I’ll try to explain it easy. The song is about a rockstar who’s wife calls him while he’s at a concert. It’s talking about the broken relationship because his job takes him away from her. He keeps telling her he’ll be home soon, but at the end he tells her he isn’t coming home that night. It’s a very sad and emotional song

They did not get as many songs because Gene and Paul were insecure control freaks. Paul was so jealous of Peters' voice and Ace's guitar playing and knew they were the most popular members that he pushed his goofy songs out there and always I was not too fond of his fruity songs the most.

Plus, listen to the original version of Beth. It’s obvious that Ezrin wrote most of the song we all know and love. Paul and Gene weren’t control freaks in songwriting. They wanted the other two to contribute, but most of the time, they either didn’t contribute or what they contributed wasn’t very good. It’s no accident that Peter’s career outside of Kiss was a total flop. Ace was moderately successful, but boy it’s easy to see why he wasn’t much bigger beyond that.

I saw Kiss three times in the 1970's in concert at the Philadelphia Spectrum! Each show was great! And EVERY time they played "Beth" was late in the show and when Peter sang the line "...and me and the boys will be playing ALL night"! The crowd erupted!

Ace may not be the most technically gifted guitarist KISS ever produced but I love that solo
