    Hey Y'all! So I have been seeing the comments y'all were leaving about the amount that I was taking and how 1 tablespoon is too much. *I just want to clarify, I was taking at my MAX one 1 teaspoon.* When I was editing the video, I thought I misspoke and added the "tablespoon" onto the screen to correct myself when I did not need to. For that, I am sorry for the confusion! And you guys are right, I should have done more research into something I was ingesting into my body. I didn't and I quickly learned my lesson for doing that. That is why I made the video. I want you guys to learn from my mistake.
    If you take them and they work for you, that's great. I am not taking away from your experience. I am simply sharing mine. Thank you to everyone that has wished me, my family, and my mental health well! I have not felt the way I described in the video since I stopped taking the MSM 🙂

    I use the same brand of msm it was $40 on Amazon. I use it in my DYI hair growth oils, deep conditioners and my refresher sprays. I just grind up my msm because of the large crystals. When I take the msm I only use an 1/8th tsp in my coffee with collagen peptide and vitamin c. I must say this has aided me to growing my hair to waist length. Aw sweetheart, I'm so sorry you went though hell and back, but MSM is known to causes mood swings, insomnia, weight gain. ect ect ect. I could go on and on. I'm a register nurse, and we are trained to look at factors that could have caused you to spiral into your depression. First and foremost, as a nurse, your mental health far exceeds any kind of hair growth, or any kind of beauty regime. I'm very happy that you are feeling better that is far more important. Now, I suffer from severe depression, and it is a constant struggle most days. I did my research on MSM, and I was hesitant because of it causing mood swings. I'm a big guy I'm 6'4 220. I started off with 1/8 teaspoon. I would added it to my hibiscus hot tea, and a some collagen powder. *Knock on wood* I have been fortunate not to have any side effect thus far (I'm a little more gas, than usual). When I go to work I dissolve 1/8 teaspoon of MSM in hot water, and stir it into my cold tea as I drive to work. However, from all the research I did it stresses to drink at least 2 liters of water. Most people are like: bitch you crazy! I'm a floor nurse, so I'm constantly running around and I do end up drink to full 2 liters of water. I'm not sure if you have tried Collagen Peptides Powder | Hydrolyzed Type 1&3 Collagen | Non-GMO Verified, Certified Paleo Friendly and Gluten Free - Unflavored (32oz Jar) . I put two scoops into my hot tea. I love this brand because it completely dissolves, and if I have something gritty at the end of my tea, it makes me want to barf. Anything taken internally it takes time to show any results. I've noticed with that brand of collagen my hair and nails are growing like mad, but it took almost 3 months of constant use to see any benefits. If you are up to it, perhaps you should try the MSM again, with extreme caution. 1/8 for a month, and dissolve it in hot water, and add it to your favorite cold beverage, or add it to your hot tea. DRINK a least 2 liters of water! If anyone leaves a mean comment because you spoke your truth, than they can have the middle finger! The unique thing about our body's is that we are all different, some of us take ungodly amounts of certain things that would kill the next person. If you are not comfortable taking MSM again, then don't. Thank you for speaking your truth. Love and support of a nurse

    You've got such beautiful skin. Not all MSMs are made equal. The best g=form of MSM is Opti-MSM. A FORM that is most bioavailable for absorption in the body. Some MSMs have fillers, preservatives (to prevent clumping of the powder) or are artificially made. The most naturally occuring form of MSM are the coarse flakes (called flakes but are like crystals) as oppose to the fine powder. Dr Best's Opti-MSM is apparently one of the good ones. Thanks for the video, now I know not to take it mixed with vit C. However, vit C is necessary for MSM absorption but to be taken separately.

Other than that I love it. Works well for sore joints too (which it's actually intended for). With that being said EVERYONE's body works differently and processes things different. It's important that you posted this video because there could be someone who got this type of depression from taking MSM and have no idea where it came from and is STILL taking it because there is nothing out there that states that as a side affect. Yeah. Our bodies are not use to it! Also you should be very very hydrated while taking msm!! If you’re going to the bathroom after you take msm it is extremely important to replenish all the water that is being lost. (Maybe half of a gallon a day ). I’m not saying that this would fix the depression that you were but could prevent your body from being harmed.

    I also do hair challenges on my channel, however I believe the sulphur 8 or the virgin hair fertilizer may have damaged my scalp; made it sensitive. I tried doo gro and sulphur 8, i"ve also tried virgin hair fertilizer, wild growth oil and a few others. The Virgin hair fertilizer gave the best results length wise and in a short space of time (All documented on my channel). However I think castor oil and dax grease may be better for my hair's overall health. Thanks for the video.

