.... with optional cubed or crushed ice.
They make portable fridges for cars, but unless you have a portable power station or dual battery setup it's not going to work. The portable frigs are also expensive.
Takes me 2 full days to get to my ultimate crown land getaway. Once paddled/portaged in, the last thing I want to do is to have to go buy ice. That'd be a full day trek to the nearest ice store. Yes, I like my beer that much. But seriously, not everyone car camps.
Ummm, I do and have been for years... and so does anyone else that needs their ice to last longer! A precooled ice box gives me an extra 2 days that my ice lasts.
I throw my yeti cooler bag in my chest freezer before using all the time, makes a huge difference. I also usually store my regular coolers in the basement. It’s more efficient starting off with a 50-55 degree cooler than a 90+ degree cooler in my garage.

Fantastic - Great cooler I have one and it's great. This guy should be a teacher. Very solid lecture.

Love to see the factory process on making them. I bought one a week ago. Lifetime cooler 28 is the best cooler I’ve ever had! Made in USA!!
How is that cooler working at keeping items cold and ice retention now, 3 years later?
I’ve had one for 4 years now and it’s starting to lose retention. But it’s been pretty solid up until this summer.
I got the 55 qt a few months ago and I love it. Under a hundred bucks and made in the USA. I'm gonna get the 77 quart next week and give the 55 to my sister
good vid . good info, not just all about trying to sell stuff like many other companies do their videos
My lifetime 28 is amazing! The only thing it lacks is tie down points we can utilize even when we are opening and closing! But it’s made in America and it’s fantastic!
Glad to hear it! Maybe we'll see some tie down points in the future.
I bought the Lifetime 28 almost week ago. We are on our 1st trip with it. So far working well and a great size for just the 2 of us.
Lose the music…very distracting and much too loud….nice video.
JoeB
Thanks Lifetime, I’ll link your video to my cooler review! Good job 👍
Good vid but the safety googles were a bit over the top!!!!
It’s because he was handling dry ice. Safety policies
i want this job ! i have the true passion for this brand
Out of the sun is pretty obvious but the wind on a hot day just as bad if not worse. Sometimes i see coolers on receiver hitch racks on the backs of cars.

good video but please no music
Did ANYBODY preview the music level of this video before it was released? Totally distracts from Mr. Wizard here. And what is the "Salt Fog Chamber" in the background for? Sounds intriguing...
Oh man, the goggles are a major distraction. The music sucks too.
There’s only one thing these great coolers are missing: a hole/gap on the side up top to allow straps to go through and attach the cooler to a boat or flat bed.
Prior to longer camping trips I usually freeze milk jugs full of water instead of having to buy blocked ice. Limits the amount of water in bottom of cooler.
plus you can drink that water after it has melted
I use water bottles, I also took a piece of installation and cut it to go inside the cooler. I use it on top of my frozen foods.
100% that is the lab from breaking bad
If you put bubble wrap on top of the ice it will help also fill your cooler completely full. You can use empty water bottles on top so when you open the cooler less are can escape.
Dear Lifetime: The music is too loud. I can't even finish watching this video. Please redo this with less or no music. Thanks!
I'll give lifetime coolers a great review, I've had the 28 size cooler for 2 years almost and it has been used weekly in the truck at work and on the boat it holds ice very well and is tough.
We'd love to see it! Here's a direct link to where you can leave a review bit.ly/3cdoSAt.
I always have dry ice handy, nice music too
They sell it at most grocery stores.
Where can I get a white lab coat to pack my cooler???
Never had a soggy egg before??
How does one pre-freeze an item? Is that like pre-drilling?
It's more like pre-boarding
0:25 I thought direct contact with the plastic will ruin the plastic....
Frozen gallon jugs of water are a great alternative to block ice, which is really hard to find.. You also get really cold drinking water.

