I hate that people treat hamsters like "disposable" pets because they're small and have short lifespans. Hamsters are living, breathing, beautiful creatures that deserve as much love as a dog or cat

@@annieives664 I know, it's just that a lot of people treat hamsters like "disposable" pets. I feel like this girl just doesn't know better and because the lil hamster was an impulse buy she doesn't have the right care but hopefully she does some more research and upgrades her care!
AnnaMSD so true! Mine passed away this year (Cinderella was 3.5 & Gus was 2.5) & I’m still not over it. I don’t think I would ever get another but they definitely aren’t disposable. They both had such different personalities & I love them so much!
Yeah I wish that was something someone told me when I was a little kid. I feel so bad and I'm preparing before getting the actual hamster now that I'm older and much more informed about their care.

i'm sorry but she isn't. i don't know her personally but she lives in my town, does cheer with my best friend, and goes to the school right down the road from me. she has even been to my church a few times. she is not spoiled. you can't judge someone based off one video you see.

I'm actually so touched by how nice, patient and respectful Victoria Raechel is. She's been through a lot with hamsters and has also learned a lot and i'm so glad she's sharing it with us so we don't make the same mistakes.

Ferret youtuber here, I physically cringed at the "I don't know if I want a hamster or a ferret" bit. Based on her dad's reaction to the hamster I can only imagine what he would say about a ferret! Yikes! Impulse buyers terrify me.
i just wanna say, i've owned hamsters my whole like and 100% know how to take care of them. about a year ago i impulse adopted a special needs hamster - it's still live and well :) impulse isn't always bad

S A they one hundred percent need a friend and a really big cage preferably multistory If I remember correctly. And the care is so different from mice. For example the diet is completely different as ferrets eat a lot more meat then hamsters do, and they have two different coats a winter coat and warm coat( I know people refer to it by a different name but I just say warm coat) and just like any other pet they deserve the right to freeroam as well. There’s also a ton more to it but being that I live in Hawaii I can’t actually own any myself I just know some stuff based off the research I’ve done

when she said "ferret or hamster" I nearly screamed oh my god. my aunt and uncle have two beautiful 5 y/o female ferrets and they have their own room with a double critter nation, old plastic bags, tubes to run in, a cat tree, old shirts, rubber ducks, animal-shaped hammocks, etc. ferrets are large (ish) social animals that need lots of space to climb and playfight. hamsters are small solitary animals that need lots of space to burrow and run. I cannot believe she said that so casually my brain is melting.

The cost of vet care for a ferret can be pricey as well!!! Our guys get yearly check ups along with there vaccines!! Don't think a lot of people realize with ferrets they do need regular vet care!!!

@@anniemccurdy7942 I was trying to tame her, she was a biter. But she recently died, we don't know why. I could suggest the bathtub method to tame your hamster, Victoria Rachel did a video on that, and you could probably watch that to get more information on that there.

-My cousin wants a hamster... (she is a kid) I told her I will get he a fish first. If she takes great care of the fish I will buy her a hamster and all the needs and teach her all the things. I have been doing a lot of research! Your channel is teaching me how to teach her what to do and what to buy! So thank you!
Tell her, if she can't feed the fish every day (or every two days) and clean the tank every week, a hamster isn't the best option. Make sure to tell her that a animal is a living animal, no matter what size, and she should always remember that they have short lifespans so she has to do her best to care for them. She should start saving up for her very own pet. She can get away with the fish being bought for her, but a hamster is her responsibly. She can start saving up and if she can't get enough money then you should help. I hope this helps!

