I think this POD video is where I need to be heading, your video was very clear and makes sense to me going into my new online store venture blindfolded, thanks for creating this video!
Brilliant. Liked and subbed. Shopify will now be my longer term goal. 100% agreed with getting shut down for no apparent reason, I've heard several stories of this. Yes, an advert video would be fantastic.
I love this, Thank you, I am going to check out your course for dummies. haha. thats me. LOL, I've been working on a Brand for Yoga Apparel (Printful) for 6 months, and Im ready to take it to the next level. This will motivate me to get r done...
I agree with what he said and ultimately it boils down to how serious you are about having a POD store with your designs and having enough start up funds to pay for a shopify store, marketing and a domain.
Make sense overall. Just one small detail. You don't own your store on Shopify either. They can also easily suspend your account (yes, chances are significantly lower compared to Amazon or Etsy). And you can't make a backup of your store to restore it on other platform. You can only do this with an open-source CMS, like WordPress, where you have full control over HTML, CSS, JS, PHP. But it's more painful to launch your store on WP if you're a complete newcomer. But with WP you can also do more in terms of SEO and Digital Marketing overall.
You’re technically right, but the point is kind of silly to make to be honest. People getting banned on Shopify has never been an issue and shouldn’t really be something that’s even considered when choosing where to sell pod items, your comment implies that it is.
@@RealJoeRobert I'm just too long in this business, since 2006. And have seen popular CMS/platforms/technologies coming and going. And people relied on them spending multiple resources to restore/migrate their businesses or loosing everything. And it's not just about account suspension. New technology/platform can come to the market, and platform like Shopify can die really fast. Easily. With all your investments. That's something nobody warn newcomers about :) You're only save (relatively) having a full control over your website. For me, open-source or self-written engines based on popular frameworks has no alternatives in this sense. But of course people are making their own choice :)
Iv watched countless videos on POD and have to say you make fantastic sense. Now I’m off to look at your POD video to start my journey. I will let you know how it goes, wish me luck as never done anything like this before 🙈
$1 Ad. I have struggled a lot with Facebook and Instagram marketing, especially ads. The last time I used FB ads, I got some sales, but ad cost totally ate up the profit. So, I'm interested in seeing what I can learn from you.
Fantastic video, and I agree with the principles outlined. I would however disagree with some of your assessments related to Amazon Merch. Specifically, I have been very successful targeting high competition niches (such as sarcasm, cats, etc) because I know how to use Amazon Ads effectively. Also, you technically don't need to spend time every day to stay relevant. Even uploading once every week or two (once you have a decent base of designs) is fine - it's really more a function of how fast you want to grow. The main issue with Merch is (as Joe points out) you don't control the platform and they can shut you down whenever they want. You also don't own any customer info or a business you can sell. Again, great vid all in.
I'd like the $1 ad videos. Is that something you'd put on your other channel? Also, I'd love to see a comparison video of metal sign providers. I have watched your videos about the signs, but I don't know how many suppliers make them. I prefer Shopify to having a platform shut me down. I'd lose my mind, so I'd want control over that aspect!
Thanks for insight the main reason for doint the marketplace for me is lack of revanue to pay the fulfiment fees of Printful or Printify. Do you know if Shopify has an internal POD or Dropship tshirt app that takes the fulfilment directly from the sales > Thanks
If you don’t have money to fulfill an order just wait 48 hours for the funds to transfer to you and then fulfill it. Do that for the first 5 orders and then you’ll have some cash to use for future ones
Thank you sir!! You are really helpfull, i been selling on etsy since 2020, But I am tired of the competition, So i am also thinking about the Creating own website!!
My problems I need to change my Shopify shop from the low preforming Etsy niche to a new niche/product line..it's connected to meta so I need to change that too for my ads meanwhile the pixel for my shop never worked with my ads. I fear much trouble.
Possibly. I'm not sure honestly if that would really fit with my channel/if that would be something I feel I could make a good video about since the way I have sold stores is through the Shopify Store Exchange which they shut down in 2022
what sours me a bit is each attempt to study which states or municipalities collect how much tax and remitting it etc. I agree with everything you’re saying, there’s just these pesky details that as a busy person, lean me towards letting etsy do it. I get it…it’s all just a fee for designing and we make them a lot of money. Is there anyway to simplify the tax collecting and remittance on our own, without an expensive service that we may not feel ready to purchase to assist.
