In my teens I listened to this 1 million times still love it 40 years later
Me too!
@@user-cu6tn7qf1v Yes 40 years later and I'm still listening.
This was the first KISS song I heard, it's my favorite.
100 years from now, kids will be hearing this still... ❤
hopefully. I miss these guys already
Perfection. Peter and the ensemble - it doesn't get any better than that. You could see the emotions...
Best version of Beth. And to me, the greatest kiss song ever performed live. So beautiful. And as time has passed, this means so much more. Peter criss forever
My dad raised me on kiss. Taught me how to play guitar through Ace tabs and Peter drums. This version of Beth is the one kiss song that always grabs my heart and some tears. One day when my dad is gone, I know I will come back to this video. Thanks for the great memories paps. I love you
Your comment about your dad touched my heart
Best version of Beth.
Giving me chills and bringing a tear to my eye all at the same time. Peter had the best voice in the whole band I've always said it and I always will.
This was the first song I danced with a boy named Walter Grevett ( Hamilton Ont.) . I still to this day remember how he looked and what he wore that night at the school dance. I was so nervous and he became my first boyfriend. 6 months later we moved to another province ( NB )and I never saw him again. Am now 58 and still think about him and where he is everytime I hear this song.
This is so cool! I love that the musicians and the conductor were in Kiss makeup.
THis is great!! The original Cat Man!!! There will never be another. He inspired me as a young drummer.
PETER CRISS AND A FULL ORCHESTRA, it doesn't get much better than this, this is just beyond Cool!!!! Rock on Mr. Criss!!!!
It is NOT the full orchestra. The full orchestra is on Act III. On Act II there's only ensemble
the orchestra is everything here
it's awesome regardless Karen
@@Abandoned23345
The Orchestra is only background, Peter Criss is the real talent and show here!!!!!!!! Always has been
@@kevinchandler179 I couldn't agree with you more!!!
Been listening to kiss since i was seven years old i will be fifty-four this year. I wrote an essay my senior year in high school on how Peter came to write this song. I got an A ++ and my teacher read it to every class. Go figure. Love this song. Thanks Peter.
best version of Beth thanks peter and may god bless you
Just like the original. But with a live feel.
@@tieukhavu8832 and still gives me chills because it's so beautiful
@@beckywalters2Definitely
For Sure. Listen to that applause from the crowd !
The Catman is a legend 🙌
I knew that song would last through the yrs it was the greatest song they made
Best live version I've seen. Full orchestra! The original "power ballad".
It is not the full orchestra, just Ensemble. The full orchestra is on Act III
Absolutely the best live version ever. The entire concert was fabulous but Peter nailed it with '"Beth" that night.
Des moinnes 1977
Peter has been so disrespected by Gene and Paul both before and after this but without the original and only Catman they'd be nothing. This performance has more heart in 3 minutes than KISS has had in the last 16 years.
Other way around mate.
@@MrZeddy100 WRONG
@@MrZeddy100 What?
Totally agree.
Agreed 👍
My wife and I were at this concert!!! And I sang my heart out along with Peter Criss!!!! And I didn’t give a fuck how cringey I may have looked! A massively emotional moment for me! 💜💜💜
I'm 60 years old and wish I was there ROCK ON
Blessed......❤️
Cringe away, my friend. That's what memories are made of. Frankly, if I was standing next to you and I felt it was authentic, I would have joined my introverted ass in a chorus!
Nothing "Cringey" about enjoying yourself. I'm 57 years old and I would probably cry if I ever got to see Peter Chris sing this live.
Peter Criss masterpiece. Audience loved this one. A little boy was cheering this on a shoulder, eagle's view.
Este no es Eric Singer...???
Peter Criss thank you so much, God bless you. 😊
Best version of "Beth" period
Largo 77
Love seeing it with the orchestra! Excellent.
Nobody can touch the pure heart and soul of Peter when he does this. Just magic. It's raw and not refined but perfectly elegant. Nobody can touch Peter with Beth.