    I was using the same brand. I attempted taking it every morning with my tea but it really made my skin break out horribly . I had to stop taking it by mouth however I have added it to a water spray bottle and spray it on my scalp every few days and man has my hair started to take off growth wise ! I only spray the msm on my scalp though because spraying it on my actual hair strands tends to make it feel weird. As far as vitamins go I started taking a super vitamin powder (that has all my veggies ,fruits, and probiotics for the day) and this is has also contributed to growth without messing up my skin. We focus on hair vitamins but sometimes it is other nutrients that we are missing that is hindering or slowing our hair growth.

    Hi Simone. This is my first time visiting your channel. I want to thank you for your honesty and courage in telling about your experience. Having gone through a major depression myself, I thoroughly agree with your decision not to risk taking it again. Very scary! I'm probably much older than most of your viewers {66) I've subscribed to various hair care channels and tried almost everything to grow my hair. My hair has been thinning for about 10 years and nothing seems to work. In the last year or 2 it has also been breaking.

    The headaches you can get from taking to much msm at first... I only took 1/4 tsp and I needed to start at 1/8th and go slower than what people recommend
    Also, if you really want more sulphur in your diet, Onions, garlic, anything in the allicin family. You don't need any supplements if you don't want to take any.
    Msm CAN build up in you to unhealthy levels. It's why your supposed to take breaks from it. I do 3-4 weeks on, 1 off.
    If you are eating alot of vegtables, you very Likley won't need much if any of added msm.
    I've read online it's given people insomnia, headaches, stomach ache, thinner blood, increased acne ect
    You are not wrong in thinking this could be the reason for your mental state. Your 💯 justified. The fact your symptoms went after 3 days says alot. I'm glad your better.

    • @HoneeyBee3
      @HoneeyBee3 10 месяцев назад

      This is the first time Ive heard of taking breaks from msm. Interesting, because you kind of confirmed my suspicions. I was wondering if I should take it for about 3 weeks, then stop for a week or 2, then get back on it, and use it that way. I've heard a lot of people talk about it messing up their period, so I was wondering if I should basically stop it by the time I ovulate, which would be 2.5 weeks on 2.5 weeks off. Or stop it like a week before my period is expected, which would be 3 weeks on and 1 week off.

    So Tresses Of Alexis just asked a question on her community page. What is something that isn’t talked about in the natural hair community. I truly believe we need to discuss why more DIYs can be more damaging to hair and health than some of the things we buy in the store. I never really understood the cocktail of Doo grow with Slufur 8 and or Wild Growth oil. You are correct in saying that a lot of popular oil blends seal in the dryness, and end up causing more dryness and breakage. I suffered for a long time not understanding why my hair wasn’t at it’s best. The simple answer is it was dry as the desert. The fact of the matter is that water is moisture.

    • @Vibezincomming
      @Vibezincomming 3 года назад +1

      I would say water is hydrating and oils or other sealants are moisturizing(they decrease the rate of hydration loss) . But I think the hair community needs to think about rehydration, in your case I'm guessing you put moisturizer on dry hair which isn't good. Try it in wet/ damp hair, then maybe rehydrate in a few days.

    • @moriahearley3725
      @moriahearley3725 3 года назад +1

      @@Vibezincomming I'd agree. Additionally, alot of the "oils" or "oil"mixtures in the stores aren't actual plant oils, but an earth(?) oil. Things like mineral oil, or petrolatum(vaseline) perform completely differently than an oil derived from plants like olive, coconut, almond, etc.

    • @SimoneNicole
      @SimoneNicole  3 года назад +1

      Girllll don't get me started on OILS!! But speaking against them is almost taboo in the community! But I don't understand why. If they work for you that's okay. But oils are not the end all for some people. (Me 🙋🏾‍♀️, I'm some people 😂)

My hair used to swing on my shoulders and now it barely reaches my neck. It took me 1.5 years to get my hair back to where it used to be. Now I'm soo cautious. Sulfonamides (quite a common ingredient in antibiotics)medication is also called sulfa drugs. Nothing to do at all with organic sulfur whatsoever...msm cannot build up in your body (its water soluble) and actually is a liitle known natural way to help allergy sufferers. The reactions she had were specific to her introducing it into her body too fast. Many stick with 1/8 for a couple weeks before titrating up. She said she tried it for 2 weeks and was at 1 full tspoon before stopping people are inclined to blame sulfur when they get side effects but the reality is its the toxins pushing out too fast...and if she wasnt drinking 9 or 10 glasses of water at the time those toxins had nowhere to go unfortunately. Sulfur is literally classified as a food because we need it and we cant produce it on our own. The toxins are not sulfur they were already there and are proof how useful sulfur actually is in trying to get rid of them. Just people gotta take it slow cause we are all FULL of toxins. Hope that helps clear up the confusion

