And I can say that this band literally saved my life when I was in a very hard time as a teenager!! I came in with "The X-Factor" and Nicko's drumming of Sign of the Cross just blew me away! And I had the chance to see Maiden live 6 times in the last 30 years. Thanks for all you have done!! You will be missed and it will never be the same as before. Although I hope we still have some wonderful Maiden years snd records to come. 😊 God bless you Nicko and I wish you all the best 🙏
Iron Maiden could not choose a better place to pay homage and farewell to Nicko. Brazil loves this band, for many decades now. I remember living off the coast (Caraguatatuba) in 1982. A small beach town, nobody was rich, but all of my friends and I had at least one Iron Maiden album (vinil). Mine was Somewhere in Time.
You guys are just something else, I really enjoy watching live redordings of pretty much any band I listen to when they play a show in Brazil because the crowd is absolutely amazing and it has a positive effect on the band playing 🤘🤘
Dear Nicko McBrain, I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for your extraordinary talent and contributions to the world of music. As the drummer of Iron Maiden, your work has been a beacon of inspiration for countless fans, including myself. Your rhythm, power, and intricate beats have defined a genre, and for that, I am truly thankful. One song, in particular, Where Eagles Dare, has had a profound impact on me. It's a masterpiece that showcases not only your technical ability but also the emotional depth that music can convey. The way you seamlessly blend precision with passion is something that resonates deeply. Every drum roll in that track seems to mirror the intensity and the courage of the song's narrative. It’s as if the drums themselves are daring to take flight, breaking free from the chains of earthly limitations. For me, Where Eagles Dare isn't just a song; it’s a reminder of how far music can take us when we embrace the unknown, daring to soar to places we've never been before, much like the eagles themselves. Thank you, Nicko, for all the music, the energy, and the legacy you continue to build. Your artistry has been a guiding force, a source of strength, and a constant reminder that with passion, there's no limit to what can be achieved. You have shown us how to face life’s challenges with the same fearlessness as the eagles. With deepest gratitude and admiration. Patrik Scherer

Goodbyes are not good for me, this one especially hurts even more. Nicko is so loved and valued that many of us wish he'd stay till the end. Anyway, priorities are priorities and he has his. Met him in a tiny pub called The Royal William (sadly demolished now) years later when he played for a guitarist called Phil Hilbourne during a hiatus in Iron Maiden after Bruce Dickinson left and before they recruited Blaze. His drum kit took up most of the stage! He was furious when I happened to say "shame about Bruce, heh?" and really went into one about Maiden being left in the lurch. Glad they made up and stayed friends. Thank you Nicko. Be well.
That's awesome, I had the honor of performing live with Bruce during his solo period. It was the highlight of my music career and the low point of his :)

With apologies to the other five, it’s true - Nicko is the handsome one. Hell of a drummer and funny guy. Will miss him on tours but thanks for 42 awesome years.
THAT is how your last day in the office should be. Thanks Nicko. Where Eagles dare - still one of the best every drum intros. Always on the bright side of the live.

I'm so glad I was there! From the crowd you couldn't really listen to Bruce. The chants of "ole ole ole ole... Nicko... Nicko..." were much louder!! It was a memorable night and I think we made justice to every fan in the world who wanted to give a last farewell!
Just saw you in Phoenix, AZ. Can still remember seeing you for the first time in Tucson, doing Piece of Mind. Just wanted to say Thank You for your great drumming skills. Up The Irons!!!!!
Love you, Nicko. Gonna miss you. You’re one of the reasons I started playing drums and you’ve been a massive inspiration to me throughout my life. I’m sad that I didn’t get to see you live one last time but the last time I did was special. We love you
I'm already 60, and I went to your concert when I was 18 and I still follow Iron Maiden! A fantastic band history and you have contributed significantly to it and I thank you very much for that. You have shaped a part of my life. I wish you good health and joy for a new phase of your life, even without live performances. Thank you for the great time. Your long-time fan Andreas from Germany
One of my favorite drummers, not just his skills but also for who he is as a person. So grateful to have seen him play live many times over the years starting with the Somewhere in time tour. God bless you Nicko!
