- Terraria Calamity mod is known for it's difficulty. The bosses in the mod are incredibly difficult, with hard to read and master attack patterns, and a stupid amount of projectiles. So, in this first part of a two part series, I decided to do something incredibly dumb and attempt to complete Master Mode Terraria on Calamity's hardest difficulty, Death Mode. It was a mistake.

3:29 tip for ya, this is a built in arena for plantera, the bulbs at the bottom can be broke later to spawn plantera without having to find one

The best way I have found for dealing with Ravager is to fight him underwater. It significantly slows him down and you can just use a flipper potion to out maneuver him.
Watching you do this is so amazing, because about 2 weeks ago I started my run, and am currently just taking a break at Providence since it just feels absolutely impossible (even with the class setup wiki page.) It's nice to see that some of your bossfights went through the same strategies mine have.
Hey the village in underground jungle is just a free plantera arena. Destroying those large bulbs does spawn it

As someone that did empress on daytime as soon as i found out that she had a rare drop if done during daytime i can relate to your "i do know this boss pretty well" took me like 20 or 30 tries, used solar armor and a daybreak in mastermode vanilla. Tried her yesterday after over a year and it only took me a couple of fights to get uswed to her attacks again (not enough to re-do her during daytime yet)

I was doing Master FtW Death mode and got all the way up to Golem because I had no chance against bosses where I would play at 10 fps. The only viable way for almost every boss is to maximize all the mobility you can possibly get which forces you to have low damage let alone the bosses having much more health from FtW. I would really like to see someone like you attempt this difficulty because this is the hardest difficulty playthrough of calamity mod that I've seen on youtube.
Also if you are gonna accept this challenge then pick corruption as world evil because of BoC moving at Storm Weaver dash speed with instant acceleration in any direction.
Such determination, I struggle with vanilla MM lmaooo

I actually just finished this challenge myself, and let me tell you I was stuck on yharon and scal each for multiple days. Prob didn’t help that it was my first modded run ever lol. Anyways, good luck on the run!
I find that this mode is not difficult until the final 4 bosses
Not a singe boss pre-DoG took over 6 attempts, but each of the final 4 (DoG, Yharon, Scal, exo), took me over 2 and a half hours to beat each, all taking over 50 attempts.
I think his main issue was lack of mobility, was moon lord is an easy first attempt boss with its mechanics not being too different.

Hey, Let's Go! I also did a Melee Master Death Mode run and JESUS! The Post-Moon Lord pain it can't be described, like for each boss you need this specific accessories and specific arenas to beat them, because if you don't you're gonna die A LOT. I even had to use the Fearmonger armor for the last 2 bosses because even tho it's technically a summoner armor, it gives insane life regeneration and paired with other life and defensive accessories I was actually able to actually survive and beat the last 2 bosses. Also Zenith it's the best melee weapon for Exo Mecs, don't @ me.
For a future modded series you should use Boss Checklist (to check what boss is next) and Fargo's Mutant (to help with farming, and no, it's not the Fargo's Souls mod). For a future let's play maybe do Thorium, Mod of Redemption, Spirit, etc... basically something to relax the pain before going back at it.
I did use boss checklist, was a pretty helpful mod. I think next maybe I'll do Spirit mod, idk

That "abandoned town" The jungle is a plantera arena and the big bulbs on the bottom are plantera bulbs
cj deathbot i would like to see a challenge where you use chain maces like the ball o' hurt ,flairon and it is possible there are a couple chain maces through out the entire playthrough from the beginning of pre hardmode till the beginning of hardmode and end

Hey, just a tip for you in early hardmode, USE THE CELESTIAL CLAYMORE. I cannot tell you how much it carried me through calamitas and cryogen (I was in master mode death mode as well.)
how do you reach calamitas clone with it? afaik celestial claymore is true melee. Also does it work for Plantera too because i'm having a lot of trouble with her(using Daedalus Armor + Ark of the Ancients, i can barely make it through phase 1 and then i get destroyed by Phase 2(when it reaches 50% hp it's Phase 2)

I'm currently doing a calamity MM Death mode playthrough as melee, i've just yesterday defeated old duke (going by boss checklist order), and i gotta say that this is hard and frustrating, but i really do feel like i'm getting better at the game.
I really never had an issue with master death mode, i was definitely wanting to beat my head against the wall if you times, but all in all, I loved it.
Master eternity? I recently completed it and it is a challenge and then some I think that would be super cool to see
My first time playing calamity me and my friend played death and master, he had only played reveangence expert and from what I remember, plaguebringer, providence, and exo mechs gave us the most trouble, exo mechs took about a week of us playing for an hour or two a day it was so difficult, but it was a blast

I was stuck on the weirdest things like WoF and Profaned Guardians.
Also, this was my first encounter with the Exo Mechs so I was stuck on them also, but this isn't surprising lol.

