Don't know if the 50 has this or not, but I have a 70 qrt and it has dual drain plugs too, plus don't forget about the purpose of why the back part the cooler lid is angled. It's so the lid can open when cooler is up against a wall or wall of your truck in which you still open your cooler. I love this cooler. 👍
So my 2 cents on this one.Ive spent way too much time watching every video on YT and reading reviews on all these roto coolers(sick of the cheap coolers). Then Kong started to really stand out among the others.I hate rope handles that swing,of course i need good ice retention.I just got my Kong 50qt white yesterday.Never having owned a roto before,im blown away from the build - latches-real handles for carrying(not ropes)-angled lid for opening-and the extras i will buy later. This video put me over the top.I mean in my case i wanted 4 things and i got it.(1)Ice retention(rated almost tied for 1st)(2)Solid build -its heavy but the handles make it easy for you and usually 2 people to carry(no ropes swaying back and forth)(3)Extras -There are alot of things you can buy and or add to make this over the top(kicker bottle opener dividers).(4)Price - i got mine off of amazon(had gift cards i needed to use). After comparing like wise same size coolers,Kong nailed it because most will hold ice well or even really well. But the design features and build is solid for the price.Plus its made in the usa.She is a real beast of a cooler.Mine was.$269 ish on amazon YMMV.Thanks Coolers on sale. This one is a keeper.
If you flip the handles straight up after opening the lid, the lid can rest back down on the handles at about a 45 degree angle. Flipping the handles up while seated in the cooler top makes for great handles while riding in a boat too. There is also a drain plug on each side of the cooler.
Received mine today. Major props to you sir for your excellent cooler reviews. Looking forward to many years of brain-freeze level cold drinks out of this thing. Thanks!
Dang! I ordered a Cordova 128 a few weeks ago. Wish that I had heard of Kong before. That large cutting board is genius. Love the latches and handles too on the Kong.
Have they fixed the lid gasket leaking? I'd like to get this cooler for a number of reasons, but I was leaning towards going with a Lifetime 77 instead, because it's cheaper and doesn't leak at all.
Love my 7 yr old Engel but should I ever buy another, (gift perhaps), it's going to be Kong. Your PSA's are very informative and honest and something people should take seriously, (should you get a hurricane Iniki that kept power out in Haleiwa 17 days).
Hello, I really want to buy the Kong 50 after seeing your review(s) but I will need Wheels to get it to where it needs to go. Do you guys ever do Wheel accessory reviews? Do you suggest and particular Wheel accessory on the market currently? Thank you so much.
Capitalism at its best! Who knew that there would be a market for super premium coolers? Who knew that there would be 3.6M viewers of reviews of coolers? Well done as always. Thank you.
@@CoolersOnSale I like it a LOT. It's well made. Just got back from a one week road trip, lots of empty space in it on way back. After a week in the SUV it still had ice (we never added) and everything was cold. I'm VERY happy with it and the price was right too. Thank you very much!
Looks amazing!!! Love all the accessories👌 You forgot to show that you can put the lock through that beer opener which makes it even better cause it won't be in the way it just makes it even more awesome! If I ever save enough I would buy it but for now I just have an Igloo and an ArcticZone Titan.
But isn't this one of the ones that leaks? And the top shelf/cutting board, kicker and bottle opener are extra-cost options, not included with the cooler. You failed to mention that.
@@CoolersOnSale lol.. Thanks for the reply... And what better way to have a fresh fish.. Of corse its going to be flapping around. Lol.. I'll chatch one for you guys. Thanks again
Hey! loved the review, came back to boy one to make sure i went through your link so you got some kick back but the link wasn't working. I'm going on a road trip next and want to get a new cooler that will last the trip and then obviously lots more trips so thanks for all your hard work.
This is a badass cooler. I almost got it. But when looking for a smaller rotomold cooler to carry with one hand. I ended up with the Siberian Alpha22. I think the Kong25 is a least 8 lbs. heavier.
Did you do the ice retention test with the cutting board on top? If not, how much more time do you think having the cutting board on top adds to the ice retention time?
We haven't tested the 100+ qt coolers yet. I don't think you can go wrong with any of those. The recent performance and warranty of the Kong are hard to argue.
All those cool little gadgets like the big table, finger protecter, bottle opener etc are all EXTRA and VERY expensive! Table is like $50, bottle opener $20 and so on.
Just leaving an accurate account. My Kong 50 held ice at least 3 days less than my Yeti of the same size. 2 of the 4 rubber feet came off when I slid it into my truck. I have wrote MULTIPLE EMAILS and they will not even respond now. I communicated with Ashley at Kong one time. They were suppose to get ahold of me and replace my cooler and send a free hat. Thats going on 2 weeks and they will not get back in touch with me now. I hope everyone has better luck than me. Was really hoping the American made cooler that is cheaper than a Yeti would be awesome. My Yeti is 12 years old and not ONE PROBLEM YET. Also, I have been leaving reviews on their website to better inform buyers but they will not post them. Seriously, im not trashing them and trying to sell someone a Yeti. This is just what is happening to me
Please keep us updated. Just curious why would you email Kong when they have their phone numbers listed on their home page? I would be calling them non stop just saying.
I just bought this cooler along with a bunch of accessories. I don't know about anyone else but my latches will barely stay latched. Minimal effort will pop the latch. One ride in the Jeep on paved road and one of the latches had opened itself. There is little to no tension tension on these latches The cooler is rather useless to me if latches don't stay closed.
Awesome engineered cooler BUT still no option for WHEELS though, so how can we say that the company covered all bases. The heaviness of the cooler when loaded makes any cooler tough to move around, your pretty much limited to stationary placements or moving it once in a while for the usual cleaning after it has been emptied. But for most of us that use coolers to take to the beach, family gathering, cook outs with friends it’s not a good option because of the weight. Now if you decide to wait and fill the cooler at your event then now everyone has to wait until the drinks get cold in essence defeating the purpose of a cooler in the first place. Would love to buy couple of the coolers but don’t like the heaviness and limitations that all branded coolers miss out on because of lack of designing a proper wheel set up. Smaller coolers have wheel options, but the point is for the bigger coolers to have them for the variation of drinks that your family and friends want and expect to have. WHEELS PLEASE!!!!!
Is Kong the most modular cooler made for the general public today? Cause that's awesome I've never seen anything like it I'm gonna go to coolersonsale.com for more information
The 70qt. This will be going on my boat in from of my center console currently have a shitty Magellan from academy on there. The boat was a demo and they kept the cooler so I just ran to academy and grabbed one.
I have a pelican 65 3 yrs roofing. We wouldnt go to work without it. Daily use dropping it, beating it up. Easy handles, and latches.. Good equipment. Those rubber lid locks would have broke long time ago. For daily use highly recommended
It's about a quarter of the price of a similar 12 volt fridge/freezer. I guess if you're only in public campgrounds with easy access to more ice it doesn't make much sense. I have an off grid property with a 3 mile long driveway. Last time I was there it took 45 minutes to drive that three miles(yes, it's that rough), and in some instances, weather events have made the road impassible. Other folks have been stuck there for several days as they simply couldn't get out. A trip to the store up there is a 2 hour round trip on a good day...if the nearest store is open and actually has ice. The "town" consists of a post office and a combination feed store/convenience store. Saying that they "roll the sidewalks up at dark" doesn't quite do it justice. Do the math on your fuel costs + vehicle wear + time + etc. and you'll figure out that $2 bag of ice actually costs a lot more than $2.