I was there! This was my 4th Iron Maiden concert and by far the most special and emotional one. I heard the news one hour before the concert, I was already there. So lucky to be there and feel this atmosphere. I hope we São Paulo fans represented the fans around the world and gave him the farewell he deserved. Thank you Nicko!
I'm 50 and have been listening to Iron Maide for almost my entire life. Nicko has been my favorite drummer since I was eight years old. I love you, Nicko, and always will. Thank you for everything. UP THE IRONS! UP NICKO! NICKO AND IRON MAIDEN FOREVER!
Thank you Nicko for being an inspiration 42 years ago and every time you played since then, you inspired me to start playing the drums 40 years ago and between you, Neil Peart and Mike Portnoy I have had to work very hard to learn how to play. You were the first and when I heard your playing, it was like being shocked by lightning and coming back to life. You are the best and we all will miss you during the live performances, but look forward to what you do in the future. God bless you and best wishes to you and your family. Thank you for your legendary playing and being my inspiration to play. Thank you so much!
I remember watching Nicko in those first MTV run to the hills video when I was in high school being a new drummer myself back then I will never forget the impact he had on me
What a drummer. MIDI tight fills, and incredibly complex rhythms that push the riffs in a mesmerising way that make your head bang but also confuse you as to where the beat is. The true definition of a prog metal drummer. Amazing.
Damn, I’m literally crying, I never thought this would hurt like this, these guys probably don’t even know what their music means to some of us, the sensation that we feel every time we play one of their songs, the goosebumps of seeing them perform live, Nicko we will miss you deeply, UP THE IRONS !!!
Sad to hear about Nicko departure - an absolute legend behind the drums! Iron Maiden won't be the same without him. That said, Mikkey Dee could be an incredible choice to carry the torch. His energy and skill would bring a fresh dynamic while staying true to the band's iconic sound. Up the Irons!
Hes only stepping back from the touring aspect. He's still there for the albums in the studio. Since he is still very limited and they've had to cut back on their set lists live.
Thank you, Nicko! You're the reason I'm a drummer today and have been for the last 15 years. Watching you play on the Flight 666 dvd is what started it all. Thank you and take care, we love you.
I remember listening to Piece of Mind when the album was released back in '83. I was a freshman in high school, a huge Maiden fan, and a proponent of Clive Burr's drumming. Notwithstanding the latter, I was shocked in the best possible way when the drum intro to "Where Eagles Dare" blasted from that shiny new vinyl LP. Goodbye, Nicko. From your brilliant musicianship to your outstanding DW pedal adverts ("If you had Nicko's foot, you'd play DW too"), you'll be sorely missed. For 42 years, you've been the foundation of one of the greatest metal bands ever to grace this world. Here's wishing you all good things, brother.
Me too - that opening to Where Eagles Dare, the cymbal work in Revelations, the steady heaviness of Icarus, the ferocious fills in the Trooper. I breathed a huge sigh of relief that the drum throne was capably filled. (I still absolutely love Clive's work, but they were really able to do some mind-bending stuff with Nicko... _Sign of the Cross_ interlude to this day can make me trip up if I try to chew bubble gum whilst listening).
This really is the end of an era. I listened to Iron Maiden at my best friends house right after he purchased the CASETTE TAPE of Piece of Mind. I will never forget the sound of Where Eagles Dare. I was instantaneously hooked. What a drummer, what a man!
Many years ago, I won a signed Nicko VHS video (yeah, that long ago!!), through a metal show that used to be on TV, in the UK. I still have that video, stashed away. Thanks for everything you've done for the British metal scene, Nicko...you truly are a fucking legend!! 🤘😁
That's awesome. He visited our local musical instrument store Fritiofs Musik (now Andreasson Musik), here in Uddevalla, Sweden, back in 2001. He was there to sign autographs and being part of the celebrations for the opening of the shop's new premises. 400-500 was waiting in line just to meet him. I did not attend, since I were a bit too young at the time and my interest were not that high. I don’t remember, if I knew any that attend it. On a sidenote, he was friends with the Swedish music legend/singalong Lasse Berghagen, who met each other during a round of golf. Nicko appeared in the documentary for Lasse's former hosting gig Allsång på Skansen. He also appeared via video link, when Lasse appeared on a This Is Your Life-esque TV-show. Nicko was once one of the audience members on Allsång på Skansen (outdoor summer singalong TV-show on Skansen, Stockholm) in 2003. Sadly, Lasse passed away last year at the age of 78. Nicko send his condolences via Warner Music. He saw Lasse as a brilliant, artist, entertainer and especially a great friend. Photos on Lasse and Nicko-Source: "Iron Maiden-stjärnans sorg efter Berghagens död: ”En stor vän” - Aftonbladet
To a man I never met from a man you've given so many great memories and music and laughter and love. God bless you my friend. I miss you already. Cheers !!!