Pre-frozen bottled water would be water?
😁

I've had those with my other coolers. I find them too inefficient (too much wasted space and air around them) so they never ever get used. For a day or two outing, maybe someone could justify using them, but that's it.
What if I put the cooler in a deep freezer first?
Thanks helpful
If you sodas in they cold of space it will blow the cans up.
Great tips.
Lab vest with a pen in the pocket? Safety glasses on top of head that are never used? Unknown piece of bubbling equipment in the background, and the list of goes on and on. Let me guess, these are supposed to somehow tell people "trust our opinions".
Random guy complaining the comments section of RUclips video, this must make us skeptical of a good intentioned video.
Plastic injection molding and fabrication processing in manufacturing looks just like that area! And the company makes many other items besides the cooler. And some of his gear and wardrobe may be OSHA required.
Believe it or not, some universities are offering coolerology as a minor study 🎓
Pause at 6.00. Sums it up.
those eggs and that block of dry ice That's going to be a mess
I heard draining the water keeps the ice solid longer.
Why the goggles there sparky? Lol
joelouis321 guess he wants to look like a scientist since he is using dry ice. Lol
Keeping that hair line safe. because termites
It makes him look important.
Operating cooler lids is obviously a very dangerous and life threatening. Be careful out there.
Wasn’t even using them... maybe there’s a next gen cooler he’s working on somewhere else in the lab... him and Egor got something else going down.
I’m pretty sure scientists don’t say “or whatever” 🤣🤣🤣
Good thing he’s not an actual scientist!
Great video but my only debunk is if you freeze your water bottles you will get water at the bottom it's called condensation
why the goggles...(oh nvm.I guess it warms the head better than a beanie)
Yeah, I have a dry ice dispenser out in my woodshed.
Nearly any grocery store sells dry ice
lol Soggy eggs. lol
Instead of dry ice, fill soda bottles with a mixture of pink RV antifreeze (non toxic) and water and put in a deep freeze. Acts as an ice extender.
"Pre-freeze your hamburger meat to keep it cold..." Ummm.... what if I want to eat it?
kmb1 what if you want to eat it? Cook it. Cook frozen pre-made burger pattis, you won’t fi back.
Restaurants cook their burgers from frozen patties and I do also at home. Any items for your cooler can be packed in small portions ready to cook or thaw for eating. 👍 great question! Watch my cooler review and get some more ideas
Nope! "as cold as possible" is zero degrees Kelvin. Dry ice doesn't even come close!
Pro tip: eggs don't need to be refrigerated. Go to Mexican grocery stores. Eggs not refrigerated.
If they're fresh yes, if they've been previously refrigerated then they need to be...unless you like food poisoning.
Not being smart or nothing, BUT, if you need to go thru all that...... why not just take along a refrigerator and be done. Seriously, a cooler is a cooler. yea sure buddy! I will just throw my cooler in the river LOL
LMAO!
if you find a place where you can put it between rocks....nice idea...
what's with the safety goggles and lab coat??? kill the music next time too....
The music makes this video unwatchable. Definitely do the vid again and lose the music!
This video is one of our older ones. Check out this updated video on ice retention- ruclips.net/video/aeVexEotOl0/видео.html
lol, who goes to the store to get dry ice to pre-cool their cooler. just no.
Mark A exactly. Why would anyone need to do half these things
Dry ice? Seriously? I can make any cooler great with dry ice.
Yeah, nobody in the history of tailgating has ever pre-chilled a cooler.
Maybe they should start so their ice will last longer!
Ummm, I do and have been for years... and so does anyone else that needs their ice to last longer! A precooled ice box gives me an extra 2 days that my ice lasts.
Pretty sure that was sarcasm !😂
Honestly, the music is worse than useless here.
We agree! That's why we've updated the video. Try this link instead: ruclips.net/video/aeVexEotOl0/видео.html.
@@LifetimeProductsAssembly Thank you!
dont believe hes a scientist... common sense info. nothing new.
Lmfknao Hahaha, who the fk "precools" the cooler? GTFOH with that shit!
I throw my yeti cooler bag in my chest freezer before using all the time, makes a huge difference. I also usually store my regular coolers in the basement. It’s more efficient starting off with a 50-55 degree cooler than a 90+ degree cooler in my garage.
