Love your team-ups with AJ. Thank you, and well done 🙏
Good content. I switched to larger grips a few years and won't be going back. One thing that nobody thinks about is fitting all of those jumbo grips in your bag. 14 giant grips takes up a lot of room and you need a big bag to accommodate. It can be difficult for me to get my club back in my bag because it is crowded with jumbo grips in there.
Very true and don’t even think about getting a bag with the individual tubes because even the medium jumbomax won’t fit much less a large
Cart bag, brother.
Get two small bags
This is very helpful! I am new to golf and wanting to get new clubs and grips! I have been thinking about getting larger grips. Thanks again!
Nice comparison. I am a club fitter in Switzerland and have bought in all the different JumboMax grips and I am doing some comparisons. First thing; they need a good few sessions to get used to them, just changing after a few shots doesn't really work. If you are a handsy player (less turn more hands) then these will be difficult. They make me turn more in the follow through, which is really good for me! I have the TourSeries in my driver which is very heavy and gives a counterbalanced effect and it works VERY nice! all irons I have the ZEN Lite, really nice grips and no need for a glove on allot of shots, especially the wedges. Definitely worth a try, especially if you tend to grip way to hard and tense up, like I did
Y'all did it again! My 2 favorite golf channels together again. Great team up guys.
Great content for people to see. Personally I switched from standard to jumbo in my driver and incredible results followed. I have bigger hands and I was hitting the ball so much more consistently. Much more comfortable grip wise in my hands.
I just got fitted for a new driver w/ jumbo max grips. I have a tendency to close the clubface too much. Works really well for me
Interesting discussion guys! I have been losing distance for over 25 years even though golf club technology has very likely kept me in the game at age 75. I did upgrade to a larger grip (mid-size with extra wraps of tape) and it has helped with both direction and distance so says my launch monitor and my Arcoss ap. Change is not without consequences but my grip change was mostly positive and inexpensive.
Excellent! I went to larger grips (Jumbo Max X Small) because I have hand and finger arthritis. I needed to change my grip from interlocking to more of a ten-finger grip. This helped, better accuracy.
So I changed from a standard grip to mid-size only on my irons and just had my best game ever. Shot a 76...par course was 72. My irons had so much more control going a size up. Unbelievable... great content!
Go jumbo and then report back. You'll drop another 4 shots
I switched to the jumbo grips a few years ago and will never go back. First thing I noticed was the grip pressure. I had a tendency to strangle the standard grips. I just assumed coming from baseball that the jumbo grip felt more natural
These are the best collabs in you tube golf!! Keep it up guys!
I've tested everything jumbomax from XS to XL, I've got probably the biggest paws you've ever seen but I settled on Tour Small, bigger than that I had a hard time hinging wrists.
The only thoughts you need with jumbomax grips are swing and rotate hard. They will naturally fix or expose a lot of swing faults.
I had my hand crushed and wrist broken, years ago. The jumbomax ultralight large grips made golf so much more enjoyable for me
As for bigger grip, it reminds me of my high school wooden bats we used and the one I loved was a big, fat handled bat. You never got the sting in your hands on inside pitches with that bat. As a taller/larger person I go with larger grips today but not too large.
Great video Matt super helpful on the JumboMax grips
Can you guys provide the details about the compressor used to change grips. Seems much easier and better than breaking out my large compressor. Thanks!
I switched to jmx xs this past summer after seeing them on my buddy's clubs. He played college hockey, very athletic but handsy. For me the switch was easy because my background is in division I baseball, also tennis and hockey growing up.
I have the same length hand size. I use the XS Jumbomax in the Tour series. I tried the ultralight but found that the heavier tour series improved my clubhead speed and dispersion.
Great Collab. Depending on the day, I can miss shots left, or right. ( RH golfer) I like the idea of helping eliminate the miss to one side.
My first ever set of matched clubs were Wilson Sam Snead Blue Ridge Woods & irons and they had the skinniest grips I have ever used and tbh I think the grips compensated for the flat lie as I hit them straight! The driver was also one of the heaviest and, for a steel shaft, the whippiest I have used!