Wall of flesh is literally just flying up, dropping down, and then flying up again over and over

you should try infernum master mode next, i started infernum for the worthy master mode and its been about 3 weeks and i havnt beaten moonlord yet, its honestly the most difficult thing i've done in any game
The funny thing is, master mode is not really too much of a challenge but death is extremely difficult but master feels far more difficult when death is added
The issue with playing death mode on master mode is that it’s clearly not designed for it, every boss in hardmode has atleast 100k health and 2 shots you and also is a lot faster than you, I was playing through it on rogue because I thought it would be a fun challenge. It was not
Just finished a Death+Masochist+For The Worthy playthrough, doing an Infernuim+Masochist+For The Worthy playthrough now. (Masochist mode is Master+Eternity mode from Fargo's Souls Mod)

I would suggest a Getfixedboi Calamity Playthrough once it comes out, but I don't think I'll be around once the video releases because that sounds like it will take _some_ time

On the cryogen part of the video currently, and I think a lot of us underestimate the power of running left and right and it working against bosses lol
A few months ago i got a laptop so i was able to play Terraria pc for the first time, and i naturally downloaded mods since ive played vanilla on mobile a bunch of times already. On a thorium playthrough (will eventually touch calamity after) currently and was really struggling against a boss til i just ran left and right and it worked and i never died afterwards. Forgot what boss it was but yeah lol
Me n a friend completed expert death mode a month ago, very fun game.
i did a run of this as a summoner and got very pissed off at the devourer of gods because my minions kept randomly desummoning themself
considering the fight was already taking super long this was very annoying to deal with
oh yeah it was pretty difficult too everything kind of deletes you in two hits. its kind of cool how that forces you to play well or just get nuked instantly but the health pools get very irritating
calamity modes are built for expert mode, not master. playing on master mode not only makes them incredibly hard, but unfair and unenjoyable.
I would love to see an eternity mode playthorugh
You should try and do Expert/Infernium mode. I'm currently doing it as ranger and its CRAZY.

I myself am just finishing up a master mode, for the worthy, death mode playthrough of calamity. (this play through made me want to stomach stab sword myself multiple times.)

I think calamity is really hard and incentivises getting better at game mechanics but revengeance and subsequently death mode are really just steps of more and more required skill. In revengeance you have to be pretty good at dodging to maintain your health enough but it doesnt matter that much you dont need to constantly fight for adrenaline. In death mode constant dodging is almost a requirement i feel like, some bosses are borderline impossible if you cant consistently build up adrenaline
my tip for this mode is do summoner because me and my friend did this mode quicker with summoner than master revengence with melee and ranged(ignore that run being my friends first true time with many bosses and me doing master death already with mage)
My man out here just skipping crabulon even tho he drops a permanent upgrade to adrenaline lol
play infernum mode calamity, its a difficulty that overhauls different parts of calamity, specifically most bossfights.
You could try infernum next :)

My friend and I are doing master revengence mode and it is already so hard, and it is also our first time playing terraria together, and our first time for both of us playing calamity lmao, cause he just got a pc

The first time I played calamity I accidentally killed the corruptions version of the perforators waaayyy before I was supposed to, enraged because it was surface corruption instead of underground as well

I've never tried Death Mode but I did beat Infernum recently and that was mostly luck with how some of the bosses get reworked in that.

I’m doing a infernum plat through right now. Just beat the 3 sentinels and haven’t dared to spawn DoG so I killed polterghast instead (which was hard but kinda fun)

DoG is crazy! Probably my favourite fight.
They took out they silly sentinels phases, it's all DoG and all action. There's even a mod that makes it so Master mode works with Infernum :x
I wanna redo it with the re-released DBZ mod and Calamity addon so it feels like I have a chance.
now do for the worthy master mode death mode. its harder then infernum mode worthy master because for the worthy actually changes AI and size somewhat instead of just adding hp. For example cryogen has 130k hp, i believe it spawns more projectiles and its more aggressive.
so to sum it up: for the worthy with infernum is not as hard as for the worthy with death mode
i believe this because every boss in infernum for the worthy has relatively the same ai, just more hp.
For the worthy, hardcore, and deathmode
this is the first thing i'm attempting only using melee, currently on yharon and there are so many graves

Now you should try out Master mode with the calamity extension mod called infernum since it has a harder difficulty than Death mode. If you do try this, good luck with providence and polterghast since they were by far the hardest bosses to me when I did this.
The moon lord was also quite annoying

My first playthrough was expert revenger and it was too easy, so I desided to beat calamity on death mode with only flamethrowers
that's some insane luck with defensive modifiers you have there
Also really interesting how the craw carapace gives 5 defenses as a cloaked modifier is that because the craw carapace used to give defense instead of dmg now?
Pro tip for golem the big katana thing you can make i forgot its name but it melts him
