You two arguing about the eternal plot-hole of "How is Michael driving so well?" is the best part of this whole reaction 😂 It's oddly wholesome 🥰
Aww thank you so much!
+
‘Halloween’ teaches us that that if you don’t live with a well adjusted joint family, bad things happen.
That’s not a bad lesson
According to Debra Hill and John Carpenter the reason Laurie lives is not because she is a virgin but it’s because she’s the only one paying attention everything going on around her. Everyone else is distracted. They both even complained that films like Friday the 13th and the other rip offs took the wrong lessons from this film.
Fun Fact: Billy Loomis is a reference to Dr Loomis who himself is a reference to Sam Loomis from the movie Psycho, the same one Billy references before he shoots Randy, "We all go a little mad sometimes" (this line even being said by Sam Loomis, so Loomis is quoting Loomis lol). Also one more fun fact, Jaymie Lee Curtis' mother, Janet Lee, was one of the main characters in the orignal Pyscho (the lady in the iconic shower scene).
Whoa. I didn’t know that
But Norman was the one who said "We all go a little mad sometimes." It's when he's in the parlor with Marion and he's defending his mother's behavior. Billy even said in Scream that he was quoting Norman Bates...
@@misscryptoria you're so right i have no idea why I mixed those two up
Rizzo: this account is serious and we’re not gonna talk too much
*rizzo and benji argue about Michael’s ability to drive for a quarter of the video*
I’m SOOOO SORRY 😭🙈
There are a couple of theories on how Michael learned to drive...
1. The novelization of the movie explains that he learned from watching Dr. Loomis drive him back and forth to court hearings.
2. I can't tell you the second theory until you've watched more of the franchise, because spoilers. But it's a good theory and it makes the most sense.
Honestly that first theory is solid! Thank you so much
@@popcastbutscary you're very welcome, and I'm LOVING the new channel! It's so serious!
Love the fact that Rizzo is so concerned about Micheal’s driving experience 😂
HOW DOES HE KNOW!?
@@popcastbutscary I'm almost 30 with a license and idk what the hell I'm doing half the time
@@popcastbutscaryWhile it seems far-fetched that he would just "know" how to drive, there are multiple vids of news stories of young kids (usually boys) younger than Michael, who took their parents vehicles without permission to go get food, candy, or just for fun.
Fortunately, most won't grow-up to become serial killers! We hope!! 🔪🎃
Did they still have gas station attendants in the 70's? he might not have even pumped his own gas, he just had to be able to restraint himself from murdering the attendant lol
I find it really scary that you managed to use "of" instead of "have/'ve" in the middle of a sentence and not anywhere near a "could", "should", or "might".
@@michaelklaus I mean thanks for telling me about my grammar mistake, but at the same time it's a youtube comment, not a paper I'm being graded on so I wasn't really paying attention to my grammar while I was writing it.
@@michaelklausI find it really scary that you're so insecure about your intelligence that you think grammar checking people online makes you look smart, or something. Much better to get your intelligence invested in common sense, and empathy.
@@Ashely56 oh it's debeatable whether this is a grammar mistake or a word choice/language mistake; there is obviously no reason to point out simple grammar, spelling, or punctuation mistakes in youtube comments
to be (even more nitpicking but) precise: the "could of", "would of", "should of" are all stemming from writing by hearing for a certain US american dialect in which "could've", "should've", "would've" are oddly pronounced with the contraction of "have" sounding homophone to "of"
in and of itself it is understandable; so what is weird is that you are in good comany and a growing number of people on the internet (many of which do not speak that particular dialect) are using "of" in the place of the auxiliary "have" in other contexts.. and somtimes even when "have" is the predicate of the sentence... which makes it hard to quickly grasp the meaning of a sentence for many other people, moreso for non-native speakers (like me), and especially for people with certain impairments
and that is why this is not simply a grammar mistake but a word choice mistake
hope this helps shining a better light on my comment and why I think using the "correct" or rather "used by the majority" "have/'ve" in the appripriate contexts would help you to bring your messages across to your recipients
@@michaelklaus ohhh I never knew that thanks for educating me!
"Annie are you doing well? Annie are you fine?"
🤣🤣🤣
I see what you did there Benji. You're a smooth criminal 😉
They made this over 30 days in Pasadena CA for $350,000, most of which was Donald Pleasance’s salary. Michael is director Nick Castle, who agreed to do it because he needed rent money.