I have been watching both of you guys for quite a while; being together makes for great videos!
He just built be a beautiful set of takomo irons. N I had him build up the lower part of the grip. With 4 layers of tape. Absolutely a gane changer. Feels awesome. 😊
You REALLY REALLY need to do a test on the short game with Jumbomax.
I was struggling around the green, from my first chips, I very rarely chunk or skull anymore. I can concentrate on the distance now, not the technique.
As far as distance, no change
Was that the Ultralite JMX or Counter weighted grips? I don't think you specified.
I ordered a full set of Ping 430’s with the midsize grip, like them a lot better than the standard grip, I’d never go back.
I switched this year to JumboMax Tour Series XS on my D, 3W, 7W and like the very light swing weight that results from a counterbalanced feel and picked up a 5-10 yards and reduced a frequent slice to an infrequent fade at worst. I went with the JumboMax JMX Ultralight XS on my hybrids, irons and wedges to maintain a more traditional swing weight. Picked up about 10 yards on those while maintaining my gapping and kept my normal straight ball flight. Arthritic hands don’t hurt at all after a round and even feel comfortable when I “forget” to put my glove on. I can’t see going back to standard grips. I did also test most of the various series and sizes of JumboMax, GolfPride MCC+4 Jumbo, Winn LT Oversize, Superstroke Jumbo. My hands, wrists, and forearms are much more relaxed.
Thanks for your post man, I just picked up some mcc plus 4 in Jumbo, how do you compare them to the smallest jumboMax ultralight XS you have ? I have same size hands as MSG
@@JDDD33 I should have mentioned that I wear an Med-Large glove but almost always shows in measurements/package that I should wear a medium glove. The MCC+4 Jumbo was my second pick and is a great grip. It is slightly smaller than the JumboMax XS (about the difference from a MCC+4 Midsize and Jumbo). The JumboMax Tour and Ultralight have a slightly more cushioned feel to me while still being a firm grip. The Winn LT Oversize (my third pick) was soft and cushioning. The MCC+4 is simply firmer but still a great feel for me. The MCC+4 probably has more grip in wet conditions but I don’t play in rain if I can help it. I would have gone with the JumboMax ZenLite if I played in wet conditions (but I really detest the green print on the grip). I think both the JumboMax and Golf Pride will have similar durability but I have used MCC+4 in standard previously and know they wear really well. I don’t see any wear or change from new on my JumboMax grips so far this year.
@DougShields-uu2ip thanks for your reply amd great info
I switched to jumbo Karma 360 grips which cost less than $3 each and they are the best grips for the money in my opinion.
I'm playing the Jumbo Max Zen XL grips. As a pro who has had a left miss all my life, these things are a godsend.
I switched to JumboMax this year and will never give them up. Less hand discomfort and better shot dispersion.
I have arthritis as I am getting older and the jumbo grips really help. I don’t push anything and works well for me
excellent collab, would definitely like to see iron distance and dispersion even if it's just 7 irons.
As an older mid-handicap player, I struggle to balance the comfort of larger grips and the tendency to slice. I currently play midsized grips and still have a fade as my stock shape; I'd love to go larger because my hands still ache after i play, but OB right looms large in my mind!
If you went with the bigger grip, what did it do to the swing weight of the club? I have to think it lowered it significantly.
They make jumbo grips that weigh the same as a standard grips
I switched to jumbomax ultralites recently and I will not go back. I went with the Mediums and love how my hands do not hurt. I was getting pain in my left palm and now it is gone. It definitely took a session or 2 at the range to get used to, but once I got the feel of them, I love them.
