I seriously cannot tell you how happy it made me to see you pull out that 75 gallon tank for your hamsters cage. it’s always so nice seeing people give their animals the life they deserve. The only thing I’d recommend is changing up the diet to a mix of Higgins sunburst mix and Mazuri blocks to get the right nutritional balance. unfortunately the oxbow food is really not good for hamsters considering the first ingredient is hay, which they don’t need to eat. Thank you so much for the video I loved it!!!
You can also get a can of freeze dried meal worms from the reptile section of the pet store. This serves as another form of protein. I love seeing people who do research before impulsively buying a pet. P.S I LOVE the name that you chose for Ponyo. 💙
A little update! I have crowded the enclosure more with dig boxes containing different substrates(like coconut fibre), more tunnels, more hideouts, added bridges, and sprays are on the way! Thank you to everyone who left me some tips!
I'd suggest even more underground tunnels, dried sprays, herbs, platforms, cork logs etc. I have a syrian hamster but my first time set up looked a lot like yours. My hamster got really bored & chewed that plastic tunnel to pieces. You'll get better & better at doing the enclosure every month if you keep researching. My hamster has an above ground house, underground house, platforms, multiple tunnels, multiple bridges, jar of cocout dirt for digging, cork log, branches, sand bath etc. People think I'm crazy when they see it but my hamster is never bored & almost 2 years old still healthy.
The standard for hamster food is the Mazuri rat and mouse block and the Higgins Sunburst hamster seed mix. That oxbow pellet is not good for hamsters. The first ingredient is a hay mix. I would suggest changing the food ASAP!
@@isabella9745 actually Higgins Sunburst hamster seed mix is usually fine mixed with the Mazuri rat and mouse block for dwarf hamsters. Since the seed mix may be high in sugar which is true just make sure to give them a correct amount and offer low in sugar treats. The only hamster that’s prone to diabetes are chinese hamsters and I’ve owned multiple and fed them this exact diet. Dwarf hamsters really should be fine with this diet tho.
@@ZoesPetitePets That is why rodipet dwarf mix is better than sunburst for dwarves because of it has fruits that is much better as a treat not part of the main diet of dwarves
Hey I'm not sure if you saw my other comment since it was below my first comment but when you put the house on top of all the, if your hamster decides to burrow underneath the house, it could collapse on him and hurt him. Just wanted to give you a heads up. Niteangel sells some really nice platforms with long legs to put under the house. Amazon has them. Hey! im so happy that u put a 75 gallon in her tank and a sand bath for ur first hamster?! thats amazing u made my day. i just wanna tell you hamsters love grapevine wood and cork logs! maybe get 3 of each and get some natural hay for them. but besides that i love the cage im so happy u got that
I love seeing people with large hamster cages! You did an amazing job providing your hamster with proper care but I would suggest putting some Forest moss (which Niteangel also sells) in between the cracks of the bendy bridge because there have been occasions where hamsters feet have been trapped in the cracks since hamster feet are to tiny. I would also suggest scattering some more toys in!

I would suggest feeding fresh foods. Seeds are great but fresh foods (fruit, veggies, ect) that are safe are a great treat. Also under a layer of bedding you could add tubes. I like natural tubes. Adding hay, aspen shavings, ect… so fun for them! ❤️❤️❤️ Also! I would suggest sprinkling food around the cage instead of dishes. This is more stimulating for their brain.

Hii! I am so happy to see that you did a great job setting up Ponyo’s enclosure and you are such a great hammy mom! I just noticed that the food that you’re using isn’t the best for hamsters. The pellets have a lot of hay but not a lot of protein. I would recommend the Mazuri rat and mouse pellets and the Higgins sunburst (gourmet blend) hamster seed mix. I hope you understand I am not trying to be mean or hating on you and I’m just trying to help! Hope Ponyo’s doing well!🥰
I’m just letting you know, Oxbow food isn’t adequate for hamsters. They are great for animals with hay based diets, but hamsters don’t need all the fiber in Oxbow foods.
I got the same gallon tank, its amazing. Im about to get 2 dwarf hamsters , I had to syrian 4 years ago so mow i wanna try having dwarf. Nice setup! I’ll make my third “hamster setup “ video soon👍🏻
Hi, first of all so glad that you got a large cage as many people don't. FYI Hazel Hamster and oxbow pellets are not a good mix and the best thing to do is find a species appropriate diet I get mine from Etsy. This will ensure that your hamster gets the right amount of protein fat and fiber and since it is a dwarf only a little sugar. Niteangle's smallest size of wheel is an 8" which is unfortunately too small for any hamster species. Try to get a bigger wheel once he gets a little bigger but when he is still little it's fine! I love that you got a multi chamber hideout, I would make sure to put it on stilts if you have not already done so. And always compact the bedding in the cage so your hamster can burrow super easily. Hamsters also need 6+ inches of bedding it looks like you have enough though! Just know that you are doing better than a lot of people do especially this being your first time!
An 8 inch wheel is be for a dwaft hamster. I have a dwaft with a 8 inch. I just too have a bigger wheel she didn't like it was to big for her. Ob it depends on the hamster.

You do not know how happy you made me by looking like you did research and using a 75 gallon tank because most people don’t do the proper amount of research when uploading them getting a hamster. I recommend feeding your hamster Higgins sunburst food and Mazuri rat and mouse diet because there is not one seed mix that fills all of a hamster’s needs so you have to mix foods. I wouldn’t use oxbow because they use hay and Hamsters don’t need hay. I would say more but this is the last I’m gonna say. I also recommend watching Victoria Raechal. the oxbow hamster food is not good for hamsers because it is hay and hamsters do not need hay. They need a seed mix and a lab block like mazuri rat and mouse lab blocks. I use carefresh and oxbow grass hay to help with burrows. Dwarfs need at least an 8 inch wheel not sure what size that is.
