  • Screen Printing art can require a broad pallet of colors. Screen printing ink mixing systems allow you to create a wide variety of colors blending just a handful of basic colors. Colin talks through how Pantone colors help color matching when mixing inks for screen printing.

    I have some Pantone inks that I'd like to thin out and paint with. What would be a good solvent to use? Thanks in advance!

      @@Ryonet Thanks for the reply! Green Galaxy is awesome- however, I noticed the FN/INK system uses Pantone C(oated) for their formulas and Green Galaxy only uses Pantone uncoated. Is there any way to make coated formulas with Green Galaxy?

    I need to create a DIY mixing system for leather edge paints. Are there 12 to 14 Pantone colors, including black and white, I can use to create whatever color I need within 90% accuracy? I will be using a microgram scale and online software to show me the percentage of each color needed. Each custom color will be 20ml to 25ml in volume.

      Hi @Pequod Express . DO you have a Pantone guide/book? typically in the front few pages of the book there will be a couple pages with the standards that pantone uses to create all of their colors in the guide. this is where you would want to start. i'm not familiar w/ leather edge paints, but there may already be a mixing system out there for that application.

    I have a question, about Pantone color printing. can a printer mix the same Pantone color every time, 100% CONSISTENCY EVERY TIME? I have a customer asking her bottle sticker Pantone colour MUST have 100% consistency every time. she likes to reorder the same sticker every 3 months.

    • @Ryonet
      @Ryonet  2 года назад +1

      Short answer is yes. But the person mixing the ink must have a consistent scale. That person must also weigh out each color correctly and consistently. After the color is mixed consistently, the screen must be the same every time, same mesh and emulsion thickness. The squeegee hardness, angle and pressure must be the same. The sticker material must be the same.
      If any of these things change, the color COULD shift. The ink deposit thickness could change the ink color, and that is affected by your emulsion, mesh, squeegee, pressure, speed combination.

      @@Ryonet @Ryonet Thank you so much. One more question. I like to know an idea from a printer perspective. If you or your company have a chance to get this kind of job, would you accept the job agreement where she asks the PANTONE color MUST 100% consistency every time? She will order the same artwork but a different quantity from 1000, 3000 or 5000 every 3 months? if color difference, she will complain it.

    • @Ryonet
      @Ryonet  2 года назад +1

      @@t8741298 I make this statement not knowing what art you are printing and how complicated it is to reproduce.
      If the customer needs it to be replicated in a manner that has ZERO inconsistency, then they should probably get the stickers digitally printed.
      I would only take the job if I could educate the customer and let them know that - while we do strive for perfection in what we do, exact replication job after job is not always possible, some small variances can and will happen. If they refuse to accept this then I, personally, would pass.
