Finally someone mentioning the vivid setting. I thought i was blind.... to me vivid is what made the monitor look like an "OLED" i dont get all the other tweaks and reviews telling me to change to gamer 1 edit black level, gamma, etc. It looks worst and nothing even like an OLED with those settings but vivid setting does.
I just got this on sale at $699. I'm a firefighter and game some during downtime at the station. I knew I wanted an OLED and when I saw this on sale I couldn't pass it up. Probably should have looked at reviews beforehand but I'm glad to see it was a good purchase. Playing on a PS5. Might buy 2 more for home home PC setup. Thanks for the video.

I got this today and love the image quality & insane response times so far. Brightness is totally fine if you can control the day light coming into your room. I even turn brightness down to 80% at night as I find I’m quite sensitive to bright screens. Only minor issue I’m having is some occasional flickering when using adaptive sync in Hunt Showdown, haven’t tried many other games yet but workaround is just turn off adaptive sync in gpu driver settings and the fps is high enough that screen tearing is minimal
Since I’m considering buying this monitor I’ve been watching a lot of these reviews videos and yours stood out. Wow. Great content subscribed. Also I’m buying a arm like yours.
I choked on air while laughing on your “choke on air” joke 😂😂😂 P.S. As a person who currently sitting on MacBook Air M1 with a glossy screen, there is NO WAY I am going back to matte one.
I just picked this up and I can say it's better than my Asus ROG 4K IPS monitor. I really can't see the difference between 4K and 1440p while gaming all while getting an extra 50+ fps over 4K with my RTX 4080. I've learned that 4K is unnecessary for a desktop monitor as it's so pixel dense that 4K vs 1440p isn't easy to see. Oh and OLED>>>>>>>>>IPS all day and it's not even close!
when you turn yours on with the remote does it beep a sound cause mine was doing that for 2months then all of a sudden it didn’t after having the monitor for 2months
I’ll be honest man. Unless you just have the extra money, there’s no need to get a monitor like this. You’re better off getting the C2 OLED since it’s around the same price but a better deal overall. If you’re specifically looking for an OLED monitor and price isn’t so much of an issue, Asus has one that’s brighter since people really prefer that. Same display, just brighter. You can also get a 32” 4K monitor for cheaper that has VRR honestly. It’s all dependent on what you’re looking for, how much you’re willing to spend, and whether or not you want OLED. The moment you decide “I want OLED,” you’re attacking your own wallet. Hahah.

i love this monitor but the only thing i dont like is the harsh ABL (auto-brightness leveling). Do you have this problem with yours as well or is it just me?
Hey bro I just bought one and I want to know if you know by any chance if the monitor need some firmware update or smtg since mine is pretty black and dar k in any game and the bright is annoying to play 😭
For now! Actually ended up returning the C2 since the C3 was announced. I’m waiting for the C3 in 42”. I’m in Canada so it’s always slower to hit my region. Think I’m going to sell the Apple Studio display for the C3.
I bought the same one a couple of days ago and it looks very good, but I have noticed that the brightness goes down only when opening games and even if I turn it up it stays low, and it goes up again automatically when I go to RUclips or depending on what applications. .. Do you know how you can change that?
Hi man, thanks for the video! How would you compare using this monitor to the 42 inch LG C2 you had before? Does it feel underwhelming going back to a 27 inch or is it a nice change?
27" would be quite the downgrade for some people from a 42" however the problem with the C2 is that it's only 120 Hz. OLED still uses the atrocious sample-and-hold method of refreshing the image like LCD does. This sample-and-hold refresh method becomes a huge motion-clarity bottleneck and that's why, even with "0.03 ms" pixel response times, the motion clarity at 120 Hz on OLED is still crap like on 120 Hz LCD. You need at least around 170-180 Hz to finally start removing that bottleneck so that you can actually get any visual benefit from the extremely fast pixel response times of OLED. 200 Hz is where you can see a big difference. 240 even better of course. I have the LG 45" 240 Hz OLED along with multiple LCD monitors (LG 38GN950-B 38" IPS 160 Hz, Samsung Odyssey G7 non-Neo 32" VA 240 Hz, and more) and have done all sorts of motion clarity tests between 100 and 240 Hz on them all. Under 170-ish Hz, the motion clarity of the OLED is not really any better yet the difference is huge when you get up to 200 Hz, let alone 240 Hz.

Do you own this monitor or just testing? I can share some "secrets" with you in order to access 3 settings in the service menu to increase brightness further if you'd like. It only requires a generic LG service remote which can easily be found and bought for like 7 dollars.
@@MinimalisTech OK. Here are the steps: 1. Press In Start on the remote. This should bring up the service menu. 2. Set "AGING" to "ON" to get access to more settings. 3. Set "HDR enable" to "ON" (works for SDR only) 8. Exit menu and you're done. Important Notes: - Don't mess with any other settings unless you know what you're doing. I severely messed up my picture editing other settings like all sorts of brightness and HDR calibration settings. They don't improve brightness even if the name of the setting sounds like it will. - The 3 settings we changed all reset when the monitor is turned off, sleep mode, etc. No big deal for me, I usually only enable them when gaming anyways (or if watching a "grand" movie), plus, it literally takes like 8 seconds to enable them. - The "HDR enable" setting also gets reset in some other circumstances. I think when changing resolution of the monitor or something. - None of the settings get disabled automatically just out of nowhere (eg. during gameplay) or anything. Not from my experience at least. - If you mess with other settings, keep in mind that a lot of the settings DO NOT get reset when the monitor is powered off/on. Some settings do but not all. I messed with all sorts of settings, experimenting with everything and the only way I was able to fully make sure all my settings were back to default was to downgrade the firmware (takes 1-2 hrs) and then re-upgrade the firmware back to the current version (takes another 1-2 hours). - the 3 settings can all be "stacked on top of each other" for max brightness. - Even with the same brightness, contrast, etc. settings, Gamer 2 mode is slightly brighter than Gamer 1 mode, while Vivid mode is brighter still. At first, I wondered if the 3 service menu settings just increased the brightness of Gamer 1 & 2 modes to match that of Vivid mode - even just that would have been an awesome improvement - but it's more than that. Even with all 3 service menu settings enabled, Gamer 2 will still be capable of extra brightness compared to Gamer 1 and Vivid still more so than both. What do the settings do?: 1. CPC enable: This setting, on by default, gives the entire picture's brightness a vignette effect. This means the brightness is at it's highest in the middle of the screen and gets dimmer further from the middle in all directions (up, down, left, right). Disabling this settings gives the entire picture the same max brightness that the middle of the screen uses. 2. LEA refresh enable: Setting this setting to "OFF" gives the entire image a slight brightness increase. It's probably the least noticeable of the 3 settings but it's still a little bit. When enabling and disabling the setting back & forth to test, it's easier to notice the setting being disabled (brightness increase) than it is to see it being enabled (brightness decrease). The reason for this is because the brightness increases instantly when you disable the setting (like with most settings) but, when enabling the setting, the brightness decreases gradually over a 1-2 second period. 3. HDR enable: Normally, in SDR mode, the screen is limited to a certaint brightness (let's say 200 nits just for example). What this brilliant setting does is give SDR mode the same increased max brightness that HDR allows. Enabling this setting will mean an increase in brightness at anything other than a full, 100% white screen (basically almost all the time). Even when there's a lot of white/light in a scene, like a fps shooter or racing game where the light/bright sky occupies a lot of the screen, this setting while still give a big bump in brightness so don't worry about the whole "100% white screen thing". Worst case scenario (100% fullscreen white window), it'll simply be as if the setting is disabled. It will never make the image less bright.