And Robert englund (Freddy Krueger) worked on set for one day throwing dead leaves to make it look like autumn. Lol
@@staceywhelan3413 i think they had like one bag of dead leaves that they had to throw, gather and re use throughout the whole movie. and then you look up, and all the trees are just ... fully green lol😅
It’s so impressive! Love the film history
I know for a fact that Benji and I wouldn’t survive an American horror movie ALTHOUGH we could be the Final Gays.
Final Gays is a great title
I really love that y'all made a separate channel for scary movies ❤ the year round spooky vibes are much appreciated 😈
Love year round spooks
Yesssss🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Fun fact. PJ Soles who played Lynda tells the story of her going to see this at the theater when it was first released and the scene where she says “see anything you like” a guy sitting in front of her at the moment yelled out “HOT DAMN YOU BET YOUR ASS I DO.”
I seriously never realized him saying Lindsey, that is so disturbing! My brain thought they meant Annie the babysitter but apparently, my brain was mixing up the names/ not paying attention enough.
This was so much fun. You guys should watch "You're Next"! Not exactly a classic, but DEEPLY satisfying.
You're next is such a good film
"You're Next" and "Ready or Not" really feel like companion pieces imo, both are amazing and incredibly satisfying.
They really do compliment each other well
Agreed!
@@PixieLovesItAlli love "ready or not" sm
The whole car argument had me dying laughing 😂
So sorry we talked over everything haha
It was hilarious 😂
18:01 y’all jumping at the glass breaking was beautiful
Such a good jump scare
Rizzo's beef with Michael driving was hilarious.
I don’t know WHY we beefed lol
y’all are right about Sally not giving a second thought about LAUNCHING herself through a window, no matter what floor it was on 😂
as a horror fan myself, I'm loving this second channel, thank you so much for this guys ❤
Thank YOU for supporting us
"Try breathing through your nose"
I lost it 😂
Since the holidays are coming up, Black Christmas (1974) would be a great film to watch next month. It was the cult classic that somewhat inspired Halloween! It's eerie and holds up very well IMO. The 2006 remake is also pretty fun and Mean Girls-esque.
Laurie tells the kids to go to the Mckenzie's house to call the police. In the beginning of Scream that's what Drew Barrymore's dad tells her mom to do.
Oh shit you’re right!!!
19:53 is Micheal was the evil version of the home alone kid
Hahaha Kevin McKILLaster
Not that cop saying "this street is full of families" as if Michael did not come from a family x'] Love that you expanded with this channel, it's great!!
13:38 funny you say that Benji because there's a new movie out from the POV of the killer called In a Violent Nature which is basically just the killer walking around for long periods of time and killing teens lol
For December, I’d def recommend y’all check out the original Black Christmas (1974). Great spooky movie for the holiday season!
That’s actually what we’re leaning towards! Thanks for confirming
@@popcastbutscary of course!!
I love how serious this channel is❤😂
SO SERIOUS 🥸
Fun fact: Lindsay was played by 9 year old Kyle Richards now known for Real Housewives
It’s so easy to drive I know kids on farms driving trucks at like 9-10 years old. Side by Sides at like 7. I don’t condone it BUT it is easy🤣
Yeah that makes sense hahaha
Laurie was 17 in this movie
😱😱😱
@@popcastbutscary but Jamie Lee Curtis was 19.
You guys should absolutely watch Black Christmas (1974) this December. It’s super underrated and was the main inspiration for this movie. This movie gets a lot of credit for stuff it took directly from Black Christmas. It’s one of the best horror movies ever made imo
OOh, go the Elvira route with the outro: "Unpleasant dreams popstars!
What an icon
I love you guys and I have a few recommendations for great horror reactions:
1. Hereditary
2. IT
3. The Mist
4. A Quiet Place
Love this list. Which It are you recommending?
Not it's the '70s, he may kill a dog, When he ate an entire dog a few scenes ago 😂😂😂. I love you guys
21:29 and 3rd. inspired Slience of the Lamb, that's the last one you're thinking about Benji
That’s so many movies inspired by that
The toddler voice that Rizzo makes reminds me of Deandra from The Most Popular Girls In School 😂😂😂
Wait is that a movie/show???
