Great video! Love the 1.0 pistol grip on my Spider X Chalk. I have a 35 inch shaft, but like a heavier weight in my putter. Would the weight have changed going with a 34 inch? Thanks!
Yes 100% you will have made the overall weight lighter and changed the swingweight (balance point) by about 6 points.... it's a lot, you need to add 12 grams back to the head to get close to where you were
@@trottiegolf Thanks Trottie for the reply! After I posted my question, I saw the weight for both 34 and 35 have the same weight of 355gms on TM’s website. I trust you most, but where is the 12gm weight difference you noted?
@@brad5958 I'm referring to swing weight.... swing weight is everything it's the balance point. You mention in your first comment "...but I like a heavier weight in my putter." What you are experiencing is a heavier swing weight, a heavier balance point, if you watch and follow my swing weight video this will become clear to you. By adding the 12g if you've cut 1" off the butt then you'll be back to the original swing weight which means the head will feel heavy in your hands once more..... hopefully that makes sense, bottom line .... think of weight as a balance point not a head weight & that head weight needs to change (in an ideal world) when it comes to changing the length of the shaft if you want to maintain a certain feel. SWINGWEIGHT is SO IMPORTANT to getting the perfect feel through a set of golf clubs, if that's the only thing you take from my content then it's a win, if you don't get the right swingweight then a putter, driver, iron, wedge may not work out the way it could if you got the swingweight dialled....
@@trottiegolf great explaination to Brad’s question Trottie. But then thats leads to another question 😂 How do you determine whether you have the correct swing weight? i have tested many times by adding/removing weight from the head and the countercore grips (superstroke ofcourse) yet its hard to gauge which swingweight is correct. The pro-shop answer is “whatever your comfortable with” But your hands quickly adapt to both heavier or lighter ‘feeling’ headweights after a few weeks. @@889faz Good question 1) find a club that works for you, that you like, then measure that. That's a good start point. 2) If you're over the age of 30 and used a ping as a kid, then chances are you can relate to lighter , softer shafts, more so apparent for older folks of the Wilson 8802 generation. 3) Younger players will be able to relate to mallet's more, heavier headweights, heavier swing weights D8 - E0 range. Ultimately this is a personal choice but I think you can narrow down your start points based on your history and what you have enjoyed in years gone by, if you're new to the game then don't get too funky, live in the D6 - E0 world and start there, 80/90's kid don't rule out C8 - D5 especially if you're on quick greens. I'm not gonna name drop but I've talked to a lot of top PLYR's on this and some of them feel that the putter should swing weight the same as your driver, I don't that as a set up but I prefer to base it on personal feels and if you need to be guided go off your past. Hey there, nice video! So I am left small-motor dominant (write/fork/toothbrush left and do everything else right) and putt with a regular overlap grip....I struggle leaving the putter face slightly open at impact. Which super stroke would you recommend I try? I was thinking traxion tour 2.0 but you've got me curious about the flatso 2.0 now.
I like the flatso, this comes down more to personal preference I think at this stage. You have to hold them and figure out if you're okay with the 2.0 as that's very wide & you can lose feel (in my opinion) if you go too far with the width. Also I believe left small-motor dominant is great for the short game, at least history shows that to be the case
What’s the typical length of putter you see on tour. I’ve read somewhere that the average is under 34, which seems really short. Thanks for all the goodies
Good info. Obv not easy to answer without seeing it but I'd keep it on the thinner end of the spectrum & given that you're going left hand low the Flatso with its Flat top in a 1.0 would be my recommendation if I had to give one. Just get your hands set & your thumbs on top and rock that left hand low move.
Trottie, if i have say a scotty putter with 2 20g (40g total) weights in the head. then change grips. lets say the grip is 20 grams lighter than stock.. to get back to the swing weight would that mean adding/subtracting 20 grams to the head? or is there a formula for us who dont have the scale to weigh out the putter? thanks
I recently switched to cross-handed grip with evenroll mallet er7. It comes with the standard slim grip, but I don’t feel comfortable using it. What kind of superstroke grip would you recommend in this case?
It's funny, tour players could putt with a garden hoe that was ran over by your 18 year old in an f150. Rickie Fowler and Wyndham Clark are going to sell a ton of putters this week. Im.goung to try a zenergy grip. I have the original spider
I change A LOT!! purely as a result of not enough practice. General rule I try to be close to face balanced but if I lose all feel I'll move to toe hang and work my way back. I like a more straight back straight through stoke but sometimes I let my instincts take over and just have fun with it

For whatever reason the spider tour x feels heavier, or the weight feels more concentrated in the body of the club head, than the spider tour I’m currently using. Is there a way to achieve a weightier feel to the tour so I don’t have to buy a new putter?
Check swing weights first & confirm those thoughts.... once done you can find a good repair guy and make the necessary changes. I have a video on the #tourtrucktuesday playlist about swing weights , check it out ⛳️
@@trottiegolf just watched the swing weight video. Thanks for posting. So my understanding is that even though the two heads weigh the same the tour x may feel heavier bc of a lighter butt/grip end of the club relative to the spider tour?