This is Peter Criss song it was made for him and it fits him perfectly that's why I loved it and I loved it when I first heard this song on the radio I was hooked as a kid now I'm old thanks😅
Nobody could touch Peter in the 70's from 75-79 as well, drumming wise even!!! He had a unique jungle rhythm and jazz filled riffs and was very underrated and underappreciated!!! Neil Pert said Peter never hit the drums the same way twice, and that is the biggest compliment from a legend as well like God rest his soul Neil Pert!!!! Paul and Gene can say whatever they want and bash Peter and Ace, but the true fact is, Peter and Ace auditioned just like 40 other drummers and guitarists and look who won the jobs!!!! Team Peter and Ace always
@@kevinchandler179After Peter Criss and Ace Frehley were kicked out of Kiss, I lost all interest in the band.
@glamsterscrypt2
Correct. And don't forget Bill Aucoin. He did his best to help Peter (sent him to therapy, to drumming lessons) but then Bill Aucoin, too, voted against Peter. That's why it's not fair to blame only Paul and Gene..Ace was glad, too, when Peter left.
Unfortunately "Beth" has never been my song. But recently I heard Eric Singer's version, his voice so clear, pure, clean. And he "touched" me. He is not "better", no, I simply have more "feelings" by listening to Eric.
This deserves more than a thumbs up. This is the greatest rock band of all time.
Not much rock going on in this video though.
Yeah, then check out Black Diamond live in the 70's!!!! Peter and Ace shined like a mother fucker!!!
But a beautiful love song
Still the most requested song of all time.
Still the only man to sing it. The original and only cat man. Peter criss.
When Peter married Gigi, a Christian woman, his outlook started changing and finally he said he did not like the direction that Gene and Paul were taking Kiss and he felt he had to quit for good. He wanted Kiss to expand and do more ballads like Beth but Gene said "that aint Kiss" and refused. So that was it. God totally bless you Peter.
Peter never liked any direction. "Dynasty" was not his direction, he pretended in an interview. But who did the disco song "Dirty Livin'"? Peter. He doesn't always know what he's talking about (with or without 🥃).
And everyone else is to blame.
To blame for what??? For one of the best damn drummers on planet earth 🌏 from 74-77? Lol
Try again, Peter was amazing and fantastic period 👏!!!!
@@kevinchandler179
Peter blamed everyone else for the WRONG DIRECTION.
That's ridiculous. Because he himself did a disco song!
What's this got to do with his legend? It's Peter who took the wrong direction. And Monique, Ace's daughter, told him: "Father, you're on the wrong way".
That was my favorite song as a little girl ❤❤❤
This take of yours is both a bit delusional and revisionistic, imo.
Best show I have ever seen. Kiss puts the spectacle in rock n roll!
I was 2nd row and Peter got the best appluase for the night definately. To see him sing this with all the strings and violins was incredible. And did the '' Catman '' justice. He was an integral part of the original fouresome that started it all
Paul Dunlea, yeah, I thought you looked familiar. 👍🏻
Paul Dunlea Peter got fired by Kiss for drugs.
@@hankbridges5055 '' Only One Catman ''

Cannot be replaced
Great song, and performance of it here. But one thing I noticed, the young ladies reaction in the front that's dressed like him. When Peter noticed and acknowledged her. It made her night. Little things like that is what wins fans for life.
The smile from the lead violinist says it all..she knew..❤
There is only one catman and his name is Peter
I agree
The little girls dressed like Peter and Ace are so cute, they were interviewed at the beginning of the DVD (the documentary portion). 🐱🌌
Domo Arrigato.
My favorite part of the behind the scenes mini documentaries are the rehearsal and the soundcheck.
Awesome! Is it somewhere online to see?
What lengths will Paul and Gene go to disreputable nonsense of the legendary Peter and Ace!!! Pathetic
To me this is one of the best songs Kiss has ever had
.....🎉❤
Pete is the man
his grandfather left from our country many years ago.
grazie Pete 🇮🇹
Peter Criss Italian and Irish decent.
Listen to Lydia Criss in an NYRocks interview: "Peter is half Italian, half Irish/English AND GERMAN".
59 years old and this makes me feel 14 again!
me too sister, we lived the best life with music !!
Me too I'm 58 and I remember when destroyer came out and I heard this song for the first time feels like it was yesterday ah the 70's best decade of my life and the best for music peter criss singing beth will always have a special place in my heart ❤️ thank you catman!!!