The 50 does have dual drain plugs. You can also flip the handles straight up and they will hold the lid open at about a 45 degree angle.
@Abraham Lopez what are seeing out of your 70qt as far as ice retention? How many days?
Abraham Lopez
My Kong 50 does not have 2 drains
Glad to see everyone is still innovating their coolers. Very nice setup!
This is definitely bad to the bone setup!
@@CoolersOnSale Where did you get the Kong that you reviewed from? Are they pretty much direct to consumer sales only? Thanks.

Ha ha, indeed, nice way to put it.
Very nice cooler, never seen any quite like the kong. Thanks for the detailed discription.

That thing lives up to the name. It is a beast!
Without a doubt!

Cordova is still a solid cooler, Kong is the king in terms of accessories.
Those are some smart guys! I love the color combinations also.
Yea, they have some cool color schemes indeed.
Awesome cooler! Now let's see the same review on the Otter Box.
wont the bottle opener also bolt the lids closed to make this bear proof?
Have they fixed the lid gasket leaking? I'd like to get this cooler for a number of reasons, but I was leaning towards going with a Lifetime 77 instead, because it's cheaper and doesn't leak at all.
Nice coolers! The accessories are extra though, the cutting board, the kicker, the kong-opener and the crush guard (the divider comes standard).
Yes, that's right, sorry, didn't mean to say they were all included.
You should test the Godzilla and Rodan coolers too.
Will add it to the list.
Dammmn I was ready to hate on it but now I want one so bad! Its very cool, those gadgets are helpful for us Oil field truck drivers.

I think it might be time to replace the old Pelican! Just curious, did you test the crush guard before you shot the video?
Ha ha, actually no! Got a little ballsy while filming.

Did you do the ice retention test with the cutting board on top? If not, how much more time do you think having the cutting board on top adds to the ice retention time?
No, we did not, but thats a great suggestion. We will have to try that.
Great idea, it should help ice retention, just like using a foam pad or thick cardboard.
Everyone is about to buy kong coolers and I'm about to buy Kong stock!
Is this a true 50 quart cooler? or the capacity is smaller? Thank you
This is a 50qt cooler.
How about testing the cascade mountain tech 45qt...just bought one and it seems to be doin really well.
Now, let's hear about that OtterBox. ✌
How does this compare to a canyon cooler?
Kysek, Orca, Kong for a 110 ish size cooler for hunting. Who gets your money?

Wich one is better, Pelican 50, Engel 50 or Kong 50?
I'd bet they're all good enough and you should shop for size, price, accessories, where it is manufactured, warranty, etc.
Agreed, if only considering ice retention, then the Kong 50: amzn.to/2NMCx5O
😭so many choices. Pelican or Kong?
And does the Kong leak?
Kong vs Kysek vs Maluna. Please and thank you

Do you know if the deny lock bar will still work?
Do you mean if Deny has a size that fits the Kong?
Man that is an awesome cooler.

What's your thoughts on otter box venture 45?
It held ice among the best, see it here: ruclips.net/video/_0YmWvLvcRA/видео.html
I have the venture 45 my sister has a yeti.... long story short shes getting a venture now lol
Looks to be about 10 lbs heavier than a Yeti 45 which a sizable difference
Maybe it would of passed the leak test if it didn't have a split seal. The opening is where it was leaking.
Def my next cooler thanks charlie , great review . hey yall don't forget pound that like button

The cutting board sees like a great idea but it doesn’t seem very sturdy functionally. A cutting board that isn’t sturdy or stable is dangerous
I guess it really depends on what you're planning on using it for. I think assuming you're not butchering something it should hold up.

In terms of ice retention, they were dethroned years ago, but in terms of build quality, I think the Kong or Otterbox takes the cake
