I switched to Jumbomax after seeing Bryson and Peter Finch talk about them a few years ago. I tried a few different version of Jumbomax, but found the one I like (its 2 sizes down from the "Bryson Size" and I will never use a regular grip after that. My wrists have never felt better after using them for 2 seasons now on different woods/irons/wedges Great video, Martin!
I did that aswell, same story much straighter ballflights. Only downside, you gotta adapt the grip strength. I tended to grip too hard on the bigger grips
The Jumbo Maxx Medium size grips changed my game completely! As someone whos had is left hand reconstructed, these grips helped with feel and comfort. My hand is no longer sore or in pain and the end of the round.
What numbers did you see change out of curiosity? Would this help with being steep at all? ( only driver issue not other clubs - thinking out the box / or dreaming lol )
@@Fs1891-y5dI used to be really steep with driver… like hitting down 1 or 2 degrees with driver but set up is what fixed that more than the grips. Biggest change from grips I saw was how i released the club. Everyone body is going to react/adapt differently when going to larger grips. For me they helped with face angle and consistency of my face at impact. With regular grips I’d snap the face closed getting the duck hook left as I was over using my hands closing the club face down in the swing was too much. With the jumbo max grip I started to release the swing with the turn of my body more. So a more consistent face angle and launch direction is what I saw. Did it fix all my swing issues?? Absolutely not but it gave me a more consistent swing and I learned to play that swing and have shot much lower scores with jumbo max grips.
@@Fs1891-y5d I bought just two grips at first from a local store after doing their “grip fitter” online. It sized me in a Small. I Put them on my 8 iron and one on my driver and went to the range couple times before spending the $$ on a full set. But I liked the results I saw. Now I play them on all my clubs, even wedges.
@@colecole4774that’s awesome getting club face control that way. I struggle a bit with setup too but am actively working on it. I’m gonna try the jumbo max on a club for sure now. I get that odd release at times too. I wonder if the extra diameter in the grips puts your forearm >wrist > hands in a more natural feeling state. Not sure if I explained my guess right or not. I’ve noticed with some grip adjustments things just go naturally and then getting a bit too strong can make me hit hooks. Is there any particular club you’d recommend to try this out on first based on your experience with it?
Very interesting video. Being an ex-boxer, I have hand issues. This could help me out immensely. Thanks Martin for this concept, I really appreciate it.
Just switched to jumbo max ultra lite medium grips throughout the bag. Has straightened out my ball flight but also allowed me to swing more freely instead of trying to direct the ball. Love them. I need to find a local fitter to try out the various weight grips too.
I just went with the jumbomax this season and I'm excited to get them out on the course. The consistency in the shot shape is going to be a game changer.
I use the STR8 Medium. I just didn’t feel comfortable with the Ultralight XL. The fitting told me Large, but I actually went to medium and those felt great. I also use normal length irons, with a normal setup (not a Bryson or single plane setup). I don’t stick the grip way into my palms. I pretty much didn’t change my swing setup at all. But the grips have allowed me much better consistency. Dispersion is much better. I also don’t have my wrists killing me anymore. My swing is just a lot more stable and almost effortless. I’m so glad I changed.
Jumbomax grips are the main reason I’ve dropped my handicap to 0 in the past 2 years, it literally has changed everything for me. As an old tennis pro and a kid who grew with a hockey stick it made sense, but at first I was holding it in my fingers like a normal golf grip and it wasn’t bad, results were maybe a more consistent straighter ball but I was still having big misses with it, my backswing would end up getting too long & wristy on top of swing especially. Then came a RUclips video of Bryson 2 years ago showing & explaining how he holds the grip in the palms not fingers-which of course is a very “weak” grip in left hand VS the conventional grip all teachers teach. Anyway I freaking love em cause they are more than just a grip but an introduction to swinging like Bryson, thus a golf aid. Try it, it is truly amazing & so surprising that not more players are using them and the swing that will come from it, like the 2x and current US Open Champion.
Fairly new golfer here: I love my jumbo max grips. Coming from other sports standard and midsize just don’t feel right and even in my swing I either felt that the club was moving around in my hands during the swing or I was over gripping. Going to JMax Smalls and Mediums was an instant improvements in fit feel and comfort. Ultimately I’m a feel first then numbers second but you need both. If it feels great you’re going to have more confidence which will lead to more consistency and less tension and apprehension. At least that’s my impressions applying principles as I can from other sports that I’m more versed in to golf and it’s working. The numbers you can adapt to or adjust in other ways.
For generations, people have cried for answers from the sky. Martin is here to finally answer them. As his booming voice thunders from above "I DO, I WEAR SHORT-SHORTS!"
Didn't even know "grip fitting" was a thing but would love to try. Currently use MCC +4 Midsize grips and relative to the standard size grips, it's been helping me control my face and keep the pressure lighter on the grip. I can only imagine the improvements with a proper fitting...

I also very much like that you added some capsules of explanations (even though I am a launch monitor owner and a data junkie... ) On that note, just one small thing : you were mentioning spin axis in the the video, while it really was the HLA number you were referring to. Not that it will confuse many people, cause either they already understood, or they were not following anyway. :P

Counter balancing with a standard grip is the same. The added weight in our hands and arms, induces golfers to swing harder; just as we put more effort into lifting a heavy box compared to a light box.

What golf course is that?
Where can I get fitted like this?
Do it Martin, I did and it was night and day.
How does someone get fitted for a grip
I feel the numbers...
Them shorts painted on?
Martin I think imma have a 300 yd drive & than I end up 220 to the right 😅
It has always been a mystery to me why grips were always so thin. It seemed to me that it was down to nothing other than history and the simple fact that it was the only way to make golf clubs when Tom Morris was playing. Now, when we can do almost anything, thin grips are just ridiculous.
Where is the jumbo grip driver vid with numbers? Wanna see the comparison to your normal figures.
