If the live action One Piece makes it to Thriller Bark, I’d love to see the Johns cast as members of the Rumbar Pirates. That’s how well the group and this song fit together.
It’s a Netflix live action anime it’s not going to happen. They’re going to make it awful like they always do. It’s going to suck and it’s going to fail as it deserves.
@@charlottewalnut3118 lol you should watch the latest trailer and how most OP fans are hype. Also Oda was the driving force behind the adaptation. NGL, Bink's Sake always makes me cry. The underlying tone of sadness that I always remember from One Piece, undermines the joyful lyrics and music. It's hard not to cry when you remember Brook's story.
It’s a song about enjoying the moment bc ultimately everyone’s journey has to eventually come to an end. The last verse is basically all about death. “Wave goodbye, but don’t you cry. Our memories remain…”

Bink’s Sake, a song passed down by pirates through the ages. And as with everything Oda does, there’s more than first meets the eye. Excellent work lads, even if the ending wiped the grin clean off my face.
I'm on a summer longest johns kick and this comes with perfect timing... I just literally feel better when these guys are in a room together and get the crazy notion to sing and blow my hair back / knock my socks off
This song was the first time I ever cried watching something. Brook still being joyfull after his years of torment is really inspiring, and seeing his crew die in front of him is heartbreaking.
My husband and i had an instrumental version play during our wedding. While he doesnt like folk music as much as i do, i know he will love this. Thank you, guys!
This is literally my song from One Piece, the Importance of song to those who sang it. The introduction of New Crew member the show. And how Longest Johns collapsed when they finished song. They got it, even if was just ment as little nod it means they were aware. How the crew in anime as their last act sang the song brought them such joy even as they died
Me and my boyfriend love One Piece and I squeaked when I saw you all did this cover. Immediately listened to it with him and we weren’t disappointed! Amazing cover!
Normally it’s more exciting to hear a group of ppl singing a folk-like song, but every time I heard this, it instantly brings me down cause I know how this ends. The more joyful the song is to sing with others, the sadder it gets when when you are left alone.
If you see One Piece you will Know the context of that song. One Piece have made me cry a lot as a baby and the moment when they played this song is by far one of those moments when I couldn't control my tears.
If I was alone on a ship for 50 years....I too would choose this song to sing to try to keep my spirits up. The song's about perseverance even when faced with the darkest despairs.
I can't sing along to this song without tearing. As someone who built friendships in the military, it hits hard. The good old days(and horrific at times) are long gone. We've lost a few to suicide. But their memories remain...
This song is used two fold, a way to remember the fallen and a way to celebrste a new journey. I often listen to this song to calm down and sing to it and imagine the salty sea air against my face as one by one we all come to rest til none are left...i love this song so much and i wish for it to be remembered long after the show ends.
Saw a video compare it to Homer's Odyssey calling it the modern day Odyssey. I could not possibly agree more. One Piece is and amazingly crafted story (amazing writing techniques, the fact that Oda mirrors every arc I'm the story with an opposite arc in the second half of the story is a Masterclass in story writing imo). It has also positively affected so many people and teaches important lessons and isn't afraid to touch on horrible, important, wonderful, sad topics. For example, when we finally get to hear this song in full, the one's who are playing it are alone and lost at see slowly dying. They with to die happy and with a smile and play this song one last time to make a recording of it so hopefully a far off friend can receive it one day. They continue singing and playing until it is just one left and he has to cope with the fact all his friends have just died and he continues the song, and then he simply dies. There is FAR more to it then that, but that is just a tiny part of what OP is. I keep coming back to that scene (and this song) over and over again
Honestly this song was so well made it doesn’t matter if it’s a choir, a duet, a solo, a female solo, or even a different language, it just sounds amazing and touches the soul. Damn

This song is actually a kinda sad song wrapped in a cheerful song. Act one. You are young, vibrant, you can do whatever, be whatever so be your best.go out there and live your dreams and be a pirate. Act two. Your older. Your life is still ahead of you but with age comes challenges, but don't dispare because it will always get better. Act 3. Your old. Your life is at an end. You don't have long left so make the most of it. Don't cry for me. I've lived a long life and I've done so much, but now I must do something to make sure I'm remembered. Because in the end that's what it's all about. Being remembered. Not sad I guess, but touching in a way. It's more sad from the context of the anime and for what happened to Brook's crew.
