your hamster is so cute!! i highly recommend Niteangel for houses/chamber hideouts to replace the cardboard box! i would also add more bedding for Doro - hamsters LOVE to burrow so its recommended to have at least 6 inches of bedding, but the more the better~ i can't wait to see more clips of Doro!
Cardboard boxes are actually great. They are cheap, DIY hides that anyone can get without breaking the bank. And hamsters don't even care how they look, they'll love them. The thing is, she needs to add more hides and clutter. But because the cage is too small, she doesn't have enough space to add all the basic recommendations. She needs first a bigger cage.
The minimum enclosure size for any hamster is 100*50*50cm. I hope you can upgrade soon ❤️ Btw your hamster is a roborovski hamster which is the smallest specie of hamster and the hardest to tame. I hope you give him a lot of patience. (and sand pleasee)
I can tell you really want what's best for you new hammie, unfortunately, this is not it. You said you watched Victoria's videos, but I think you watched her older ones. Standards have improved and she has updated a lot of her info, especially because of new scientific research on hamsters. There are several things that can be improved and should be improved in your cage, for his well-being. First, it's great you got a barless cage, but it is too small. Ethical minimum is 100x50x50 cm or 40"x20"x20" of unbroken floor space. Putting another cage or floor and connecting them with tubes does not count and has no benefit. Depth of bedding recommendations have also been updated. 8" is now the new ethical minimum, but most people are going to tell you to go as deep as you can. Try to aim for at least 10 or 12". Also, it's very important to leave hammie alone the first few days, but I'll trust you gauged his response to you and acted accordingly. And please, please throw away that hamster ball. That's just an accident waiting to happen. It's a complete big no. They don't enjoy them and they are dangerous. Please get a pet pen. Do some research on free roaming. I also recommend getting a shallower dish, like Niteangel's ones. But even a small candle holder could work. If you don't want to, put a rock in the one you have to prevent the hamster from spilling it. I recommend getting ride of the food dish, or better yet, let him use it as a hide. It's perfect as one. Just scatter their feed. It's important to provide enrichment. You also need a minimum of 3 hides, sprays, 3 different substrates, a big enough wheel (I think you have a good one) and a balance diet. As far as I know, there is just not a balance feed available in the market. There are some that are better but you'll still need to complement them to provide hammie with the correct nourishment. Remember, they are omnivores. Check hamsterwelfare.com or hamsterinfoireland.ie/care-guide/
@@f0lklores.fangirll but she has updated her care guide since she started RUclips and she literally has a large enclosure for her hamsters she may only talk about minimum requirements but she definitely gives her hamsters more than the bare minimum. She layers the bedding, has a whole large area of sand for the dwarf hamsters, has sprays, she mixes her own hamster food, she scatter feeds, she lets them free roam with supervision of course and barriers since she does have rabbits and cats. And she has plenty of hides, water bowl instead of bottle, she doesn’t wake them to clean or interact with them unless they have to go to the vet. But you are correct she only gives tips on the bare minimum I do agree on that. Is there a hamster channel that shows more than the bare minimum I would love to know as I’m an animal lover and want to be a pet sitter for all types of animals so this information is very useful for me.
he's so cute!! i would def recommend more hiding spaces and thicker bedding so he doesn't get stressed! good luck with the little cutie, having a pet is the best :)
Hamster ball is not safe for doro coz hamster can't see properly inside of it nd they choose to run in panic also there is lack of oxygen in hamster balls..so don't use it..
That's a roborovski hamster it's the fastest and smallest breed that hamster will be hard to pick up. I have a female roborovski I'm not sure if that one is a female or male for yours but cool.