I'm 60,this tugs at my heart. Wish I was 12 or 13 again. My parents were Young+my whole life was ahead of me!!😢
What a special moment!
i was at this concert was a great show
Soooooo geiler Song. Kenne ihn tatsächlich seit meiner Jugend. Und die Version mit dem Klassikorchester ist voll genial. Thank you Kiss, for this beautiful Song. Love you since many many years. I´m 59.
I absolutely love this ❤ the greatest part is the kids that could be their grandchildren(in age) in the audience with their face painted and singing their hearts out
The 2 sisters❤
Made me cry 😊
I have been listening to the Doobies since the early 70's. Going to see them in a few weeks for the 6th time. This time, I'm going with my 33 year old son. He loves them too!
Mein absoluter Favorit ❤ Die Komposition, der Text, die Stimme... Einfach unsagbar genial! Dieses Lied hat mein Leben geprägt, erleichtert und trotz der Ernsthaftikeit viel Freude gebracht.
Just beautiful !!! 😇
I've been there since 1970 something. We shoveled snow to buy all the Kiss albums. My brother was Gene and I was Peter!
LoL, so sweet seeing those little girls sing along to a song that at that time was almost thirty years old
It's still my favorite. Saw them in1979 at the Savannah Civic Center. I was seventeen at the time and I still love Kiss today.
Peter and Ace made them famous!!!! On coke and booze still were amazing in the 70's!!!
This is my favorite song
kiss is still my favorite group of all time
That’s arguably the greatest love song ever written and recorded 😅
Devout Kiss fans remain divided all these years over this song. I think that's a good thing. Beth eventually won over many of the early Destroyer people through the decades, not just for the nostalgia, but because it is timeless ballad that proved its worth.
I Totally Agree. When I first got mart I worked in the oilfield and worked hard enough I got a promotion to where I wasn’t in the Gulf of Mexico all the time but got home every nite to my. New born baby girl and wife. But I worked. Seven days a week. 12&16 hour days. I stayed at work so much my wife started driving all day to another state for a year before I caught on because I noticed all the mileage on our car
This was a beautiful song for the men who is involved with Beth married or girlfriend. Peter did a good job singing this song for Beth and the audience loved it. Good Job.❤
He better have sung it right. He wrote it. Lol
@@shaunlitt
Stan Penridge wrote the song. When he sued KISS to get royalty, they insisted, that it was co-written in KISS: by Bob Ezrin (and Peter).
@@HappyMachorino-bd8noPeter and Stan got most of the lyrics by writing down a bunch of their previous bandmate’s phone calls to his wife Beck, as a joke. Peter later added some other lyrics (such as “a house just ain’t a home”) and came up with the vocal melody by humming it. Bob Ezrin wrote the instrumental backing track.
Maybe Stan wrote most of the other songs, but Beth has a lot of Peter’s contributions.
@@basketcase6999
Peter's lines"..ain't a home" etc. were written by Lydia Criss.
And what Stan Penridge wrote was more "mean". Beck, you're nagging. Bob Ezrin made: you like complaining. Beck was annoying/ the bandmate was harsh. But Bob Ezrin brought the (false) romantic in. He completely changed the character of the song.
We don't know the lawsuits.
Later Peter and Stan Penridge sued each other. Who knows...
Peter just remind me of John Lennon, more simple more good. All of KISS members could sing. What a legendary band. 🤘🏼🎸🥁
As I've had time to really catch up on my Kisstory I've realized how great Ace and Peter are. They took nothing away from Gene but Gene had to get all jealous and try to steal the spotlight from them. There was enough spotlight for everyone and the competition wasn't necessary. Fans can love all four.
This was so heart wrenching! Wow! This song was so sad as a kid in the 70's. To hear it now with this beautiful orchestra......Amazing! Peter Chriss really puts his heart into this song. Gene and Paul cant handle that this song is their most revered. Thank you Peter! ❤
I knew that song would stand the test of time
I was lucky to see kiss back in 1978 in there prime at Evansville, ind never will forget it
Nice but 1974 to 1977 was their prime by late 77 they were fighting and it showed and the drugs were kicking in as well as Gene and Paul's inflated egos! By 1978 they were on the verge of splitting up and by 1979 they did a shit album with the disco fruity song I was made for loving you. However, the Ace and Peter songs were still okay by 1980 the heart of the band Peter was gone and by late 1982 the best guitarist and the other major piece of the Kiss sound was gone and as far as I was concerned Kiss was dead! I never bought another Kiss album or followed them until the 1995 or 96 reunions which I saw then twice thank god. The fake Kiss I never saw and from the clips I have seen I did not miss anything lol. I am glad I did not because my last memory is of the real Kiss. Real Kiss fans should have boycotted Kiss but sadly people will listen to crap and buy anything today.
