- Kiss Symphony: Alive IV is a 2003 live album from Kiss performing with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (MSO). The arrangements were made by David Campbell, who also conducted the MSO. It is the group's fourth album in the Alive series and first release under Kiss Records and Sanctuary Records. The album featured three of the original members of Kiss (Peter Criss, Paul Stanley, and Gene Simmons). Ace Frehley once again left the band and the concert featured for the first time a replacement musician, Tommy Thayer, dressed as Ace Frehley's "Spaceman".
The members of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra who accompanied Kiss during this performance wore makeup that mimicked the band members. At the same time they also wore tuxedos.

...and what a night it was. The best KISS concert I've ever been to. On the coldest February night I've ever experienced (our Summer), KISS made the place hotter than hell. So glad I witnessed this historic event.

Did the orchestra get into makeup before Act I? And what were they doing during Acts I and II, the latter if they weren’t in the ensemble?
Act 1 was just a traditional kiss concert
Act 2 was a mostly acoustic set with a smaller orchestra and a children’s choir from Melbourne
Act 3 was back to a normal kiss concert but featuring the orchestra

David Campbell is the effing man! He did so much to make this happen, and I think this is so good, it blows away other bands symphony albums. Practiced rhythm kicks can't compare to barely rehearsed counter melodies, flourishes, AND rhythm kicks!!!!
Yeah! I love the result and the arrangements of the orchestra, they fit great in the songs. I like the S&M Metallica album, but in some songs I think the arrangements don't fit so well, but this is amazing.
