    Thanks for getting me pointed in the right direction. I'd like to propose a little correction: At the start of the verses, (fretting the 6th and the 7th fret then sliding up to the 11 and 12), only play 3 times....on the fourth time, start the 12 to 10 to 9 to 7 slide down. That slide down substitutes for the fourth chord, then get ready for the A7 forms.

    this is britlliant! You explain and demonstrate it so well and make it look so easy, I'm convinced I will at last be able to play it. This is the song that made me want to buy a guitar. Thank you so much. Looking forward to the next in the series.

    Ohhh man , I had this guitar inside a box , like new condition, without that tremolo, with triple 57 classic alnico , I went through this spiritual let things go and be free of possessions I sold it for $ 2.500 , man I regret it everyday of my life , I gonna buy another one for sure , but now I gotta again pay the price once more ... I love those so did jimmy Page did all his guitar sessions and the 2 first zeppelin albums in a triple humbuckers exactly like this one !
    Awesome guitar bro .
    Most fabulously awesomely guitar ever !

    Hi Buddy. First, a lot of thanks for all you share. I'm looking a lot for Gliff Gallup guitar lessons or tabs on youtube and the rest of the web. Unfortunatly, I've never found a Gene Vincent and his Blue Caps version (and cliff's part) of one of (maybe not the best) Gene's song, but most beautifull and very known version of Hunchained Melody. With this Mandolin/Italian style picking. Would you share it?

    Thank you man!!! Scotty Moore, Eddie Cochran..they are all great, but Carl Perkins AND the unfortunately pretty unknown Cliff Gallup (though it's his own "fault", he didn't want to live as a road-musician etc., but I can understand him, though) are my personal fav. guitarists..
    I think, sometimes it's pretty hard to play Cliff Gallup stuff (e.g. the intro of "Bluejean Bop" - he used thumb pick and 3 metal finger picks, and in the mix with the great technique he had, things like such special licks and riffs come out at an hard speed haha)
    I have a special question to you..My fav. Perkins song is his not at sun records times released version of "Roll over Beethoven" (I don't mean the 70s/80s re-recording, which has a very simply intro solo)..can you give the first guitar-solo of it a try ? It's a complete mix of Carl perkins signature licks and it's awesome, but I'm struggling since weeks to work it out.
    I worked out the intro riff, which is, for those early days not really common, well it's a bit like a chuck berry double step intro, pretty different (the best thing on the intro is how he dosn't use an E and an A note in the fast typical Chuck berry sliding on the E and B strings, but he uses the G and the B string, playing a B and E note, when you hear it, you will get it. :D)

    Brilliant. So easy to follow. Not so easy to play of course. Apparently Cliff gave it up soon after and worked in a school keeping his music history to himself.

    I love your lessons, you teach well, you play well, I learn :) ..... but ..... just a thought ..... musicians play notes, not numbers, so why not say "Play A on the 6th, Db on the 5th and G on the 4th" etc? I thank you for all you've taught me. Happy New Year.

    • @acpg
      @acpg  Год назад

      Thanks! Yes, I have thought about this. I usually use a mixture of both note names and fret numbers, and in recent videos there's been more of an emphasis on note names. In a lot of my videos I've spoken about the importance of knowing your fretboard note names, so that's certainly something I believe in. But the fact is that many players watching my videos aren't going to know the note names very well, so in the interests of keeping things accessible to all I will often still use fret numbers as well. Happy New Year to you too!

    Perfect lesson. Tone is great and the idea of gliding into the notes with the tremelo is genius. He did it alot. I been trying to learn the guitar solo for wedding bells. And he does it subtly in there as well.

    Really nice lesson! Just wondering: are you using flatwound strings?

  • @arvo56
    @arvo56 8 лет назад

    Good that you include the importance of the Bigsby trem use. Cliff used this all the time! -but you have the run in the B chord part wrong,-he played that on 6-7-8 frets[3rd string]then7th fret 1st string[4 notes]- not the arpeggio you play. Also Cliff didn't slide up on the 6/9chord breaks,-you got that from Jeff Beck! A good lesson tho'

    Is this Gibson a Jimmy Page signature??? Cos I know for a fact Jimmy Page got one given by Gibson that was made exactly like his 57 that got stolen in L.A. Airport back in 1972 , but it was really heavy ( off course it was it was made exactly like the original 57 ) só Jimmy Page handled the Gibson back to Gibson Custom Shop division, so Gibson then gave this same guitar to the guitarist brother of the singer from that English band that sings “a little thing call love “ the singer wears leopard tight Elvis style Suits I can’t quite remember the name of the band ... but yes he then took the tremolo out of the Gibson and he uses it on his tour , but his guitar was custom Shop made for jimmy Page but it hurt his shoulder due to heavy thick wood used , I can only dream to imagine the sustain of this guitar ....

      It's a Jimmy Page Les Paul Custom. Amazingly it was given to me by someone I used to teach. No way I could afford it myself. A beautiful guitar.