They were in there prime more than you mentioned. I know I grew up listening these guys
it has never been done in the history of musici 🎉t's one of those repartoir to our world class we've never have heavy metal that was so open-mindedso they allow its member to create their own hitsand they scored the highest on Billboard everit's out of this worldthank you for making the artist World beautiful
It’s really a beautiful piece of music.
the best kiss ever
Yes, but only for housewifes.
For the Hard Rock KISS fans "Beth" was a punishment.
To me that was the greatest song they sang
I was/am.. VERY IMPRESSED WITH THIS ALBUM
I knew it would last through the yrs to I'm 65 I've always loved that song

Beth, I hear you calling
But I can't come home right now
Me and the boys are playing
And we just can't find the sound
Just a few more hours
And I'll be right home to you
I think I hear them calling
Oh Beth, what can I do?
Beth, what can I do?
You say you feel so empty
That our house just ain't a home
That I'm always somewhere else
And you're always there alone
Just a few more hours
And I'll be right home to you
I think I hear them calling
Oh Beth, what can I do?
Beth, what can I do?
Beth, I know you're lonely
And I hope you'll be alright
'Cause me and the boys will be playing all night
Yes we know the lyrics but thank u anyways
I could watch this man sing all night !❤❤❤❤❤❤
Beth sung by Peter tears every time I listen to it😢 ... It resonates to the heart💓💓
The only one version with live orchestra
This was the perfect opportunity for someone to have 'slipped' in one of the musicians wearing Paul Stanley's "Phantom of the Opera" make-up, mask, whatever,, and cape.... and be playing his/her instrument up in the rafters,.
This song is based on Peter and Beth, her real name is Becky but it was changed to Beth. Becky said I was working for 6 years of our marriage and supported Peter. You can google like I did to get the information on Beth. This is my favorite song by KISS ❤
In reality Stan Penridge wrote the song "Beck"🖊️ Rebecca had nothing to do with Peter. She was the wife of Stan Penridge's band mate. And she constantly disturbed their sessions with ☎️.Bob Ezrin rewrote the annoying 📞song to sound🎵.
The best rock ballad of all time.
Nunca imaginé que kiss tuviera está rola. Realmente se inspiró Peter Criss con esta increíble rola. No cabe duda que el romanticismo nunca pasa de moda
This live orchestral version is best :-) Loved it! ~Jackie
im pretty sure this was the first time Peter sung Beth with a symphony orchestra, before that he used to sing with the tape.
Love Peter Criss!! The original four were the best! Never convince me otherwise. 💜☮
this song is so beautiful
First time I seen this. Tears came to my eyes.
Wonderful rendition.

'Beth' sounded especially gorgeous here. 🔥🔥
This is, Mr. Peter Criss, the real legend of the original lineup, also Ace!!!!!!!!!!!
La riascolterei cento volte e per cento volte mi emozionerei come la prima volta...
Besides the night he sang it to his mom at Madison Square Garden in the 70's, very great version!!!
To my Beth Ann.i loved Beth.
Thank you Peter.youre Awesome man
God Bless you, Pete!
Such a beautiful song. A song for the ages xxxx
I always wondered if Gene and Paul were jealous that Peter’s song is the most popular
Rivalry among artists is nothing new. Paul wrote, when he was driving his car, they played "Beth" on the radio. But the Rock Station played his "Detroit Rock City". Both songs are also Bob Ezrin songs. He was their producer. Family business. Besides "Beth" is maybe the most popular song, but not for Hard Rock fans. But it made "ladies" and housewifes KISS fans too.
The average age of Kiss fan was 16-17. Saw them twice in S.FL The best time of my life.
i love this song .... very very much