@@popcastbutscary it’s a show on RUclips
Y'all are fun, subscribed within ten minutes lol. Well played sirs
I think one thing about the car plot hole nobodies mentioned in back then the car would have been a manual. There is NO WAY he knew how to drive that
Grew up in Southern California in the 70s/80s. Suburbs were a melting pot of everyone. Can't vouch for other parts of the world. But So Cal was every ethnicity mixed together in every block and neighborhood.
Ooh what neighborhood were you??? We current live in the Studio City area
ohh i love the editing!
I know we probably need to go back to this style on our main channel but I don’t wanna 🥲
I love the camaraderie and playfulness You do have for each other It's very cute
I'm so slow I just realized this was a completely different channel than the pink podcast. I'm subscribed to this one as well 😃😃😃
So excited to watch this reactionnnn!
I love your other channel. But this channel is a lot of fun.❤
This is my personal favorite too 🤫 - Rizzo
That kid analogy is so good. Like when i play lightsabers with my son, he expects me to fall to the floor when he pokes me but if i get him he refuses to play dead. Im like, oh i see how it is 😂
Hahahaha amazing! Kids are wild lik
You've inspired me with that idea: Michael Myers trying to figure out a car's gas tank.
1000%kids drove back then lol my mom used to take the car to the corner store at 8 to get her grandpa smokes 😅😅😅
honestly, best reaction to this movie 😄
Are you going to watch The Stuff or The Blob? Critters?
OMG YES! I especially want to watch The Blob!
7:37 the parents letting him drive as a kid is something that even happened with people I knew in the 90s and early 2000s being pretty dang young so seems likely. Also new people who drove four wheelers and go carts and stuff. It comes pretty naturally to some.
Even 6 years old and younger? Because that's how old they said he was.
@yerinbaekscandlelight yep. I dont approve, but yeah. I dont know anyone doing that now, but back then? Yeah
I literally had to pause to yell at Rizzo because as someone who just turned 28, she is NOT dressed like a 30 year old 😩 lmao shes giving 65 year old librarian AT LEAST 😂
Right? I’m 28-turning 29 this year and I certainty don’t look like that haha. Fashion can really age people.
31:16: the guys deliberately not saying “Annie, are you ok?”…that’s funny.
But if the song is still stuck in my mind an hour from now…it won’t be as funny. Lol.
I hope you guys will react to two other horror classics I really like, The Innocents(1961), Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte(1964).
You guys should react to final destination and sleepaway camp
Tbf, I forgot how to ride a bike (I did when I was a kid, moved, had no bike and tried to re learn for a couple of years but always kept falling) so I stand with Rizzo, Michael shouldn't know/remember how to drive 😂😂😂😂
Can I recommend korean horror movies like The Wailing , The Host and maybe Train to Busan (if you haven't seen it)?
Seen Train, can’t wait to watch The Host!
@@popcastbutscary woohoo \🥳/
If you're confused now, wait until you find out about the different timelines.
I can understand some of the things said but if you judge this based on the knowledge of what horror has become and not what is was back then then it would never stand up. What it turned into wasn't the result of this movie its what movies came after where those stereotypes of slasher films came from.
He was listening to the 24 hour Halloween theme song station. lol.
It would be cool if you guys dive into more John Carpenter movies (“The Prince of Darkness “, “The Fog”), and Clive Barker, and Stephen King movies.
Oh Rizzo! If you're looking for a film where no one dogs or kids are spared and really bad things happen I would recommend Funny Games. Original and Remake are very well done. It left me pissed but I can deny it's a challenging concept.
It was 15 years. Not 10 years. It was 1963 when Michael killed his sister. Ed Gein inspired Psycho as well.
I find rizzo so cute the fact that he is so emotional both when scared and sad and invested in the drama is so attractive! ( Yes I know Benji is as well but he is gay and I'm a woman so... I hope that makes sense that I high lighted rizzo) Benji you are so funny tho. I hope I'm not digging myself into a hole. Ah whatever just wanted to show my appreciation for the channel. Found you guys though you colab with pretty mush it hope to see another colab in the future (sorry if my English is off, it isn't my first language, xoxo)
Dr. Sam Loomis in this movie is named for Sam Loomis in _Psycho._ Billy Loomis in _Scream_ quotes _Psycho_ at one point.
