Finally found a video that shows me how to put airway buffing pads on my grinder the right way. After all I'm going to be using this around my motorcycle so I wanted it to be right. Thank You for explaining this.
Another great episode. Another great episode That I'll watch 2 or 3 time's. Because it follows under the category of DO's and DON'TS. That is some good music you play.
That grinder is an old Sioux heavy duty sander, formerly Albertson and Co. Bought by Snap-on in the 90's. A little different than the Black and Deckers. I'm sure they are both great tools.
Hey Evan been making the mistake of sanding to 2000 grit and then having quite a bit of trouble polishing up to a cool shiny reflective surface can't wait to try again at 600 cheers for the tips brother very cool work and great videos man
I still have two and two in storage. Love the wild cat on the head. Only problems that I had was fibers getting in and rubbing on the armature. Take off the cover and install Scotch Brite pad made as a gasket/filter and it stopped the problem.
Much appreciated for the info Evan, been ordering your products online and can’t wait for some down time from work to try it all out. Much respect from Ft Worth, Tx
Really appreciate that. Thanks for watching the videos and for buying from us. Means a lot. Good luck and remember if you need any help hit me up direct.
The centerless ones seem to be the way to go because you must use the safety flange to use them. Just so someone will most likely not take the time to put the black ones on the center ones and get hurt.
The extension is great but rarely used. I only use mine when I use my fat ass sisal buff, that buff is too fat for the grinder. And yes as polishers we WILL come up with some unique solutions to get the job done. Kinda like my tube polisher, this last cab guard (brand new in pieces) saved me about 20 hours. An 8' rough stick took 18 minutes start to finish, 20' sticks for the outer hoop takes about 48 minutes per stick.
Is it possible to setup the airways on a porter cable 7424xp with an arbor extender prolly noob safer ? Im new to polishing wheels recently been using drill with mini cotton buffing discs. And have an old 7424xp laying around.
I just bought the buffing Kit you recommended from Renegade and the Makita Grinder, I can’t find the Arbor Extension you recommended? Also I just bought a truck and want to get things polished up. The tanks have had the Aluminum Bright on them for a while I would I begin to polish them now? Thought maybe I should use the Scotch Bright pad first?
Thank you for the follow up, I just found your channel and what I watch must of been out of date. I will try your amazon site again maybe the link was taking me back to far. The Tank does seem rough like a lot of Aluminum Bright was used, should I use the 3M Scotch Bright pad first?
That is a personal preference thing that you need to decide. I prefer the makita angle grinder that I have in the link posted but it is simply because of what I am comfortable using. I hope this helps.
@@EvanStegerMetalPolishing ok thanks Evan. Have you ever used Zep truck and trailer wash as your pre wash? Sorry I'm just doing my first horse trailer next week and could use any helpful tips. Thank you
I have 2 of those grinders as well as a old Black & Decker straight shaft grinder. The straight shaft turns 2750, works great for rain gutter on the truck.
Hello. So I don't own a Makita 6000 rpm angle grinder, but I do own a Makita variable speed polisher with a max speed of 3000 rpm's. My question is would 3k be enough to get good results on stainless or no? Thanks in advance and have a nice day. :-)
I have some like the black metal flanges but it looks like dips towards the center of the wheel and the guy at the chrome shop where I bought the said the flat outside edges are supposed to be facing each other. Hard to explain I guess but basically like if you had two dish plates/bowls and you faced the top of the plates together? So I'm kind of lost. Are the bottom of the dish plates/bowls supposed to be butted together or are the tops supposed to be together
@@EvanStegerMetalPolishing ty boss. Really enjoy watching your videos. I wish I was closer I'd bring my custom pete in for some TLC on the wheels and nose but I'm local here in Kentucky

It's ok I'll dish it out for ya. We love to pick your brain. We have a shop who provides a plastic safety flange's. However they don't last long because they are made of plastic.
So I ordered two of the harbor freight rotary polishers/sanders between 600-3500rpm with the 5/8in arbor. (I’m a beginner so didn’t want 6000 rpm yet). I have the buffs with the centers in them. I did what you did in the video at 6:20 with the safety flanges. However I don’t have enough room to screw the nut on there. I’m guessing I’ll have to get a different polisher and go with the dewalt one you recommend in your videos? Because the part that it hooks to and screw the nut onto it. It’s not long enough, so they have interchangeable parts for those? Sorry for the questions lol, just trying to get all this right. As I don’t want one of them flying off and injury myself.
Actually hold that thought haha! I continued the rest of the video, and it answered my question! The arbor extension! Should have waited to watch the whole video! Thank you!
Evan, you have taught me so much about what you do, and I Thank You very much.
I would like to know, what you forgot.
Shine On my friend...
It is getting to be more and more forgotten each day it seems. Thank you for the kind words and for supporting the channel.
I’m surprised “they” haven’t come for you yet. This magician is out here telling everyone the secrets for free
Oh they have.

I’d hand polish off 2000. Good work mate
@@DevilsCutMP how about it if i sanded up that high then to hell with the buffs i would break out the Simichrome and a microfiber rag and be done
WOW amazed that you would do what you do so well without flanges i have none either but do very little polishing but i plan on buying some
If you haven't already we do sell them on our website at Goshineon.com.

That setup is a beast. I need to build one in my shop for sure. Thanks for watching my videos. Love watching your social media. You are setting a bar.
Use safety flanges it almost took one of my nails out the center pice broke and caught on to the glove 🙃 not a good few days in pain
Definitely not a safe job. Hopefully you are ok and no lasting damage.

Will the renegade hubless flanges work with your hubless buffs? I have a set of renegade flanges and need to get new buffs and want to be sure. Thanks
Not sure tbh. I left them 3 years ago. They may. We also sell hub less buffs and custom contemplates on goshineon.com

Evan. I'm just now getting in to polishing aluminum. Should I just use my regular rotary or get an angle grinder?

Products choice is personal preference.
So i just need one black flange on ? And not the two ???
No you need two but you will need an extension if using the black flanges.
I have harbor freight brand grinder..
They don't have much torque. Good luck. Hopefully you get the results you desire. Thanks for watching.

I’d kill to have the old rounded style buffs. The new square ones aren’t balanced
We carry the rounded ones on our website goshineon.com!
Can I use the insertable flanges with the buffs that have the center plate welded in?
No they will not work properly and will not do what they are supposed to do. Great question. Thanks for asking.
I dont see any thing on shop. Polish wheel??were can I get then.
Goshineon.Com/shop
Where can you buy the metal safety flange?
goshineon.com/shop in the safety category. We sell the different types of flanges.
So I dont need to use the extension with the insertables flanges?
I don’t use the extension often. Pretty rare I use mine

The aluminum flanges. Can they be used on the buff with the welded centers. ???
Do not recommend that as they won't sit in flat.
You have a website?
Yes goshineon.com/shop
Why dose centerless look darker color
Same buff. Just lighting.
