I'm feeling 90s nostalgia tonight and Kiss Unplugged on MTV in 1994 or 95 what ever it was. I remember watching it when it aired and Peter and Ace coming out then them getting back together for a short time
I don't pretend to be the worlds biggest Kiss fan or even a Kiss Army member, so I'm no expert but Paul sings the sing well. It's just that Peter Criss brings something to the song that Paul doesn't. I will always enjoy the Criss version more. Great song
It was 1976...I was a fresh 12 year old aspiring drummer...I ate this album up!! Played along til it turned gray..this is still my favorite number..thank you Edgar....never gave forgotten..never will. Adam
It was interesting to hear Paul do his version of this song, plus it worked really well as a red herring for the eventual reunion tunes later in the show. Most fans had heard rumours Ace and/or Peter would be there, but if Pete didn't come out to sing Hard Luck Woman then I guess he's not in the building? Made the moment of him and Ace actually appearing and doing THAT version of Beth even more impactful in my opinion because they'd done this song earlier in the night as a fake out.
I had never heard this version of this song but I love Peter Criss' vocals on the original but I do have to say (only because I'm partial to Paul Stanley 💜) that Paul's vocals are truly amazing. KISS will bless us with their music for yrs to come. From all generations they will forever be in the hearts of us!
One of my most favourite Kiss songs. I love the original with Peter singing, although I have always thought that Gene would probably also sound good singing this song. But it was a real surprise for me to discover how great Paul was at singing it on the MTV special. Such a shame, and mistake, this song was left off the original CD and DVD releases of Unplugged. Thank goodness for the 'Kissology' DVD release!
I never understood why this song was cut from the official DVD. I started learning English when i was 8 years old after I fell in love with this cassette tape that my father used to make me watch and i loved it even though i didn't know a single word of what they were singing. Today, 21 years later, i can speak English and I've never needed to be in a classroom to learn, it was just for the pure pleasure of understanding what you guys were saying in their songs, my life would certainly be different if I hadn't become interested in it so early. Hugs from Brazil!
I dont know how I'm just discovering this song now. I stumbled on it on Spotify thinking it was a Rod Stewart song. Now I'm listening to it on repeat. Ironically, I love it because it doesn't sound like KISS.
I was a kiss freak from 1975 until the early 80s. After Peter and Ace got fired, they weren't the same band. I listen to their old tunes, and that's about it. I really dug the way Peter Criss on this song. Luckily, I still have Kiss Destroyer, Dressed to Kill, rock and roll over and alive 2. I think the first live album was better... I don't know what happened to it, but I wish I still had it, too.
I recall Garth Brooks and Kiss did a cover of the classic Kiss song on a late night show..Garth nailed the song sure sounds like he was a big Kiss fan when he was younger.
I give Paul credit for writing it, and lord knows Paul doesn't need his narcissistic sociopath ego complimented, but now to reality, Peter Criss took it and knocked it out of the park!!! Catman is why this masterpiece is remembered!!!
The "grit" in Peter's voice always made this song, Paul's voice is too "clean"..... but it is good, I mean.... how can get mad at KISS if you are a fan?
Amazing that Kiss is still packing the house after all these years, and still sound as good as it did when it was new! I know a lotta people think Paul is a little conceited, but he has good buisiness sense and there was a few times that if it hadn't been for him, the band would've ended.
I feel they only did this here to sort of throw the scent off of there being a reunion at the end, the crowd hears Paul singing this and they probably mostly thing "oh shit, so no Peter I guess then..." so when the ending comes they mark out for it big time!
I knew there was a big reunion tour coming because I saw ace and Peter on their club tour and when they both came out to do a mini Kiss concert well I was right after all.
I saw Kiss on their Lick it Up, Animalize and Asylum tours in Austin. Vandenberg / Riot opened on the Lick it Up tour, Queensryche on the Animalize tour and Black and Blue on the Asylum tour. Basically three years in a row. I was 14 when I saw them on the Lick It Up tour.
Exactly. I love Kiss. I was at the "Kiss Alive II" show at the Los Angeles Forum in August 1977. I remember older people bagging on me and my friends for liking Kiss, Aerosmith & Angel. Now all my friends have become their parents. Closed minded and actually believing THEIR generation is the only one that did anything significant. The arrogance simultaneously stunning and amusing. Oh and I like Lady Gaga. That's right, I said it. :D
Tupy Barjud mais uma vez essa descrição do que eu sou ultimamente me transformei por sua causa que bom apesar que sempre trouxe comigo a vontade de levar coisas boas aos outros
In my opinion, after the original until 1980 and the current formation, it was the best formation without a mask. Paul and Gene were quiet with Bruce on guitar and Eric Singer on drums.
I'm 24 and grew up buying CD's. I refuse to download music it's bullshit. If an artist or band is going to take the time to make an album the least I can do is purchase it on CD or Vinyl.
@@williammartin9432 I have almost all of my CDs uploaded in my computer and synced to my phone. I play everything thru my phone to my radio. I don't have to mess with changing discs in the truck anymore. I like it better that way.

They should've let Peter sing this, especially considering he was there anyway to sing Beth. Paul does a good job, but Peter's voice is much better suited to this kind song. And it makes sense. Paul originally wrote it for Rod Stewart and his raspy voice. Peter's got a raspy voice and he sounds quite similar to Rod when he sings this song
Mikes guitar skills have really improved he’s playing a lot more lead lately, Ozz looks great has to be the sweetest guy in the world Robert beat them drums like they owed him money . Really don’t know much about Tim other than his firehouse days solid though
Peter Criss already has gotten plenty of props from these comments so I guess another one won’t hurt. Yeah sure Paul Stanley does a passable rendition, he’s smooth & all that... but... Criss’s raspy voice & his stamp on the song... come on man it’s like everyone’s saying, it’s his song & he was right there on the stage, so imo bad play on the bands part not to have him sing his own damn song. One of the reasons I loved this song so much is that it showed Kiss’ range. Regardless, they are easily one of the greatest rock bands of all, and they hold up to any era. If they came out today with their music materials fresh plus their outfits & stage presence, wow they’d totally kill it & then some 🤩 🎸
Unplugged was one of the last MTV shows that were great.
ハードロックやっているヒトがアコースティックギターやったら、やっぱりフォークとはちがいますね。力強さがある。
This shows just how strong Paul's songwriting is, BUT this is Peter's song vocally.
Wrote it for Rod Stewart.
@@danlewis6591 yeah it’s my fave kiss song, Paul pretty much copped you wear it well by rod for this song
They should have let Eric sing it.
@@danlewis6591 I know. :) Hence why Peter's voive suits it so well.

I'm feeling 90s nostalgia tonight and Kiss Unplugged on MTV in 1994 or 95 what ever it was. I remember watching it when it aired and Peter and Ace coming out then them getting back together for a short time

Elvis impersonation to begin the song. Elvis impersonation to end the song. Nailed it.
Sounded more like cartoon Goofy
He is a shame anyway!!! Hand the mic 🎤 to Peter and get the fuck out of the way Paul!!! Team Peter and Ace always

What a fantastic song and performance. Kiss u forever

I can see why Garth Brooks covered this...he was country, but he always had one foot in the mainstream....it fits him like a glove...
Yes he and Kiss did a live cover on a talk show man Garth Brooks was a big fan of the band and I'm sure he still is.
I bought Kiss My Ass just for Garth’s version. And you can’t get it on iTunes last time I tried some years back.
¡WOW! Una de las más bellas rolas del rock..., hice llorar a más de una con esos versos y acordes. 👏👏👏👏
Ascolta la versione originale di Peter allora! Quella è emozione allo stato puro
