  • In this fourth episode we cross the River Tyne (Literally) into South Tyneside and examine the history and importance of South Shields. It was the home of another ancient Celtic Tribe before being occupied by the Romans who built a significant fort here. Pretty much every major event in English History had a connection with South Shields. A host of famous people past and present are connected with the town, learn about them and enjoy an extended aeriel display of filming.

    Interesting, now I know why my gran (who was originally from Newcastle) would always say “it’s the bairns!” when seeing me and my sister!

      Ha Ha there was more likelihood of me taking off in the wind that was near cutting me in two !!!!
      Yeh those brigantes occupied most of the west and down into what is now Wales. A pretty wild bunch by all accounts it seems.

    Great video pal. Took grand bairn through few weeks ago to fairground. Shopping centre looks like many towns and villages in North east. Fast food and charity shops. Shame