It's funny, tour players could putt with a garden hoe that was ran over by your 18 year old in an f150. Rickie Fowler and Wyndham Clark are going to sell a ton of putters this week. Im.goung to try a zenergy grip. I have the original spider
If you are missing strike point on the putter face, would you go more head weight?
Not necessarily.... I’d look at eye position and the foundations. Meaning how consistent is your set up and stance width ⛳️
Would you say the Flatso 2.0 would be better than the 1.0 for the prayer grip?
Try Two Thumb or 2.0 flatso • tough to get feel with the real fat ones that’s my call out
What was the name of the grip you used with the claw\pencil grip?
Not sure, I think it's a Super Stroke
Trottie is the man #TTT
What putter do you use Trottie?
I change A LOT!! purely as a result of not enough practice. General rule I try to be close to face balanced but if I lose all feel I'll move to toe hang and work my way back. I like a more straight back straight through stoke but sometimes I let my instincts take over and just have fun with it
@@trottiegolf awsome, you keeping it a secret lol. I just made a purchase of the Copper and White Spider X. I have a slight arc, will that putter suit me?
@@nischroopram9948 Like it!
Whats the shortest length putter you have built. I want to try short with heavy weight in the top of the super stroke grip
About 30” ..... tough to go shorter than that for an adult ⛳️
Hey trottie I have a spider x and I feel my hands and wrist to much in my stroke. I have m/l hands and was trying to decide between the 2.0 and 3.0 superstroke any help with this?
For me 2.0... then get the swingweight in the high D’s low E’s, that’s critical
@@trottiegolf thanks man appreciate the answer love your videos.
Sick shoes!
Just to clear one thing i have big hands and most of the time I can’t control my face of putter is fat grip gonna help it rn i have rbz set putter
Yes a larger grip will help you, consider the Flatso from Superstroke and providing it's on square that should help you with face awareness
Thank you so much i do want to know one more thing that which size I should go for as i am a intermediate and confused ?
@@anujsoni5256 you should look at the 1.0 & the 2.0
Hi thank you so much for info just one more thing I am actually going for 3.0 but confused to go with either pistol or tour or flatso ( hard to find third one ) what's the major difference please let me know it would be a big help
@@anujsoni5256 Flatso Flat top, Pistol fits more into the hand
Chris T what do you think of the P2 and its concepts???💪💪💪👏👏👏👊👊👊👍👍👍
P2? Are we talking a certain model?
No sure pal, can’t say I know it by that name 🤷🏻♂️.... if you mean pistol 2.0 then yea it’s great if it fits your 🤚🏻
@@trottiegolf no specific make google P2 golf putter grips wud b so interested in ur point of view💪💪💪👍👍👍
@@craigedga4r ahhhhh yea I know that grip, we don’t do too many on tour so limited experience with it, if you like it then sure it’s worth a shot
@@trottiegolf do you think the concept is real or a gimmick??? In principal makes sense but does it actually, what r ur thoughts Chris ie anything that creates a consistent putting stroke 💪👍🙂🤔
I have a video on the #tourtrucktuesday playlist about swing weights , check it out ⛳️
@@trottiegolf thanks so much!!!
@@trottiegolf just watched the swing weight video. Thanks for posting. So my understanding is that even though the two heads weigh the same the tour x may feel heavier bc of a lighter butt/grip end of the club relative to the spider tour?
@@adammimran BOOM - you got it PLYR
Awesome awesome awesome
What grip would you recommend for someone who grips it tightish and has a brooks koepka grip? But doesn’t love huge grips.
Personal feel a huge one, do you want to stick with SuperStroke? They make thinner grips now that do have some taper but I'll be honest I like the constant taper myself. All depends on your hand size and your preferences but any of the 1.0 size isn't overly wide
@@trottiegolf I don’t really care if it is superstroke or not, I currently play a Scotty Cameron pistolini plus and my hand size is m/L.
@@skywalkerindy8784 I get it, all's I'm saying is that when I change grips on the Tour in the putter area, it's either to putt a superstroke on or switch to a different superstoke model. Golf Pride comes into play for the thinner option but you said you're already in that space. Only one way to scratch that itch, get out there and test .... Good luck fella
@@trottiegolf thanks
Awesome 😍💋 💝💖♥️❤️
All the garbage golf videos and here trottie only has 8k subs? This is an absolute travesty.
Ha Ha, I hear ya fella but in all fairness a lot of the " influencer " type guys have been at this for years & have put some serious time in. I have a great full time job with an awesome company, this isn't my main deal and just something I felt was missing during lockdown..... I guess this pandemic gave me some time. Regardless great comment & nice to read, I'll do all I can to keep bringing what I can as the PGA season revs up......
@@trottiegolf I still won't accept it. Keep it up!
