It's not just coincidence that my boy the Catman sung Black Diamond, Hard Luck woman, Beth, Strange Ways, Nothing to lose, Baby Driver and Houlagan!!! He was very underrated and underappreciated drummer and vocals, and by far had the best damn voice in the band ever!!!!
MAN....THAT BADASS RASPY MEOW FROM THE CATMAN...!!!!😎👍 I suddenly had a lump in my throat that brought a tear to my SOUL...😪 MY GOD DUDES, THANKS FOR ALL THE MAGIC. 🦇🐱🛸⚘
Agreed 💯 percent 👍!!! In his prime especially, he had the best voice by far and drumming wise, unique style jungle rhythm and jazz filled riffs that he incorporated into Rock and Roll!!!
Absolutely! I think Gene and Paul were getting concerned about Peters rising popularity when he sang the best 3 songs, hands down, on Rock and Roll Over. Genes voice sucks, not sure how his vocals ever made it to the radio waves. I think that's part of what started the riff in the band. On Peter Criss' worse day he could sing Paul under the table.
Yep, Catman had by far the best voice in the band!!! They, knew it as well, but didn't want to admit it!!! Black Diamond, Hard Luck woman, and Beth are 3 of Kiss fan poll even top 5 songs, and my favorite member and amazing Peter Chriss sung all 3!!! Coincidence, I don't think so, him and Ace were absolutely the best in the band!!!!
Different kind of voice. Gravelly, rough sounding, and PERFECT. Peter was really into Motown, R&B type music . His solo album is a great one, still listen to it now
Eric Carr god rest his soul 🙏 I love very much, but I disagree that he played Black Diamond better than the living legend drummer Mr. Pete Criss!!! I can't buy that one, people!!!!
Paul Stanley does a great version unplugged, but yeah Peter Criss, is definitely the original star behind this song, great post, excellent song thank you
I feel the same. Growing up in the 70s as a kid, and having KISS become the phenomenon that they were back in that decade…contributed to some of the best times of my childhood. The music, the mystique…there will NEVER be another time like that. There will NEVER be another KISS. Then, to portray Peter later in life, was literally life-changing.
Peter had one of the best vocals in Rock and roll history!!! Powerful and soulful voice!!! And, from 74-78 one of the best drummers on planet earth 🌏!!! Team Peter and Ace
How hard would it have been to give Peter his own microphone so he doesn't have to use Gene's? Then Peter could have been facing the audience who appreciates him.
Black Diamond was a Peter song and was amazing 👏 as well!!! 3 of the best Kiss songs ever were Hard Luck Woman, Beth, and Black Diamond, and look who sang them, the Catman!!!!
In his book, Gene claims Peter "asked for permission" to attend the convention, they had rehearsals and Peter's drumming "wasn't up to snuff", but "out of the kindness of his heart", Gene told him he could still play with them and just sing. According to Eric Singer, Peter just showed up, came backstage, said hi, introduced everyone to his daughter, then went back outside. As soon as he left, Eric asked, "Why didn't you ask him to play with us?!" Someone was sent to retrieve Peter, they asked him to join them onstage and he did.
But yet, Gene and Paul seen dollar 💵 signs in Peter and Ace, and had the biggest reunion tour in the history of Rock and roll, doesn't add up my friend!!! I was at the Chicago show on the 96 tour and Peter was amazing and very good still!!! Not buying what Gene is trying to sell!!! Lol
One of the best songs. Love the version with Garth Brooks. Nice to hear Peters voice with this song. Peter Chris you have a great singing voice my friend. Perfect for this song - nice to see that times have changed.
peeee-TAH! Not only have Kiss been at a loss without Peter, they lack the charm they had when all 4 had their own chance at the mic. Back then they were more of a solid rock variety show.
Technically, nobody gives a shit!!!!! Because, just like Black Diamond and Beth, all we really remember is the Catman singing the shit out of each of them!!!!!
Eric Singer confirmed in an interview that it was his suggestion. Peter wanted to bring his daughter down to show her a part of his past. When Gene called Eric to ask if he'd be okay with Peter being here, he said he'd be fine and said that if Peter's going to be there, they should pull him up to play.
While in the Navy Way back in the 70's in chicago a dancer i knew on state street would always play this song...she was gorgeous....and every time i hear this song i think of her ... hope you;re well sally
Gene's strength as a bass player shows in the moments when he's playing the song, rather than "playing the bass" if that makes sense. In the early days he had the ability to play the rhythm as well as countering the lead guitar.
He's Paul McCartney of hard rock. Fucking amazing walking melodies. He doesn't get the credit he deserves for WRITING bass lines. He isn't Billy Sheehan, but he always had walking melodies.
I guarantee if you play this song to someone who doesn't know it's a Kiss tune, they would think it's a Rod Stewart song. Very glad Kiss kept it instead of giving it to Rod.
That’s another of Paul’s lies. He never intended to give it to Rod Stewart (who probably wouldn’t have given Paul the time of day back in 1976). He wrote the song clearly as a ripoff of Maggie May and tries to explain it away as being written “for” Rod Stewart. Makes for a better story if he “turned it down.” Then Paul can say “it was #1 around the world.”
Paul was very quick to clarify who, "something really deserved" was being directed towards. Oh no, not Ace or Peter, but you the fans. Well maybe, but Ace and Peter deserved an opportunity to thank their fans as well having turned a page in their lives. This ultimately came to fruition and I could not have been more thankful to have witnessed the days 0f '77 in '98!
He sounded great. And I remember getting this complete VHS bootleg at a record collection booth and I was shocked at how good he sounded. I knew then that the reunion tour was coming.
I remember back in 1972 playing with my band infinity at the kings lounge Brooklyn NY when Gene and Paul came into club to audition with me for them he used my drums he played for them a few songs like Maggie may which Peter blew the place apart now he's with kiss still blowing songs like hard luck women and Beth Miss you Pete God bless you and your success
Me and my friend we there, at the Burbank Hilton in L.A.. $100 a ticket, and they stopped selling booze before KISS went on :( A lot of cool merchandise was on sale there. At one point, some dude ran in the lobby, grabbed some pieces of their costumes that were on display, and bolted for the door! He got tackled by a few guys just as he made it outside, and they took KISS's stuff back. Everyone cheered. As KISS went on, the crowd decided we should all sit down on the floor, cuz no one could see.
Hooligan
@DB-kl9bp Sorry, I am a die hard Peter Criss fan, and the spelling wasn't my top concern on my point buddy!!! Lol 🤦♂️
Stanley better !!!
Don't let any say different,,Peter is the best😊
it's always such a shame when band members can't get along. These guys are the ones who made the magic in the first place.
Cocaine is one helluva drug
The best vocals in the band. Peter was amazing very underrated.
Your damn right!!! He was so damn great and underrated and underappreciated drummer and vocals, it's a damn shame!!!!
no
Such a beautiful song. Peter great vocals
MAN....THAT BADASS RASPY MEOW FROM THE CATMAN...!!!!😎👍
I suddenly had a lump in my throat that brought a tear to my SOUL...😪
MY GOD DUDES, THANKS FOR ALL THE MAGIC.