I am happy that I saw Nicko live 3 times, and I was lucky enough to be at Nickos’s final concert at my home town São Paulo, Brazil. 🇧🇷 Amazing show, amazing energy, everybody was felling, from the beginning to the end, very special! A night I will never forget! Thank you Nicko 🥁 and long live IRON MAIDEN! 🤘🏻
the man had a stroke back in January. Was paralysed on his left side. Was back touring and drumming by May I think it was. First member of maiden I saw at my first maiden gig. He popped out through the back after the support band had finished. Only a few of us near the front spotted him. We all jumped around and cheered. It won't be the same with Nikko. Absolute respect and love to Mr Nikko McBrain.
Seeing your friends supporting you for 40+ years, getting the most respectful and true support from the band is so amazing. They know that your life is more important and same with health. The only other band to be this respectful would be Def Leppard. Nicko, thanks. You're a major part of why I own 4 drumsets and jamming out iron maiden
Just an incredible send off... Thank you Nicko for all the years. I'll always remember you as being the first drummer I ever gave a shit about with the opening to "Where Eagles Dare". Nothing short of amazing to this ten year old at the time.
Yep, I most definitely had a tear watching this. Thank you Nicko, I have been listening to you since the beginning when I was 15 years old. I so clearly remember buying Piece of Mind and putting on the record and hearing Where Eagles Dare for the first time and thinking WTF?! Who is this new drummer? So bloody awesome. You will be missed Nicko, but never ever forgotten. 👍👏👏👏👏👏😎🥁🤘
I am so glad, SO GLAD!! I finally got to see Iron Maiden at Aftershock this past October. Who knew it be one of Nicko's final gigs with the band. Thank you Sir for inspiring me to pick up a pair of sticks, thank you! IRONS UP!!
Such heartbreaking news but he gave so much of his life to this band so I gotta respect the decision. A wonderful drummer and even better human. Up the Irons 🤘
Such an emotional farewell to an absolute legend. I was starstruck as a young drummer back in 1992 when I got to meet Nicko before their Auckland show here in NZ. He took the time to chat and sign an autograph for a 15 year old aspiring drummer. Like the rest of the band he’s such a down to earth human that is larger than life. So happy to have seen him play with Maiden just a few months ago. Up the Irons!
I was there with my son Nicolas to experience this historic moment. God bless you all. Keep bringing magical and happy moments to all of us. Nicko, be very happy on your new journey.
Been a Maiden fan for almost 20 years. I've seen them twice in Peru, for this tour they didn't came here but I went to Chile to see them. I couldn't miss this tour, I felt in my guts that this would be the last time I saw the band complete. When Nicko announce his retirement it was sad, but on the other hand it was a celebration of 4 decades of career being a crucial part of the Maiden sound. Thank you Nicko for all the joy that you brought us, the songs, the albums, the tours, the videos, and for playing every single night with a big smile on your face. Up the Irons!
My god, he is such an Icon. Love his down to earth attitude, playing with every local band who asked him to play with them. thank you very much Nicko!! All the best to you! Greetings from Barneveld, the Netherlands. I bought your first album in 1987.
I never thought these news would make me THAT emotional! WE LOVE YOU, NICKO! You will forever remain the best looking bloke in Iron Maiden!

@@alantaylorfc Wasn't that a Joke track of an argument backstage?
@@guitarheroplayer-fs5js- yeah, he's definitely joking, but Nicko's such a character in the track. Great stuff
We will miss you Nicko! Enjoy your retirement🤘🏽
Love you, Nicko. Gonna miss you. You’re one of the reasons I started playing drums and you’ve been a massive inspiration to me throughout my life. I’m sad that I didn’t get to see you live one last time but the last time I did was special. We love you
Love you Nicko!!!!! 🤘🏻🖤🤘🏻🇨🇱
Thanks for choose Brazil to you last show Nicko
I'm already 60, and I went to your concert when I was 18 and I still follow Iron Maiden! A fantastic band history and you have contributed significantly to it and I thank you very much for that. You have shaped a part of my life.
