      It was a fair comment. Even though wrestling is fake, they chose to call their champ "heavyweight" because of the marketability. That's all Chael was getting at. Also, during Hogan's invincible streak in the 80s, a lot of fans still believed or weren't quite sure how real/fake WWF was. Sounds ridiculous now, but it's true

    • @gusgrau3594
      @gusgrau3594 5 лет назад +1

      Listen Buster Out of pure curiosity, do you call WWE-Style wrestling, fake due to the predetermined winner, or because in many matches they will choreograph it?
      I grew up in Germany when I was a kid, so to be honest it was never a huge attraction to me, by the time I watched it, I had many questions.
      ( I’m an American, but I just never thought to ask anyone before when they say fake, which parts are they referring to, because guys do deal with serious injuries. And have seen fights go from theatrical to real)

    • @Dukeflyhawker
      @Dukeflyhawker 5 лет назад +1

      @@gusgrau3594 yes, fake because it's predetermined. It's physical theatre. In terms of the performers, they're in a class similar to those of a traveling circus or Medieval Times, if you're familiar with it. Each day they have to perform incredibly physically demanding and dangerous work in order to tell the audience a story through their art, while trying not to actually hurt each other. If they fought now? .. GSP wins all day.
      .. having said that, I still believe GSP to be the G.O.A.T., especially when you factor in USADA asterisks.
      Funny how many great fighters who seemed unstoppable before, suddenly couldn't win a fight anymore after USADA serioysly came on board in the UFC .. especially (but not limited to) the Brazillian fighters.

    2008-2011 was such a great time to be an MMA fan. So many fighters had real auras of invincibility, and undercards fighters were promoted more so that every fight felt meaningful. There was the WEC on cable, and UFC did a good number of cable events too. The Machida Era, TUF 10 with Rampage-Rashad, Lesnar-Silva-GSP-BJ Penn as champs, Faber-Mike Brown-Aldo triangle... It was a good time.
    And let's not forget the Chael-Silva fight. God that was intense. Never been so hyped for a fight.
    The Ronda years were the dark years. The best champ was Jon Jones, and he kept getting into trouble with roids and the law. Undercard fighters stopped getting attention. Marketing became entirely focused on just a couple fighters. It segued into the McGregor era with "champ champs" and everybody calling out Conor and retired-GSP. And nobody defending their belts. This ain't the most fun it's ever been.
    Okay, there's my 08-11 appreciation post.

    Question For Chael - Lets Say If Greg Hardy Fight With Walt Harris At Heavyweight And Ufc Make Them A New Belt FBMF - Father Of Baddest Mot.Er Fu.Ker Than Winner Gets The Belt ??! Right Just Like Fake Champion Masvidal
    But How Can He And Ufc Justify This Title Without Facing Stipe M. And Francis N. ???!??? Just Like Fake Champion Masvidal Without Facing Usman And Colby.
    So Basically Fighters Only Have To Fight Once And Gets New Belt !
    It Will Be The Easiest Organisation Ufc In The Future and There Will Be So Many Belts And So Many Champions. Looser Will Also Want Their Loosing Belts As Well.
    You Mentioned About Fake Champ.Masvidal Fake Title Holder BMF In Previous Videos, Saying Masvidal Came To Fight With Another 10 Digit Looser And Became Champion - What The Fu.K ??! Is That How Ufc Make Champion Now ??!
    No Competition
    No Competitivenes
    No Rankings
    One 10 Digit Looser Fight With Another 10 Digit Looser And Ufc Make Them A New Belt And Now He Is Champion ??!
    What A Joke !!
    People Like Wwe Mcmahon, Chael Sonen And To Some Extent Dana White Are Very Dangerous For The Integrity And Fairness Of The Sport Because For Them Its More About Making Money By Creating A Buzz. Their Thinking Of Making Money Can Destroy The Entire Sports. Every Sports Needs To Be Fair And Every Title Deserve High Level Competition.

    Chael I used to know Frank Shamrock somewhat I reckon, for a short period of time. I have a question that I didn't get to ask him...IMO Frank during his prime was the best in the game in his weight class. Perhaps any. What if you know was the deal with Dana and Frank..as far as just not being able to work something out..or it even seemed that Dana hated Frank... I believe many have felt like Frank should have been the UFC Champ during that certain time, and wasn't IDK... Chael I have always admired your work horse ability and win or lose it kinda reminded me of when boxing was the big thing and Arturo Gatti was the most exciting fighter. In as much so as he outsold some title matches even at times. Except your record is better than Gatti's lol..but you get the jist of it...

    I find the problem being greed, so by the time a deal is trying to be done. As you said ufc and mma moves so fast other fighters win or lose and it changes the dynamics and the the public's fascination with a particular fight or rivalry gets lost, then money and politics take over, a sporting system needs to be introduced. I think grand prix works well.

    Fedor would have handled Brock and made him look pedestrian IMO. Fedor, to me, was the most dominant heavy weight fighter I have ever seen when he was in his prime. And I mean no disrespect to Brock, at all. Brock Lesnar was one hell of an athlete. One thing you didn't mention, Brock made it to the final cuts of the Minnesota Vikings. He was something special indeed! But Fedor Emelianenko, man, I've never seen anything like it. The closest I've seen would be another Russian, the Russian wrestler who went undefeated for several years, multiple Olympic games, and was body slamming 300 lb men.