Lauren Park I’ve been researching every nook and cranny about hamster care for the past 4/5 years and still don’t own one yet.
I hope she sees this and thinks, "wow, look at her hamster's cage, it's a mansion! I want to be like her." This was kind of me with you, 101Rabbits, and StormyRabbits, for my rabbit care.
This was so irresponsible, but hopefully she learns, and doesn't do this kind of thing again.
When I got my hamster I didn't know things about them. For like 8 days he lived in a small cage without a wheel. Then I did my research and I discovered ✨you✨. Then, in 2 days he has a big cage, a syrian sized hamster wheel (even that he is a dwarf hamster lol😅) and a lot of hideouts and toys. Everyone can listen and learn ❤

Corona Lemon Katie has been doing RUclips since she was very very young. She makes a lot of money from it which her mom has full responsibility over. Apart from this video she’s actually a very a sweet and responsible person. She gets good grades in school and works very hard. I’m sure the money was hers that she earned from youtube but it was her mom’s decision whether or not to let her use the $200

"Should I get a hamster or a ferret?". Oh God, if that was the ferret she ended up impulsively buying, I would not want to imagine what Hell it would be for her and her parents. With ferrets, it's better to get a pair of them, because one ferret will require a lot of interaction and care from the owner so it wont get stressed and bored, since they are very social. The way she said it just pissed me off. Ferrets are a life-time commitment, like having a dog or cat. And they can be extremely problematic if you dont give them proper care and train, and build your bond with them.
I definitely agree I had two ferrets and they were a family pet until everyone gave up and it was just me so I gave them to my brothers best friends I knew he could give them proper care and one ferret passed and it wasn’t his fault but he showed feeling about it and that really mattered to me
And they have to be fed raw! That's a huge responsibility

Not necessarily! My husband impulse bought a hamster for our children without my knowledge and he was in a tiny cage initially, but within a week I’d done loads of research and upgraded his cage and he now lives in a huge German inspired naturalistic enclosure (PawHut XXL) with well over 1000 square inches of floor space!
Laura same here , we impulse brought a hamster. We did research and got an Alaska cage now we have a detolf. I don’t recommend impulse buying but not every one is bad . It’s good that people research.

Tbh I rlly wanted a hamster and I kept on asking my parents and they said yes. But I hadn’t done any research, and I just thought,” all they need is a cage and food and water.” I hadn’t really thought that much about how it’s environment had to be and what’s bad or good for them and what made them mentally happy. Now that I’ve been watching this channel for about two weeks I’ve decided not to get a hamster until I properly understand its needs and care. And I’m glad about it! Remember that hamsters aren’t toys and that when you get one you have to understand that you’re caring for another LIFE and that when you get one you have to be completely responsible about it and make sure that it gets the proper love and care that it deserves!! 💜❤️

Elijah Soper well hamsters are one of the smartest animals. They know how to defend themselves and they can eat with their hands and tear bugs apart. Not every animal can stand straight up! They recognize smells, tricks, and do need a lot of care. :)

My campbells dwarf hamster (I think she was a hybrid as she was completely black) was so hard to hold at first, I didn't even try to touch her at all for the first couple of days. He looks so calm though, bless him. I really hope he has a good life.

@@BBWBabeLisa well I got my hamster and he is very happy and healthy, he has a big cage which is the right size and he loves his sand bath and burrowing, I named him pumpkin from his love of pumpkin seeds :)

In the US and Canada you have to be over 18

@@majavictoria2009 I already got my supplies,You want to set up the cage before bringing the hamster home. It has to pretty big. You have to wait 3 days or 2 before touching them. That's some tips, I hope it helped!

3:17 this actually drives me insane because I know that it’s the brands and not the pet store but I remember when I got my rabbit I assumed that if the packaging on something is the pet store said “for rabbits” then it was rabbit-safe. Apparently I was wrong for thinking this because then I ended up feeding my rabbit yogurt drops as treats. I even read books about rabbits that told me it was ok to feed them carrots daily. Thorough online research is usually a lot more helpful than most pet store advice, especially with pets that aren’t cats or dogs. Thank you for saying this because pet store advice can be kinda sketchy sometimes.

I'm 11, and getting a cockateil very soon. I've done SO much research and my parents are ok with me getting a new pet. I've owned hamsters and guinea pigs (I have 3) and let me tell you, there not as easy as they sound. Although I did research before getting my pigs, I didnt know how expensive they would be. Yes I was prepared to pay bedding+food+essentials, but no one told me that guinea pigs/small rodents get sick SO easily. We ended up taking my 2 pigs to the vet 2 times the first year, and they each had separate vet bills which are lowest price 325 bucks.
So what I'm saying is, if you haven't pulled an all nighter researching for your pet, don't get one.🤗💖