You have some great ideas for Michael Myers skits, I have to say.
I googled it he was 6 when he killed his sister and its been 15 when he broke out of the mad house (for a lack of a better word)
So he's 21 in '78
ok so i was curious how Michael was able to get gas as well~ apparently full service gas stations (the old school ones that had someone come out and pump your gas for you) started going away in the 70s. i know when they stopped providing that service differs from state to state but that COULD be the reason he was able to get to where he was going and, if Michael ever rode in a car as a child he would have seen his parents fill up at a gas station at least once. as for payment, he could have just driven off cause i doubt he cares much about not breaking the law.
Recommendations:
BLACK CHRISTMAS (1974)
SLEEPAWAY CAMP
HELLRAISER
THE FOG (1980)
And of course
FRIDAY THE 13TH
A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET
just to name a few.
You guys have to watch terror train. Lol it’s another Jaime Lee Curtis movie.
U should check out the Rob Zombie version of Halloween and H2
Oof we will eventually get to those
Most people are not great at driving without having lessons.
Boobs vs Boy Butts needs to be a t-shirt. 😂
Hahahahaha 😭😭😭
I love how half of this video is debating about how Michael knows how to drive a car
They're in high school! 😂😂😂
Jamie Lee Curtis was 19. She is suppose to be 17. Michael is suppose to be 21. He killed his sister and was committed when he was 6 years old in 1963. This is 78 so 15 years later so 21. Although they state in wrong in the credits because they say it is 23.
Michael is basically a supernatural entity.
Well speaking of supernatural evil they kind of lean into that in the sixth movie
i NEED you guys to watch scream
36:55 Whose kitchen??!
Wait what do you mean???
So I'm not a fan of Michael but I do enjoy some of the films in the franchise! Mainly the ones where Michael gets his ass kicked 😂
Also! Horror trivia: Dr Loomis is named after Sam Loomis, the protag of Psycho!
I gotta add tho Im on Benjis side on the dog and kid thing. You dont have to kill dogs for it to be a horror film 😂 Jason doesnt kill any animals or children and hes still evil lol
Story I was told ( that makes sense to me ) is throw the years at the ward 6 year old Michael had been taken to court/ drs apts … so he watched an paid attention also was driven back to Haddonfield for the courts or dr so he could have paid attention, the rest of the movies more so then the first go into his darkness and him spending them 15 years looking out to this night when he could escape. Also if none of that connects the “ hows he able to drive “ then he’s just personification of evil and it’s a movie 🤷🏻♂️
That opening shot ( really this whole movie) was original cus it was the first time they use the steady cam and all the troops we take for granted knowing they didn’t see until this movie. It really the start of the kinda horror we watch still to this day
Last one, Lindsay is played by Paris Hilton aunt, one of them house wives … it’s cool cus she comes back in some of the recent movies with JLC
I would be interested to see your thoughts on the first of the new halloween trilogy, altho I personally didnt like the last two. Just the first. I totally get their direction for the last two but they were far too much for me. Loved your reaction as always!
I did see the 2nd remake but Benji hasn’t so we will eventually watch it! ☺️
Michael Myers…the original teleporter 😂😂😂
😂
hey guys I just discovered the channel, and I enjoyed the reaction. I have a recommendation for you guys. This is a horror gem called " The People Under the Stairs" its from 1991 and let me just say to this day the scariest film I've ever seen. it's got everything and that's all I'll say because I don't want to spoil anything. I strongly encourage checking it out. :)
Yeah you mentioned it, the funny thing about this movie is that the high school girls all look like they're at least in their 20s.
You should watch IT Chapter one and two
The Blair Witch project
Guys please react to the rest of the series and also scream series
I know it’s a little late for a Christmas movie but y’all should watch a horror movie called it’s a wonderful knife it’s like it’s a wonderful life but with a serial killer slay I e never seen it’s a wonderful life loved the commentary
They should watch the original Black Christmas from 1974 first.
@@darth_kal-el Yk I keep hearing that it’s good but I still haven’t watched it I feel like it’s not gonna live up
@@ZeeButters oh it holds up. That movie is still incredibly creepy.
@@darth_kal-el I’m gonna watch it right now I’ll be back
@@ZeeButters did you watch it?
Driving is the easiest thing in the world. I started when I was 10 on backcountry roads in Georgia. I get the feeling Josiah’s nervous ass is out here causing traffic!