I suggest adding way more bedding bc hammys LOVE to burrow like LOVE and it better if there is a very thick layer of bedding also having a thin layer of bedding may make the enclosure stink
aww he’s so adorable!! just a little tip, hamsters LOVE to forage so i’d really recommend getting some seed sprays for his enclosure :) he would probably love some tunnels, and multiple substrates to dig aswell, niteangel, bucatstate, etsy and getzoo are all really good places to buy from 💗
Your hammy is so cute! Unfortunately your hamster's enclosure is way too small... Hamsters needs at least 40" x 20" (100cm x 50cm) of floor space! Dwarf hammys also need the minimum required space. You said you watched Victoria Reachel, but you didn't follow her advices exactly... The bedding should be at least 10" (25cm) deep. :) The sandbath also needs to stand on stilts, thats very important! Doro just moved in, pls try to not rearrange so much in the enclosure, it's very stressful for the lil' one. The wheel looks fine :) Dwarf hamsters are very prone to get Diabetes! Doro's diet should be a healthy seed mix, with less fat and no sugar! Try to avoid wheat. You can also scatter feed him, so he needs to forage for his food. :) Also, pls don't let Doro "free roam" in an hamster balls... Hamster balls are very, very unsafe for our little friends. They get hurt in there so easily plus they have nearly no control about the hamster ball. You can build a little playpen for your hammy, with hideouts.
@@Thehamstermushroom Stilts are... Stilts? Like some wooden sticks which are supporting the multichamber hideout or other heavy items. So if the hammy is burrowing underneath the house or another heavy item like the sandbath these items dont sink in and brutaly crush the hamster.
just remeber i got my hamster 2 days ago just that leave them alone for 3 days to settle in and get used to its surroundings and just so it can learn your voice and your room and try not to move the things / toys around and houses as they will like their normal layout as they have been used to that and dont take all the bedding out of your hamsters cage as it has their scent on it so they know it is their house so put new bedding and some old bedding in as if you take all of it out its scent will go and it wont know that it is their home but your hamster is adorable! x
Oh my gosh..... So adorable! I think I had a hamster like yours. I believe they're a Russian Dwarf Hamster (at least that's what they told me at the store when I had mine). I had 2 of them though as they were brothers and they said they shouldn't be separated. So I called 1 Vladimir and the other 1 Dmitri! x) They were so cute . Loved them so much! Dmitri would always hold my finger when I'd pet him. It was too cute. Gah... Seeing your little hammy an the set up, makes me want one again. x)
He' so smol omg 🥰🥰🥰 and btw i don't recommend the hamster ball cuz it doesnt have enough ventilation + hamster can't stop running and just crash into things, soooo, it's kinda bad for him.... 😬
How cuute!!!!! How big is the inclosure? I love that youtube too. Is it 6 inches of bedding you gave him? Or 4? I love this video. At first I was worried about no sandbath, but you DO know what you are doing :)
Doro is soo cutee love the cage setup! but i recommend putting in more stuff for example tunnels, hamster safe branches, hideouts, ect in it cage since hamsters like semi crowded cages and u can easily make them out of cardboard that haves no ink and chemicals in it, there are many tutorials about it in yt and please dont put youre hamster in a hamster ball it is really unsafe it can injure your hamster and haves very low ventilation i recommend putting Doro in a playpen instead of a hamster ball and instead of putting ur hamster's food in 1 place ,just scatter feed instead since in the wild they don't just get they're food in 1 place plus it makes your hamster experience more foraging experience and its very enriching and easy to do
You got a Robo hamster the Syrian hamster teddy bear hamster is what does pictures or which is why you were surprised at how big it was. The Bears are a lot bigger than the Robo Robo is not really gonna get any bigger than it is now so you still have no idea how old it is it’s definitely not like baby baby, but it’s definitely not year old because pet stores typically don’t sell anything a year or older
Please dont put him in that ball… its not good for hamsters because it doesnt have much ventilation and it hurts when he bumps in to somewhere, its really not safe

Please do at least 6-8 inches of bedding, you saw how he was trying to burrow. But sadly it's not enough bedding! -and then lastly try finding more substrates for the hamster to dig in! I love how you have a sand bath for him, but if possible get an even bigger one for he is a Chinese dwarf I believe and they need a really big sand bath! Thanks for reading 😊
I love your hamster! it's so cute! but you really need to change the food, sunburst is very unhealthy it's not a balanced specie appropriate diet, have you tried getzoo, rodipet, or mixemera?
it makes me so mad that she’s only responding to the positive comments and not the constructive and TRUE ones. please get a sand bath, larger enclosure, and put much more bedding. you literally said at least 6 (compacted!!!) inches then put like 3