I definitely want to try the other jumbogrip line. Definitely seems foreign for most, but once you try jumbo then switch back to your old grips it feels weird! haha
MSG - like you, I tried GP standard, mid, jumbo and then jumbomax ultralites in xs, s, m, l. I found that I didn’t have noticeable improvement in flight, feel or grip until I got to the medium size jumbomax. The other smaller ones were too close to a standard grip, in the fact that I was still forced to grip it essentially the same. Yeah the grip size was larger, but once I got to the medium size it forced me to grip the club differently, because it was impossible to interlock with consistent strikes. The 10 finger grip felt comfortable once I got to the medium size. The large and XL were just too big and funny looking. Also, I’m not sure my carry bag would handle 13 clubs fitted w jumbomax medium grips lol
Tried Jumbomax small on the driver, and then regripped all my clubs. I was a slicer, my hand was way ahead of my club head due to extremely high grip pressure. The large grip helps me to reduce the grip pressure and turn the slice to baby fade. For wedges, I don't wear gloves anymore with a large grip. However, fitting all 14 clubs into a stand bag is a struggle. This year I turn to std-jumbo to comprise my stand bag. May be looking for a full-length divider bag in the future.
Great video! Looking to get jumbo grips myself
Totally enjoy watching the videos where you guys team up... Good stuff here... Funny how the latest the bro the more you need to turn it over hard.
Would've been cool to see what Plus4 grips do to the numbers
Matt, afternoon you crack me up. I have arther in my left wrist. But I'm not ready for big grip trade off. Maybe a few months from now. Thanks for making me laugh.
Swapped to the jumbomax XS from standard grips because my miss was hard left or blocked right. Ive completely eliminated my left miss and the whole left side. I can play my little draw without ever worrying about turning it over too much
Do the test again when arthritis is wrecking your grip strength. If a grip is too small, its nearly impossible to hang on to the club. I wear a large glove and found the midsize with 3 wraps works well.
I need to know what that pump is. That beats pulling out my compressor every time!
I've got a nagging left thumb arthritis as a young lad. Too many football injuries. I wonder if larger grips would help alleviate some of my left thumb pain and aching during a round. I really have to avoid the overlap grip because of this. I also tend to hook the ball. Good content.
Love ur videos and personality,,Sorry to be off topic,,,,,but I'm leaning on buying a used driver at a good price, but it 48",and it's senior flex & I'm 5'5",, can I have it cut a full 5"?,,, please reply with ur thoughts ty,
For anyone that uses Jumbomax, after switching did you find yourself scooping the ball and loosing distance? I put them on my entire set and loved them on my wedges but really struggled with my longer irons.
Surprisingly no for me on scooping the ball. I gained distance since I can finally unload. I would grip the club too tight because I would tense up and going to jumbomax I am getting the best contact in a while
Not scooping but I had the same experience. Loved them on the driver and wedges but mid irons were horrible. Maybe I should've given it more time but it just wasn't working for me.
@@canyonaro I think it just needed some time since I hit a couple range sessions and I’m hitting my long irons really well now
You can take a slightly stronger grip when you hang it out right, your left hand can go more on top
John Daly recommended that you should get fitted for your grips, instead of buying new clubs. Going to a midsize grip or jumbo grip soon. Would you happen to have any suggestions on the best grips to buy?
Take a note... would be interested if on the irons it changes AOA and other metrics other than face to path.
Try the ultralite. I think those tour series are heavier. I have the ultralite XL's because they relax my grip and I have a right wrist complete fusion so it helps with pain
Normal grip caused MASSIVE pain on driver. I wear XL or XXL gloves. After research, I got Jumbomax Ultralite XL (Bryson) on my driver and ZERO pain and I've golfed 20 times since July 1st. But yes, it did add a slice but I've kinda figured that out and I've hit 280-325 several times in last 3 outings vs 220-240 average.
Is it the JMX Ultralite or the Tour series?
I have big time problems with all my shots goes left. So I will test these again. I had JMX Ultralite before. But had hard time to adjust to them and changed back. But they helped my iron game and I had less shots that went left. Had an easier time to fade the shots with bigger grips.
I have had the Jumbomax Str8 ultralite on all clubs and really liked them. Swapped back to traditional grip and wish i wouldnt have. I am starting to order the Jumbomax Zen Lites now. I have one on a driver now and like the feel. It feels similar to the GP Tour Velvet grips just way bigger. Mr. Shortgame, i have the same size hand as you and used and will be using the medium size.
Love my medium size ultralite, they fit me for smalls on the app, but I felt the mediums in person and they felt just right!
