Who knew the time could be improved this much? I'm sure it could be taken down even further, but I'm not the kind of person to do endless runs for perfect luck. Also, Calamity 1.4 port is on the horizon, and I'm sure that will bring some interesting new tricks. Only time will tell...

A: patched in 1.4
Q: How'd you get perfect reforges?
A: In Calamity, exactly six reforges will get the best modifier on any weapon.
Q: What is giving you the crazy mining speed?
A: Set bonus from gold armor added by Calamity, and mining potions.
Q: Why the gender change potion?
A: I prefer the look of armor sets on the male character model.
Q: How'd you get so lucky with X drop?
A: most cases are changes made by Calamity. check the wiki if unsure.

Here's a fun fact for you:
A terrarian day cycle is about 24 minutes. This video is 2 hours and 14 minutes. That means that your character managed to go from nothing to killing literal gods in around 6 days.

That's how it's meant to work. That's how mine USED to work but as stated in my comment, a black box pops up, flashes me with code and disappears in like 2 seconds.
The reason Roxalibur wasn't usable is because it only becomes usable in hardmode. Don't ask me why, calamity's devs are just weird like that.
Yeah, watching them delete it hurt a bit, if anything it lets you get to the underworld in a few seconds

Still amazed how crazy fast you can dig with just a gold bar tier pickaxe and mining potions. Draedon update is a blessing and normal terraria will never be the same.

Thats Purified Jam, which isnt available anymore in 1.4. You used to get it through Slime God.

From my play through recently, the stream gouge has been severely nerfed/reworked. for speedrunning through yharon, what would be the best melee replacement?

How on earth did you manage to line that quickly in the beginning? I highly doubt a gold pickaxe and a mining potion provides that fast of a mining speed. If it did I’d see a lot more runners using this strat.

This is how I would speedrun calamity mod:
Kill the wall
Kill 3 mechs
Obtain chlorophyte
Kill planters
Kill golem
Get beetle armor and kill cultists
Obtain daybreak+dragon+solar flare and kill moonlord
Kill profaned guardians
Kill providence and farm for loots
Kill the rune of koz bosses
Kill DoG and farm for loots
Kill yharon and farm for loots and get murasama
Get auric armor
Kill exo mechs for atom splitter rogue weapon because it is OP.
Kill calamitas and bask in your world record time and fame.
Y'know if you name your character Samuel Rodriguez you can use the Murasama before killing Yharon. Thats what the whole "ID Locked" thing is about. The Murasama is Jetstream Sam's sword from Metal Gear Rising Revengeance and Samuel Rodriguez is his name. Considering how early you were able to get it, it might be a big time saver to do that cause it could be your main weapon for a large portion of the run considering how good it is.
If you read the description of the video he put “No Name Abuse” and I assume that means he can’t put that as his name to use it earlier on.

@@TwentySeventhLetter At 1:53:48 the sentinels spawn which he despawns and then DoG switches to phase 2. You can tell by looking at the map, in phase 1 the map only shows the head and tail, meanwhile in phase 2 it shows the whole body.

i have so many questions about this route. you do so many seemingly pointless things and yet somehow still end up with a sub 2:15 scal
1. why the gender swap potion
2. why fight the post ML pre DOG bosses in that order
3. why the hell did you summon a solar eclipse right before scal
1. for fun
2. polterghast is easy to kill and gives access to strong weapons
3. dark sun ring bonus stats

I thought calamity speedrunning was abandoned years ago from Hectique.
it took me like 7 videos in my calamity mod playthrough to get to lava layer and this guy does it in like 15 minutes..

this dude: 6 days from absolutely nothing to defeating literal gods

idea:
if you were able to, do dragonfolly pre-ml and do yharon after, defeat moonlord with yharon weapons and beat providence with op weapons, then mine all the stuff you need and do scal, this is rhe difficult method.

i opened ~2.5k wooden crates in hardmode and only got palladium and cobalt.
was i just unlucky or do you have to do something before titanium / adamantite start appearing?
Calamity reworks early hardmode progression; mythril, titanium, and hallowed bars are all locked behind beating mech bosses. It can be disabled in the configuration options

It's unlikely that I will do a commentary, but I will probably make a written explanation for this or a future run (I already made one for my 3:36 run). I'll be sure to include timestamps that reference this video so you can follow along.

15:07 did you really take damage just to see if you needed to craft the Gender Change potion? Spending 20 seconds to make sure your character is male doesn't seem like the best use of time but probably worth.
Gender change pot is pretty useless imo it only gives cosmetic changes but no stat boosts
It all was planned because male stronger than female means more damage means faster boss kills

First time watching a calamity speed run, what was all the teleporting you were doing for around an hour in?
Gotta find stuff, not worth running all over the map, teleporting is faster even if you get terrible RNG

Q: why does he remove all the buffs before buffing again?
I thought that it would work the same if he just buffed without having to remove them
It resets the timer so the buffs last longer before fights
I've played a good thousand hours of pure calamity in 1.3 and there is no fucking way that you are mining that fast with just a gold pick + gold armor. No way.

Question: how come most attacks didnt damage you even when they hit you 🤔
The Slime God drops an item that makes you invincible for a few seconds. The drop is only given ONCE per character, giving you a batch of X potions. He simply duped it like everything else, and there we have it, the most broken potion in the game lol

How do you reforge so fast? you seem to know how many times to click to get the perfect reforge. Noticed it first with the legendary sword you got but thought it was a fluke. Now it happened again at 1:17:43 when you got unreal. Is this some calamity thing or what I've never seen this.
In vanilla terraria reforging is completely random but calamity tweaks it so that after 4-5 reforges it gives you the best outcome (unreal or ledgendary)

He has a potion specific to calamity that I’ve never seen, it’s some kinda invincibility potion but it only lasts 7 seconds.

Calamity reworked the reforging system to always inprove the reforge each time you click it. That means in 6 clicks or less for weapons, it's a guaranteed best reforge.

The duplication glitch still works just have to be in single player and do the setup every time, by the way thanks for it it really helped me in my world
