I do want to mention that if your gonna get wood chews for your hamster you want to get toys made for animals grabbing wooden things from stores is dangerous since you don’t know if the wood was treated or not!! other then that welcome to the community super proud you did the research!! It’s hard for people to notice when their wrong when it comes to hamster care !! ❤️❤️❤️
While this is true dollar wood is very rarely treated as treating the wood is more expensive and cuts int the store's profit margin but a good rule of thumb is if it smells like chemicals it's no good

i love how you were so gentle in letting the hamster go to it's new habitat willingly. this video is informative, especially when you provide details, and reason of your every haul. the habitat setup is also overall well done!! in my opinion, your hamster will definitely enjoy its new home 🖤🖤
This is great cage! Love that you give a lot of examples for a cage on a budget, because most channels give very expensive examples and not everyone can effort that! ❤️
WAAY UNDERRATED! Amazing video! Edit: she seems really itchy, so maybe you should take her to the vet, like all new pets :) Especially since she was bought from a pet store
Ik Ik I’m a year late but you can take a hamster to the vet but Bc the are such a small animal a vet can’t really do anything like a chinchilla they can Bc it is a bigger animal but still not big
Id personally recommend a much bigger cage(800 inches of floor space) with a little more bedding (about 10 inches) and you can put stilts on the wheel and sand bath and stuff so it doesnt collapse if the hamster burrows under it. And i also recommend a large multi chamber hideout as well as a few smaller hides. And maybe 2 or 3 dig boxes each with a different substrate rather than just one. Also there are definitely healthier food options, such as getzoo, chubby hamster cheeks and a few others. Also its a good idea to mix the worms into the rather than feeding them as a treat. And dont forget to give fresh veggies twice a week and as for treats, you can use fruits, veggies, meal worms(still make sure they have some meao worms in their main diet) or baby puffs in moderation. Also for foraging, you can add millet sprays and scatter feed their seed mix. But for the most part you did a great job! Wayyyy better than most people when they get a hamster! Heres a routine id stick with: every day scatter feed 1 tbsp of their seed mix with the meal worms mixed in and clean the water bowl and give them fresh water. Twice a week give them fresh veggies cut into small pieces. Every 3 days sift the sand bath and clean the wheel. A hamster safe cleaning solution that i highly reccomend is 50/50 water vinigar solution in a spray bottle. Once a week spot clean their cage by removing any visibly soiled bedding and sift their sand. Restock their sprays and sand and dig box if needed. Every 4 weeks, remove the hamster from the cage and deep clean their cage. Leave as much unsoiled bedding in as possible so the hamsters scent stays. Replace most of the sand and dig box. Check for signs of chewing or damage in the enclosure. Restock millet sprays if needed and use this time to change their setup if needed. Hope this helps! ❤
i have a question! im worried that if i scatter feed i wont be able to monitor her food and if shes eating it. i dont have a hamster yet but i will get one really soon
GIRL IF I WAS A HAMSTER I WOULD WANT TO LIVE THERE, I’m getting a hamster and this is so inspirational I love how you did the bin cage and loved how you decorated it it’s amazing 🤩
The hamster looks very excited running around and scent marking, she has eaten straight away so that is a great sign! On 20:19 I laughed so hard I was not expecting that lol I used to think they just rolled around in it not dig and now Ik how sand gets everywhere in my hamsters cage

It's amazing that you gave your hamster such a large cage! I hope that new hamster owners will do the same. I upgraded my hammy to a bigger bin cage and she loves it. :)

Second hamster owner. Love the video and the set up of your hamster Nyla home. I have a Siberian hamster male called snowy I got him at around 8 months old and very fortunate him loves being handled. I love watching snowy adventures. Well enjoy your hamster 😊
I really love the cage setup! just be careful that your hamster doesn't get to the seed of the spider plant, they can be poisonous to hamsters. also, I would recommend scatter-feeding rather than putting the food in one spot, just so it is more of a natural thing for your hamster to forage for. Also, you might want to add a little more bedding, as you probably know, the minimum is six inches of bedding, but even that is a small amount. Other than that, I think this is great! I have had hamsters for about five years and have done a lot of research about them, I do not want to sound like I am ordering you around, just have a couple of suggestions! 😀 (btw, the cage size minimum does not vary depending on how small or large the hamster is. even if you have a russian dwarf, they still need lots of space to roam around)😉
Great video! I have the same water bottle! I drilled two holes in my bin cage so I could keep it on the outside and it seems to be at the right angle (straight up and down). Yours might be leaking because it's on an angle?
i love this a lot! the only suggestions i have is to put a tile under the water bottle so when it drips its not a huge issue! also creating platforms with legs that go all the way to the bottom to support your heavier things like the sandbath will prevent any possible tunnel collapses! im wishing you and your hamster a happy and safe year :]