The zen lites by far are the best ones... weight isn't insane and they are the tackiest.. ultra lights wear fast and are slick in my opinion... plus they are really soft so you can squeeze them easier. Zen lites are the winner for me!
@@Kylez1212 I’ll give these a try next time! Thanks
What is name of air compressor. Cheers great video
I found that I have to hold it more in my palm. I love the jumbo max large.
Good video, but you should try and team up with John from Jumbomax. He would give you a full in depth fitting with all of their grips from ultra lite to the tour series and then the str8 tech. Like another comment said, you need some time to get used to them. Switching like this in the video is not giving the best representation. If you go up in size you will more than likely naturally start turning the club over like you would with any other grip. You just need that time to get used to them. Fantastic company with fantastic grips for everyone!
I have right hand wrist pain...Matt, what kind of wrist issue are you dealing with, and do these help relieve the strain on your wrist?
Broken bone
How about trying the jumbo huge grip with a one less flex shaft.
Great content and I believe 99% use 2 thin grips. I'm now gaming the JumboMax Ultralite for 1,5 year and my natural draw is back. Will never go back smal. Have a tennis background and thinker grips in golf will be the next evolution. Golf is mostly 30 years behind on principles I found. 😅🤔🥲😃🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
What is the name of the compressor you’re using? Is the a specific attachment for grips?
I forgot I had a jumbo Max grip in my garage just put it on my driver it's the extra large size it is quite a bit bigger than my mid-size grip and honestly at my house before I went to the range I did not like the feel felt good in the hand but a little awkward when I swung. However after about 30 balls getting used to the new grip I'm hitting the straightest drives with my qi 10 that I ever have, slight butter fade my jaw is literally on the floor, great video but seriously you may want to give it a shot give yourself a little time to adjust the field you just might love it like I do
Larger grips help with hand pain from arthritis for senior golfers
Please try to strengthen your grip position as you go bigger on the grip. I know you know this but having trouble closing the face, strengthen your grip a little 🤷♂️
Would love to do this
Wait. What?? These JumboMax grips are BUILT to put on with air. I have STR8 Ultralites and Tour grips with an air compressor. Easy off but some effort to work it on though but I use a "mesh medical bandage" tape underneath to stop the slip if the butt end of the shaft is less than idea. Masking tape works as well. By the way GREAT VIDEO, love the topic 🤙
I think you guys are missing a big part of the test and that’s the weight of the grips…I’ve done similar tests and when you get different sizes of similar weight, you may get different results…I won’t bias your results with what I found doing this…Also, I did mine over a full session over weeks…so, I’d put a certain size on and use it in the sim for a week, then switch, etc…takes a lot longer, but I think a big part is getting used to the grip, AND, adjusting your driver to the grip to optimize the results with each grip size…just switching grips alone doesn’t get us much good data overall, just anecdotal…I now go between a few sizes throughout the season on my clubs just to keep the sensitivity in the hands…makes me focus on my grip better…
So it's the same principle as jumbo shrimp?
Is it the camera angle or are your shoulders open? Your right arm looks well above your left arm. BTW you would demolish me in golf 😅 cheers just an observation
Where is Elite Fit Golf located?
Decatur, GA
103 clubhead to 290 total is efficient
Larger grips should mean you need to get the body moving more correct? Not flipping the hands over more?
Why did you not try medium?
Did you skip over the midsize before going to JumboMax?
how did he switch the grips so fast
He blows them on & off with an air compressor.
Can they make a grip that stops you going right please 🤷🏻♂️
Not first
“This things huge, look at that!”
That’s what she said🤣💀
First
Now do not go into your local shop asking for them to be air compressed on... I will tell you no! Also note if you want grips the same day learn to do it yourself... Expecting your shop to do it while you wait without a tip is pretty pompous at best! also... Trust me the minimum wage dude does not care how much you paid for the service or the grip they still get min wage... Realize that!!!!
Just because a tour pro gets special treatment do not expect the same.... the advent of youtube make customers stupid and entitled... We have no issues telling you no if you were wondering! Your not a Tour Pro BTW... Had to be said...
Nobody was wondering about any of your b.s. rant lmao. Realize that!!!!!!!!