It's really cool to see Gene's smile in response to the enthusiasm of the crowd.
PETER CRISS IS THE ONLY CAT MAN!
Totally
Julian V amen
Yes 100 percent Eric does it well but I wish Paul and gene made him his own makeup
True
I agree with you!!!!!!
This is one of my fav songs ever,I don't want to hear anyone else sing it! Long live the Cat Man!!
The most underrated drummer/singer of all time.Class dismissed .
Agreed 💯 percent 👍!!! In his prime especially, he had the best voice by far and drumming wise, unique style jungle rhythm and jazz filled riffs that he incorporated into Rock and Roll!!!
Peter, the best voice in kiss...Incredible!!!!
Absolutely! I think Gene and Paul were getting concerned about Peters rising popularity when he sang the best 3 songs, hands down, on Rock and Roll Over. @@donaldmosteller5876look up the midnight special video of Peter singing black diamond
Different kind of voice. Gravelly, rough sounding, and PERFECT. Peter was really into Motown, R&B type music . His solo album is a great one, still listen to it now
Paul originally wrote the song with plans to offer it to Rod Stewart to sing. And Peter said "Awww, c'mon! This is perfect for me!" And Paul agreed.
+Kevin Kiso Funny enough, even their own producers didn't realize it was Peter singing it.
It think Peter's exact quote was more like, "F___ Rod! I'll sing the sh__ out of that song!"
Peter wrote this.
Dagan Martinez no, paul did
KURTISBASED no he didn’t 😂 you can just listen to and say there’s no way in hell paul Stanley wrote this
its always been Peter's song
Yup, just like Beth and Black Diamond. I don't wanna hear anyone else singing these three songs. They belong to Peter Criss.
Always will as well!!! Black Diamond and Beth obviously as well!!!
@@ddobry21 i disagree I think Eric carr sung and played black diamond the best! Agree with Beth and hard luck women though👌🏻
About eric singer and eric carr
Eric Carr god rest his soul 🙏 I love very much, but I disagree that he

