    My friend how much do you charge ,6 wheels and 2 fuel tanks 100 gallon ,also bumper and 2 rear wheel cover ?

    • @EvanStegerMetalPolishing
      @EvanStegerMetalPolishing  Год назад

      I charge by the piece depending on how rough it is and how much work I need to do to it. If you are looking for an estimate text me pics of what you are working on and I'll gladly get you an estimate.

    Awesome video. Detailing vehicles myself, you should try the Rupes Nano long neck, or the Flex "Pixie" PXE80 for tight spaces. I own both and they can run 1"-3" pads and have a lower profile. They also switch between rotary, 5, and 12mm throw. They might work for blending.

    • @EvanStegerMetalPolishing
      @EvanStegerMetalPolishing  4 года назад +3

      We have tried them and they work ok. But nothing replaces elbow grease in this capacity. I really like to feel what I'm doing and get a good grasp on my pressure. But you bring up a good point. I should make a video on this.

    It's surprising that the fuel tank is so big.

  • @MongoKustoms_aka_Jayson

    Evan, thanks for the wealth of knowledge and nuggets!
    Question: do you charge separate prices for the truck polishing/detail vs the tanks? I polished/detailed my neighbors semi, minus the tanks. My instructor recommended because the surface area of the semi truck $500. I did it for $400 because he's my neighbor. Fair, too high or too low?
    I'm retired Army and going through a autobody collision and repair course for my new career. I started doing side work in my rural area.
    I did try to wash the tanks (no experience). I washed them first and tried my most course pad. After seeing your other videos I realized they needed to be sanded.
    Thanks again!
    Jayson

    • @EvanStegerMetalPolishing
      @EvanStegerMetalPolishing  Год назад +1

      Your price is your price. As long as you feel like the time you spent is worth the money you made after paying for your supplies and taxes then you are good. To me that is really cheap but my shop has a lot more overhead and I'm getting to old to keep doing this forever. LOL. But you are spot on for where I was when I started. Thank you for your service in the military. I truly thank you for your service. Without people like yourself we wouldn't have the great freedoms that we have. I do charge everything we do by the piece. Check out my how to price your polishing video I have here on my channel.

    Looks good. Thanks for the video. I detailed 18 wheelers for used truck dep@ PETERBILT Memphis around 02 to 04. Me and a buddy worked there in parts dep warehouse. During day. At night we would do their trade Ins. Loved those days. We made some good money. At first we didn't because the hours we put in just learning on the first few trucks was trial and error. Back in those days we learned a lot from drivers telling us anything. Learned a lot from Caswell buffing and plating. They use to have a written manual on website. Bout cut and color. There was no videos around then that we knew of. I will say this brother, you do an awesome job, and mastered this way more than we ever did. How has business been since the plandemic? Hell I lost my job over it. Thinking about getting in this again. Down here in MS

    Great video, thanks for sharing! Excellent job blending the top of the tank! I could tell the difference but I'm watching full screen on my 17" laptop. I know why it doesn't look so good on camera, it's because the reflection of the tank is the ugly side of the truck.😉😉😊😎
    That's about the same method I used hand polishing my tanks back in the day, I just worked a small area at a time & did one coat on the whole tank at a time. I just used different products. Everybody said that the polish they were using was the best but we're talking about truck drivers.
    Do you know the difference between a fairy tail & a truck drivers story?

    Truck drivers story starts off, You're never going to believe this...

      All depends on what you are running through and how well you maintain it after polish. If you run in mud or clay or rain all that time and don't wipe it it might not last. But if you keep it clean and on the pavement I know guys getting the polish to last years.

    I have so many questions! I'm a detailer. I was recently asked to detail a heavy equipment hauler. The owner/operator typically takes his trucks a few hours away for full detailing and metal polishing but he was on a time crunch due to a fellow trucker's funeral in a few days. I told him I was up for the challenge and took the truck home. I had absolutely no idea what I was up against and failed miserably. But this client being the most down to earth guy was still very happy at how shiny I got the metal without a proper polishing kit. I did not charge him for my time spent failing but asked him if I could get some redemption after I research a bit. So, here I am on RUclips. Would you have time to chat with me sometime to discuss the ins and outs of a project like this? I don't think big rigs will be something I advertise for but this particular client is one of the coolest I've met and I'd like to do his trucks on a regular basis. I just want to do it right and up to his expectations.