@@BethMurphyLife Oh, the commenter above was using Etsy, Etsy is like Amazon. The commenter was mentioning that Etsy lets you have the option of doing taxes by yourself or we can let Etsy collect the taxes themselves for government purposes. The person in the video was using Shopify to sell his items, which should have that tax feature also but you can research first, or better yet email Shopify to double check. Ask them if they can collect taxes automatically like Etsy, so you can just pay the government whatever is owed.
The biggest issue for me with not using esty or Amazon is having to pay upfront for items to be sent to customers and dealing with possible returns how do you navigate those issues
Actually what he meant was to link Printify (print on demand) to a Shopify store, then have a percentage of commission paid to social media influencers that you have contacted and agree to promote your products for a 25% commissions of the sales they have brought in through their viewers (btw, I saw this info from his other video) also I don’t how he manages the commissions, like how do we know who brought in what customer and what did that customer buy, that translates to sales and commission owed to influencers (was it through Instagram/Shopify?). Another way is to run $1 ad on a social media platform, and see how it goes. You need to check out his free courses in the link of his video description.
The only problem with doing it the Shopify way is you have to pay upfront for the merchandise before the customer gets it and those costs are what most people who are wanting a side hustle are trying to avoid when starting this business...
@@TravTexasBoys also a couple things to add, I always say, even if it makes me unpopular that if you have zero dollars, you should not be starting a side hustle you should try to focus on generating some sort of a income from a full-time job. With that said if you think it through, let’s just say that your first few orders, you waited the two days it takes for the funds to transfer to you to actually pay for your orders that would not be the end of the world. From there a few sales would have some income from those sales to use to process any future orders not really a big deal when you break it down like that.
@@RealJoeRobertmy question I can’t seem to find any answer for is, if we have our own independent website, that’s not through Shopify, and my customers click the link in my social media bios to order, then will we receive the funds to fulfill their orders on printify immediately? I’m a content creator on TikTok and I’ll be going live to sell my POD products and will be creating my own ads and using other influencers I have relationships with to market. And since I don’t have the funds to fulfill orders until I receive funds from sales I thought this method could work. What do you think or know about this? Thank you for your time in advance!
I’d go a step further and create my own website plus shop. Connecting to POD-Services is not that difficult if you are not scared to learn their APIs. Higher learning curve but one does save a lot of fees in the long run.
@@RealJoeRobert Providers without an API are - by design - not available on Shopify either, since they exchange data that way. I’m a web developer so I might have a different perspective on the whole thing too.
This video your commenting on is one that I made where I was talking about how I prefer to sell on Shopify rather than selling on it print on demand platform like red bubble or Etsy
Thanks for watching! In a way, that’s true - but if you’re trying to figure out what “works” and you’re selling in a competitive niche, or having trouble with search seo, then you may not get the results you’re looking for even if you have created great things. That’s what I was trying to say in the video, there are lots of “ways to see what works” without using a platform
None of this is easy lol I’ve been demonstrating here on my channel how I’ve gotten thousands of visitors and made my first $6k in sales so far in about 5 weeks with a new store, without a following. It is two strategies, you either put time into hundreds of designs and Etsy/Amazon seo to be found Or you make a handful of designs and spend time on social media getting traffic, and long term with the same effort as selling on Etsy or Amazon you’ll have an asset (your brand)
Facebook has very clear policies though if you don’t violate something you won’t be randomely deactivated. Etsy is the only place I’ve been seeing random deactivations
Very true, it's high time now, people should stop relying on these platforms to make "any" money. Your all efforts would go in trash when they shut your shop! Shopify is the way to go ahead from here! ✅
I’m not sure. I’ve always said if you have $0 you probably shouldn’t start a business :/ that might make me unpopular because everyone else says you can get rich for free
I don't mean to sound critical, but in the entire video, there is no mention of "who" actually physically prints the merchandise. It's 13 minutes of explaining how "not" to go the Amazon Merch route, or even the Etzy route, and confusingly enough, hints of not going the "Printify" route, but aside from the focus of just opening up a Shopify storefront, there was no mention of "who" actually PRINTS the merch, once an order is made on the Shopify platform. If you're not using Printful to print merch, and not using Printify, then once a customer orders a shirt off your Shopify store, WHO actually PRINTS it? 13 minute video, and the title of the video on "don't sell using Printful" you explain no actual alternates to printing. Just keeping it real.
$1 ads! Another reason to not sell on marketplaces is your advertising to your competitors/copycats, your original designs won’t stay original for long, not even Taylor Swift or Disney are immune to it!