I wish you good health and joy for a new phase of your life, even without live performances. Thank you for the great time.
Your long-time fan Andreas from Germany
I was there in that show and it was truly emotional for all of us. We love you so much, Nicko! Up the Irons!
Thank you so bloody much for all those years of brilliant music and good times. One of the best drummers in the business. Love ya to bits mate
One of my favorite drummers, not just his skills but also for who he is as a person. So grateful to have seen him play live many times over the years starting with the Somewhere in time tour. God bless you Nicko!
Thank you very much, Nicko 🤝🇧🇷
I was there! This was my 4th Iron Maiden concert and by far the most special and emotional one. I heard the news one hour before the concert, I was already there. So lucky to be there and feel this atmosphere. I hope we São Paulo fans represented the fans around the world and gave him the farewell he deserved. Thank you Nicko!
Até logo Nicko. Uma honra vc ter escolhido o Brasil para sua despedida. E um até breve 🇧🇷
Up the irons!
We love you forever, Nicko
He was the reason why I fell in love with this instrument and this band. Thank you so much for your legacy❤
Still sad 😔💔💔
I was there, THANK YOU NICKO for choosing my city for your last dance 🥹🤘🏼🇧🇷
Just the size of that stadium! It must've been incredible
@@DrJ-hx7wv it was, my friend. The energy was amazing
Thank you so much Nicko McBrain! We love you with all of our hearts! Up the Irons! 💖🤘🏻
I bought Piece of Mind, my first Maiden record and that was special for me, the Nicko debut with the band... His legacy is wonderful.
My first as well. Such a great album!
Thank you Nicko. You are part of our lives. Wish you all the happines that you have given us during all these years.
I remember watching Nicko in those first MTV run to the hills video when I was in high school being a new drummer myself back then I will never forget the impact he had on me
Watch it again. That's Clive Burr 😅
They already picked and named their new tour drummer. The guy from British Lion.
I guess he’s still gonna be there for studio recordings so that’s awesome
Hes only stepping back from the touring aspect. He's still there for the albums in the studio. Since he is still very limited and they've had to cut back on their set lists live.
Thank you Nicko! My dad helped transport your drum kit down at the Leas Cliff Hall in Folkestone when you was doing a clinic with Ampeg!
I was a junior in high-school in 83. Those were the best of times! NIKKO! NIKKO! MAIDEN! MAIDEN!
@DanielThureskog Cool! I saw Maiden in Nottingham, last year...I was blown away by how phenomenal they still sound!
Amazing show, amazing energy, everybody was felling, from the beginning to the end, very special!
A night I will never forget!
Thank you Nicko 🥁 and long live IRON MAIDEN! 🤘🏻
Seen once, heard a million times, played as many times... endlessly in the memory. Thank you NICKO! 🤘🤘🥁🥁❤❤
Thank You for Everything, Nicko!
Нико, мы будем скучать! ❤
Это правда
LEGEND 🔥
the man had a stroke back in January.
THANK YOU NICKO THE GREAT! WE LOVE YOU! 🇧🇷❤️
From The Netherlands,..........a big,big thank you to Nicko Mcbrain for 42 years with Iron Maiden!!!!!!💪🤘💪🤘
Nicko is the reason i bought my first pair of sticks 15 years ago and my biggest influence as a drummer.thank you!
I was there!!! ❤❤❤ Thank you Nicko !!
Its an honor to have seen Nicko play live. Nothing but love and respect. Thank you for all the amazing memories.
Thank you Nicko!
I was there and he nailed it!! Thank you Nicko!
Look at him with his flips flops... What a legend
My god, he is such an Icon. Love his down to earth attitude, playing with every local band who asked him to play with them. thank you very much Nicko!! All the best to you! Greetings from Barneveld, the Netherlands. I bought your first album in 1987.
Nicko, forever! God bless you, brother!
We love you Nicko
Thank you for all the love you put into your music, we will always be grateful and we will always carry you in our hearts Niko
