I think the guilds who don't maintain a standard of play for the sake of friendship or because they've been in the guild a long time, end up destroying the guild. There is no guild for people to be friends in together if you don't kick the grey parser friend.
Dude, the point about people blatantly lying is so wild in vanilla. In SoD I had so many people tell me that they were top x did sub hour speed runs of naxx 40. One look at their logs and I was able to discredit all of that always. Also Jake, fucking love this video dude been really nice.
Yes i do have a gaming addiction haha. I've never downed kt or saph 40. 4h was the most we got down. This was nostalrius tho. I was too burnt out to do it again in 2019. Rolled late into the rerelease and was trying to get ironfoe at lvl 58. Met some tier 3 warrior in Blackrock mountain and he got me into their raid group where I got fed T2 warrior gear. In disc one night late I said something to him that struck home for him. "You're cool an I enjoy the banter man, but you're just some random dude on the internet." He never logged in again. Full tier 3, one binding and all the arcanite I his bank. It wasn't from a place of anger we were laughing in disc, it was just too real.
P server classic was insane. Everyone being homeless broke made the consumer/prep requirements rediculous. 2019 it was pretty insane too, but jfc it was nuts for private servers
I think having a group of people you like and call joke around with is 70% of fun of wow at this point. Like My sod Guild is a lot of fun. We have a mix of low performers and high performers. I know if I didn't have my guild I wouldn't play anymore it's happened to me in TBC and Era. and I very much agree with you that the game should fun over difficult. I think it's fun dragging some noobs around and not having to worry about them performing to clear things.
Struggling with SoD and the release of P4. I’m my guilds recruitment officer/RL and have been bawls deep in LW server discord messaging people, posting in Trade/LFG. DMing former pugs and trying to retain a level of “gatekeeping” simply to keep out the lazy aholes that don’t care about wasting other people’s time. We’ve been full clearing ST since first lockout and haven’t wiped since the second lockout. At what point do I compromise? Do I keep pugging in the hopes that the pugs eventually stay (a few do)? When do I give up and let someone else takeover and just turn back into a raider? The roster boss is so damn real. Love your videos, man. Inspiring shit bruv.
Hopefully p4 makes stuff easier. I kinda feel like the roster stuff is only worth it if some new members become very longterm friends of whomever is doing the recruitment. Probably consider if you are investing in your future. Im sick of sod, but the core group of my current guildies is worth getting to know better. Id worry quiting now would make it hard to stay in touch.
Something you missed about BFD is that it was 10 man. It was easy on Bfd and gnomer to carry have the group with a handful of friends I convinced to play the game. Trying to clear ST or MC is another story. I think as difficulty increases for a raid player count needs to go down. Hard 10 man raids are cool cause it feels like everything needs to do their part, hard 20 or 40 man's feel like everyone has to not fuck up. It's like trying to hold a tray of drinks with 5 people.
Leveling enjoyer here. Idk how Ive played this game going on 20 years and somehow I have never been able to really get into raiding or pvp. I mean Ive done my fair share of both but neither have ever been as enjoyable to me as leveling.
This is so real. Agree with pretty much most of what you say. I'm legit just a 80-90 parser but also played Resto sham so i kinda never gave a fuck, if i healed and the boss died then w/e. My classic guild was dogshit but half the raid would be drunk and the amount of shit talking with 40 people was the vibe. The guild swapping / choke is real, our dog shit guild chilled out once Naxx started to come around, had to find a new guild and only super sweaty guilds left around that are just elitist about passes and "skill". The issue is once you have done the classic content with a shit guild all this extra crap people care about seems so dumb and kinda sucks the fun out of it. I'm not saying you should put up with bad guilds/ bad players we just didn't know any better but still had fun anyway. I'm torn down the middle since i tried to improve and did play with some better guilds after classic but remembering MC and BWL with our old shit guild was what I think back to as the "best raiding" we did.
I literally know nobody who actually enjoys pvp. The majority of players play on a pvo realm because they heard through the grapevine that's where the good players are.. It's about the levelling and the raiding. The whole journey. We need new progression servers.
I loved the classic pvp. People that didn't like it had no friends or just sucked. I say no friends because yeah if your getting 1v3'ed and no one in your guild wants to come help or get involved then ofc your gonna hate it. The rare 1v1's would be elite as well.
So should I stick to one guild? Coz Ive thought about moving because we have not been able to one shot hakkar yet. Edit: Consistently kill hakkar/doing ST without dying

RIP My so-and-so

I prlly wouldnt want to raid with people who cant kill hakkar reliably, but I wish the game was easy enough that no one was in that position
Sounds like you need to touch grass or find some new friends in game.