😂😂 thank you! I grew up in Texas so I was driving early, his family is from LA he didn’t get to Texas as early but at least he slow down traffic
@@popcastbutscary Ooooh LA…got it. So he’s basically like Dionne in Clueless when she accidentally gets on the freeway. 😂
Maybe....he had driving lessons in prison as part of his re-habilitation?
I’ve never seen this movie, and I guess technically still haven’t because this doesn’t count, but how have I gone this long not knowing there was a little brunette girl named lindsey in it… my name is Lindsey, and once I was a little brunette girl. Still a brunette, but all growed up now lol
That's what makes Michael mysterious getting shot over and over and never dies if he was just a normal guy then what's the point
PLEASE Watch the conjuring movies ‼️‼️‼️
I also didn’t watch this movie until this year and found it so boring 😭 Friday the 13th and nightmare on elm st hold up much better I think
I also saw it for the first time this year & agree with you! It’s pretty boring…but maybe that’s bc I’m just used to more snappy thrillers/suspense movies 🤷🏾♀️ 😂 but yeah, the tension in this movie was building for soooo long
Can’t wait to watch Nightmare
Michael was 6 year's old when he killed his sister
This is a weird nitpick and a dark train of thought, but why wouldn’t Michael have killed his baby sister first? I feel like killers work up to big kills, so it’s weird to me that he wouldn’t go for the helpless baby before his older sister. The fear of Michael is that he’s just pure evil, for no explainable reason, a bad seed. But a bad seed would have warning signs.
He was 6 when he killed his sister
I watched it for the first time also this Halloween and I completely agree with you both, I appreciate it and I understand why it made such a great impact at that time but watching for the first time in 2023 with zero nostalgia for the film… yeah, it was not great, I can’t see myself rewatching this movie honestly.
Something that really annoyed me is that the men were killed quickly but he took forever killing the girls, both of them half naked and with a lot of moans, definitely an interesting choice by the director. but aha, the 70’s so I shouldn’t be surprised by that😂
Right!? But people will complain about dogs dying. Thanks for commenting
@popcastbutscary I complain about dogs and kids and people suffering in general. That's why I hate Michael Myers. I can't have fun with these films. Friday the 13th is fun cuz the kills are intense and scary but Dogs and Kids not being killed is breaking that annoying trope. Some of us just don't like it Rizzo 😂 it's not fun anymore when an innocent usually a child or an animal are killed for simply being there because of the idiotic main characters. There's plenty of horror films that are disturbing and scary and they don't have to go to the kill dogs kill cats and kill innocent for the hell of it. I have this same conversation with my mom all the time and she's on your side lol
@@filmfangirls9163 I don’t think that’s the point… like, it’s okay if you don’t like to see animals being hurt, you are not supposed to enjoy it, but it’s a little hypocritical when that’s the only reason to avoid a slasher and not that sometimes writers/directors aim almost to “torture porn” in scenes were women are killed. It’s horror after all I just mean if we think one is too much the other should be too, no?
@intshadow I know it comes off hypocritical and heck my mom agrees with Rizzo. But yeah I hate seeing women and men suffer too but that's not why I enjoy horror movies. I watch everything to experience it but I hate horror films that kill dogs and children for the simple fact of "these idiots dragged them here". I wanna see the bad guy get his ass kicked. I wanna see the protagonist kill the asshole. I wanna see them break type. Jason doesn't kill dogs. Freddy doesn't kill dogs. Hell Leatheface doesn't kill dogs! If there's a purpose where the death kicks off the plot, I get it. But just mindlessly killing them is stupid. The teens are doing dumb things in most of the horror films so they get killed for it. I don't enjoy it but at least it could have been avoided had they made the right choices.
I totally agree with your rant at the end about the “evil” being unbeatable. With that in mind you would absolutely hate the Terrifier movies bc Art is literally the embodiment of everything you hate: only puts the women through unimaginable torture, is basically unkillable, and acts like a fucking toddler. I’ve only seen reactions to them and it really is just torture porn and the props department trying to see how disgusting they can get.
So this is the opposite of a request lmao please don’t watch them, it won’t be a good time for either of you.
Lindsey is actually Kyle Richards. lol. The annoying one from real housewives of Beverly Hills lol