    I am sorry to hear about your experience. I know Sulphur 8 and Wild Growth oil smells awful, but hear me out.😂 I started using Wild Growth oil in the 90s and it's the truth! I buy a empty applicator bottle from the hair store and pour 1/2 Wild Growth in it and add a carrier oil like Avacado, Coconut, Aloe Vera, Jojoba etc and a few drops of Jasmine, lavender and orange oil. You can use any combination of essential oils, those are just my favorites. I braid my hair in sections and oil my scalp. I then run coconut oil from root to tip... making sure I coat the ends of my hair. If I don't have coconut oil, I use another carrier oil. Then, I place a clear plastic shower cap over my hair. Afterwards, I put on a stocking cap. The cap will keep the shower cap from slipping and dripping oil while you sleep.. Then, I put on a head scarf. This method is called the Greenhouse method, and it does work. Moisturized hair and healthy hair. As far as the sulfur, I prefer to make my own sulfur oil. I mix sulfur powder, a carrier oil (or oils) and essential oils. Best of luck to you on your hair journey.

    • @HoneeyBee3
      @HoneeyBee3 10 месяцев назад

      If you dont mind sharing, what type of medication, and is to reduce the prolactin? Did it basically give you PCOS or something? Because when doctors suspected I had pcos, they wanted to retest my prolactin levels because they were high the first time around my cycle, then they supposedly stabilized by the next test. So they told me I didn't have PCOS. So did msm do this for you? How are your periods now? I have really PAINFUL periods, but they are typically consistent and on time with no more than a 5 day variation for when I begin my menses, but my flow is HEAVY and really painful, and I pass lots of tissue, for about 3 days but I bleed 5 to 7 days.
      How are you doing now?
      *edit, I don't take MSM currently, but thought about it. But your post is giving me second thoughts 😢. I took msm for like 2 weeks about 3 years ago maybe and stopped because I had the WORST heartburn and chest pain. Thought it might be the brand, so I was looking for another brand. So I wasn't on it long enough to notice a change in my cycle, just to clarify. The information you provided about prolactin levels just made me curious about your situation, if you dont mind sharing.

      @@HoneeyBee3 I feel like msm did this to me, because I was fine before. Prior to me taking it I read on a forum about how msm messed up other peoples cycles. I foolishly thought that that wouldn’t happen to me. Out of no where my period just stopped. My prolactin was super high. The doctor prescribed me cabergoline. After about 1 month of taking it, it came back.

    Chileee I don’t trust vitamins enough to eat them daily. I’m a medical student and people should just eat proper meals- nothing can replace that.

      That's so true. My mom has always sworn by her vitamins though. Since I've left home, I've taken to like iron supplements. But, I can't say if it actually works lol

      omg i KNOW like i feel like u should only take daily vitamins if it's a crucial thing (like if someone has a severe citrus allergy & can only get their vitamin c that way) or if ur like pushing 80+ years old lol. otherwise the most trustworthy thing is just literally eating real food

      That is true to an extent. No matter how well I eat my iron and vitamin d3 are always low. I thank God someone had the mind enough to put these things in supplements for me to take to keep me optimally healthy.

    I have been taking MSM now for almost a month for an autoimmune disease and it has literally been a saving grace for me it was hard for me to even get out of the bed daily and now I'm up with so much less pain and I have a love for life again after 3 years of being sick so idk what happen in your case but maybe you are allergic in some way that is possible. Not everything works for everybody and If something doesn't work for you then definitely stay away from it forsure but as for ne it's crazy how much it's helping me omgosh its a night and day turn around Thank the Lord also my hair is thickening and growing already its crazy

    That is so sad, I love the Organic Sulfur I feel that it has really helped me but I'm only a month in. Also you can be just feeling the negative shift in the world that is happening. I'm truly a happy person but there are days where I don't want to get out of bed & I have to make the decision to feel happy so on those days I don't check my social media or the news and I focus on my mental health, mediate, shit cry if I have too and let that out, listen to 528 hz music, stretch, take a bath while listening to an uplifting podcast. You did your research but it just wasn't for you but people that have illness in their life this stuff is a miracle :)

      You made some points! It worked for you, and it had worked miracles for others.. just not me and thats fine. To your point, the world is too difficult right now to be risking my health for hair growth. We need all the mental strength we can get.
      I wish you all the best in these difficult times 🤞🏾🤎

    I buy sulphur powder and mix it with vaseline or coconut oil. Not for growth but it helps so much with my dermatitis. It still stinks but maybe not like sulfur 8. I don't have a problem washing it out but I use sulfate shampoos. I only smell it on my head if I sweat.

    Simone when i tried msm i was sneezing a lot. I was also getting headaches back to back. I was told to start out with 1/8 th of a teaspoon then use that amount for a week. Then use 1/4 th of a teaspoon then graduate to a teaspoon. For citrus i used cold water with 3 lemons squeezed in it. Like a jar of water. Try for yourself about the citrus part. You also need to drink lots of water when u use msm. A lot of people dont know this