God fucking damn, I can't stop listening to this preformance. Pure magic, Peter made this song what it is.
Peters voice sooo goood
Paul Stanley does a great version unplugged, but yeah Peter Criss, is definitely the original star behind this song, great post, excellent song thank you
Kiss was always great beyond question!! Made growing through the 70’s s remarkable time to be alive
One of the best vocal performances of this song, even for Peter. Pure energy, putting all the years passed into this moment. A magic moment.
This performance is so special. His voice communicates so much.
Not even a spotlight.
The Catman's voice is AWESOME!!!
This song sends shivers down my soul. What a classic!
Jesus.
Paul needs to remember his own words...the original four had a unique chemistry that is simply not duplicated.
I just commented something similar. Right on, brother!
Fact
yeah, i was listening to all those who attempted the song, even paul, but you can't top peter's style and voice. that's no shit. bad ass.
Sure it's Paul's song, but Peter owns the vocals. Kiss would have been an amazing country & western band.
I see you
So would have the Rolling Stones
KISS es y será una de las Grandes y Mejores Bandas de Rock ..Forever
Your comment rings with truth....The Wicked Lester demos and the Bullfrog Beer demos were definitely Country and Western genre
KISS DONT DO WOULD HAVE!!!!!
My favorite KISS song. I don't think it would have been done any better by anyone but Peter. He really was underated as a vocalist.
yes next was Beth
@@cleetusmacfarland9453 Beth came out before this; and the original post was saying that no one could sing Hard Luck Woman better than Peter
@prinzeugen1220 My point was that Irregardless of which came out first, that their 2 best songs were both sung by Peter!
Black Diamond was a Peter song and was amazing 👏 as well!!! 3 of the best Kiss songs ever were Hard Luck Woman, Beth, and Black Diamond, and look who sang them, the Catman!!!!
You guys are all correct..Peter Does it, with feeling and From the heart ! Thanks Kiss, you guys are awsum..Kiss forever !
Very true.
Catman a frickin legend, fact 👏!!!!!!!
Very cool of Gene to mention that Eric wanted Peter to sing it. God bless Eric -- That is some humility
But, little did Eric know, it would seal their fate, because a reunion tour was just solidified after this masterpiece!!!!!
In his book, Gene claims Peter "asked for permission" to attend the convention, they had rehearsals and Peter's drumming "wasn't up to snuff", but "out of the kindness of his heart", Gene told him he could still play with them and just sing.

Black Diamond, Hard Luck woman, Beth, Strange Ways, Nothing to lose, Baby Driver, and Houlagan just to name a few!!! He is a frickin legend

Just amazing vocal and presence.
Probably the best I've ever heard Peter sing this. His voice isn't all raspy.
Peter Criss! You and only you can do this song! Cold chills!
I love this video, Peter does such a great job! I wish KISS would tour with this kind of unplugged set up!
peeee-TAH! Not only have Kiss been at a loss without Peter, they lack the charm they had when all 4 had their own chance at the mic. Back then they were more of a solid rock variety show.
10 years later, end of the road tour without ace and Peter :(
How old are you guys
Brilliant best version with Peter on vocals 👌
PETER (The Kat Man) CRISS! Beth & Hard Luck Woman no one else should sing those two songs other then Peter!! Awesome performance! FUCK YEAH!

Me dio mucha lastima cuando me entere que Peter Criss habia dejado la banda, el verdadero Gato, de todos los integrantes de Kiss, mi favorito

Paul sings this so well… but no one sings it like the ORIGINAL, and one and only catman, Peter.
Peter's voice is so perfect for this song. I noticed he has his back to Paul hahaha
Yeah, very symbolic. I kinda feel like Gene actually gets along with Peter - at least on a personal level - but Paul just can't stand him.
I actually clapped. Loved it
yeah i agree peter is a great singer.
Yeah, Peter sings it beautifully but only in his dreams could he write such songs. So thanx mister STANLEY
I've listened to this preformance so many times, I can recognise the screams in the audience
Oh HELL yeah this is Peter's song!!! Great job Mr. Criss! Cheers from El Paso Texas.
