All these videos are answering a lot. Each time you put one out, I see where I was off with my polishing and know where and how to correct my little missteps now. Keep it up, I appreciate you letting us in on your method of polishing.
Do you have a pressure regulator coming out of your air tank on your air supply? We cut down on a lot of problems with our impacts when we added one in our system
@@EvanStegerMetalPolishing after the air tank before the tools there should be a pressure regulator ( lots of people don't, we didn't for years) that way as your compressor cycles from say 110-130psi on the tank your air line maintains a constant 100psi. This prevents over pressure damage on your tools and gives you a smoother operation.
I prefer Air tools over Battery or Electric ! But everyone has a preference , if a person doesn’t have a good sized Air compressor I could see electric tools . But the advantage of air tools is your tool doesn’t get hot and Virtually last forever !
What grits do i need to sand down my whole car down to metal and repaint it black. I have some rust holes and dents i need to fix with bondo too. Im going with the 5 inch electric orbital sander you recommend the makita because i dont have an air compressor and plan to just paint it with spray cans. It doesnt have to be perfect i just want it all one color again
Good information. I have not used electric for sanding aluminum but I had used pneumatic sanders. Have a handful of 3M sanders. For aviation I go to higher grits so I do not have to buff as hard for heat issues in case there is composite or something that would not benefit from too much heat. It may be overkill for aircraft but better safe than sorry. Do you recommend a foam interface pad between paper and backing plate on higher grits? If so what grit would you start at in my situation?
I only use interface pad on aviation stuff. I too sand much higher on aviation material to keep heat down. I start with thick plush interface at 1,000 grit all the way up to 3,000 grit
Is the makita electric sander a 5 inch or 6 inch sir? Reason I ask cuz I have 6 inch hook and loops and i wouldnt wanna have to buy Two different sizes
Good afternoon friend, I'm from Brazil, I have a question, I don't know if I should buy the Makita GA 7021 or the MAKITA-SA7000C with 4 speeds, from 1500 to 4000
Thanks for the advice I was actually going to buy a cheap electric DeWalt sander for a small car part I need to sand down. But after watching this video I’m gonna cough up the extra money and go with a Makita.
Mirka Deros awesome sander very lightweight and feels like an air palm sander but with better performance. It does come with a very high price tag but I feel it's worth it but then again I always was one to spend a little more on quality tools.
For rough sanding yes. For final sanding not so much. They usually have a large orbital pattern. Check the orbital pattern dimensions. The tighter the better.
I used the Bauer electric sander but the air sander seemed better to me but I only have a 27 gallon air compressor but when I paint again have a lvlp spray gun since the compressor is smaller wanna get a bigger air compressor one day I don't like the air compressor stopping a lot when sanding though.

elipete211 appreciate you watching. Glad to help.

Not sure what you mean.

which brand is your rotary air sander??
I'm pretty sure he doesn't. that's why he said he got inconsistent sanding operation.
Thank you, my friend. I appreciate your perspective

I'm sorry but we only do metal polishing and don't have any info on paint work.

Agreed.
Do you ever those foam interface pads on the rotary or DA sanders?
I personally don’t like interface pads but that’s a personal preference.

I use all 5”
What electric hand sander do you like
Makita 5" da or random orbit
hook and loop amzn.to/2SxCY3r
for a perspective, the maintenanve on electric is low cost i guess, but the pneumatic part rare to break i guess

I use the GA7021
Saved me time and money thanks
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
The difference between an 'Orbital Sander' & 'Duel Action Sander' would be a little more descriptive, wouldn't it?
An orbital sander moves only in a circular motion while a DA sander also moves back and forth.

Makita has really great machines. Thanks for watching.

That would be a bit annoying. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.
it seems they are considered polishers (not sanders) once they are electric
Electric sanders are everywhere.
@@EvanStegerMetalPolishing orbital sanders are also good polishers (not ideal for rougher grits)
@@ivanof214 agree to disagree but to each their own. I use mine on all grits.
Orbitation is in fact a word
Well then I'm good. LOL Thank you.
OR THE CHEEP SANDER AT MENARDS
yep if you prefer.
bought that makita sander and it lasted 3 days😅
