    Mine has branches that droop over. They don’t stand upright like yours. Suggestions?

    • @mindtheleaves9914
      @mindtheleaves9914  3 года назад +4

      That's really normal when they grow indoors. The light source is usually not right above them so they tend to droop as their leaves move to the window. Older leaves also just droop over time when new leaves are formed, pushing the older leaves out of the way. There is nothing wrong with it, but if you want them to be more upright, try propping the leaves up with with twine or other supports. You can also put a grow light right about the plant to encourage it to grow upwards. I also rotate mine often, especially while the leaves are growing to try to get them to stay as upright as possible. 🙂

      Yes, most nurseries still use that name because it's one of the most commonly used and well known names. Even though it was reclassified years ago, I don't expect nurseries to change the name they are using, because that would only confuse their customers. 💚

      Hi! I would be happy to help! It's hard for me to know why your plant is turning yellow without knowing more about the plant. Like, what type of light it gets, watering schedule, fertilizer, have you checked for pests.? We can talk on the comments here, or if you prefer, we can talk on Instagram @mind_the_leaves so you can send a pic.

    Hi Sam, I have one of these in my backyard. I want to propagate one for inside. I am not sure where to make my cutting. Can you help?

    • @mindtheleaves9914
      @mindtheleaves9914  3 года назад

      Hi Tiffany! If you are propagating by pups, you should cut as close to the mother as possible. Use a sharp knife. The mother plant can take more abuse than the little pup. Just get right in between them and cut the pup off. If you are going via stem cuttings, just make sure you have at least one node on there, preferably more and then stick the stem cuttings in water or soil.

    I received a small one of these as a gift. It only had two leaves and a third one started growing. The biggest leaf started turning yellow and droopy so I cut it off. A few weeks later the second leaf did the same. The new leaf unfurled but it’s so small. I’ve also noticed the root bulb hasn’t sprouted any roots. Any suggestions to help? 😢

      You can always repot your plant and cut away any parts that you think might be dead before you place it in its new pot.

    • @mindtheleaves9914

      No, unless you live in zone 9 or warmer. I live in zone 5 so there is no way this guy would survive the winter. You can always put it outside and then bring it in for the winter though.

    Mine looks like yours and I'm concerned about the yellowing leaves. Does it need more light? Too much water? Why is it yellowing? :(

    • @mindtheleaves9914
      @mindtheleaves9914  3 года назад +1

      With yellowing leaves it's likely not enough sunlight or it could need fertilizer. How much light does your plant get? When was the last time you gave it some fertilizer? I also have a video about the mistakes I have made with this plant and how I fixed them, it might be helpful. 💚

    Hi, my plant leaves show similar yellowish color. Is this normal?

    • @mindtheleaves9914
      @mindtheleaves9914  3 года назад

      Hi! Thaumatophyllums should ideally have very dark deep green leaves. As I discuss in my other video about this plant, mine was showing signs of clorosis, which is basically yellowing due to an iron deficiency. But leaves can yellow for other reasons, like lack of sunlight, pests, ect... 🙂

    • @mindtheleaves9914
      @mindtheleaves9914  3 года назад +2

      Not just a leaf alone, it would need at least a piece of the stem with a node on it in order to propagate. 🙂🌿
