Brellas are a key stone species, like the wolves in Yellowstone, Nintendo kicked them out the park, and their prey, shooters started eating the grass, which in splatoon’s case, that’s EVERY other gosh darn weapon
Splatanas are such a great design for an aggressive, flexible weapon that can really showcase all the movement options in this game, while still having some clear weaknesses in their awkwardness at dealing with weapons that have closed on them to just outside of melee range (both with vertical slashes being very hard to hit as someone circles around you and slower kill times than other weapons if they can't change the situation up). The fact that they are so fun is undoubtedly a huge factor in competitive players being willing to push these weapons as hard as they're getting pushed. I don't see enough people throwing the ultra stamp. Literally all you need to do to throw off an ultra stamp player chasing you is hide behind a wall and kill them as soon as they pass.
Very cool to hear all the praise for Wiper, since it's absolutely the Splatana I wanna learn of the two (I do eventually want to learn both but starting with Wiper). I learned a few new things about it from this video and can't wait to try em out! (also dear lord Nintendo, what did Brella ever do to you??? I miss this weapon, man)
Pre video I already know the top slosher will be machine but with tri nouveau coming out I have a strong feeling it'll be on the rise especially for stupid aggresive teams
As a bloblobber main, I understand the struggle. I feel the bloblobber was designed to be a support and inking weapon. Also, at least the way I play, I try to get high up where someone cant easily kill me, and I drop blobs below. The main issue is chargers that can just snipe us. God forbid that we get matched against the Z + F Splat charger. Gives me shivers. 😖
Bloblobber is more midline, stand too far back your shots are predictable, to close then you're pretty vulnerable. It's best to double team with it since you're pretty much more of a stage hazard so supporting with chip to combo off your team is good.
Also a Blob main 🫧 I also understand the struggle lol.. once you vibe with its unique play style & how/where/when to aim you can wreak havoc whilst causing panic & confusion.
As a luna blaster main, I prefer the neo kit over the vanilla kit due to an increase to mobility. I never really used the zipcaster due to a higher chance of getting splatted, but I use the ultra hammer as more of a projectile to splat a backliner or to force them to reposition, so that way I can help my team get a chance to rush the enemy team.
I am absolutely dying for a new reeflux kit. This weapon held back by curling so much it doesn’t have the tools to take out the weapons that counter it well with curling. I could see this weapon becoming really strong if it gets a good sub and some main weapon buffs. Currently this weapon just underpowered and struggles in the current meta which sucks especially with the missle nerfs (even if they were for better). As a die hard reeflux enthusiast I hope they give the weapon the buffs that it needs so that it can fit its role as a primarily supportive chip damage weapon that can switch into a quick scary killer when it needs Also one big thing they should do for both stringers is have full chargers always paint a clean line, idk why they both have this weakness it is kind of unnecessary and limits their aggro potential a lot
with a lot of questionable kits i can kind lf see the justification even if it doesnt work in practice, like cooler on pencil is bad but i can see wanting to give cooler to a backline that wants strafe speed naturally. with reeflux i have no clue why they would give it curling bomb, there is negative synergy in all facets. my only theory is they were afraid giving missiles to a new weapon would break the game and preemptively nerfed it with its sub.
@@critttler They gave it Curling to improve its mobility. Its ability to paint in front of it is really bad, so Curling Bomb lets it get around much easier. It's designed to synergize with its lightweight mobility and charge hold.
Yea yea the idea behind curling is 100% valid and honestly should work but curling is just stupidly expensive for what it does it’s 70% of an ink tank for a line lmao
I would suggest making Sprinkler a lot cheaper to throw out. Before when Sprinklers didn't decay, it made sense why they were expensive, since you could leave it to get value for a long time. Now that it decays though, you no longer just throw it and leave it, you usually want to throw one, and then leave it for like 10 seconds and then throw another one. Making it cost around 50% of your ink tank instead of the current 75% would help a lot in being able to throw it out more often without compromising your ink tank. For Point Sensor, I would honestly just add a Respawn Punisher effect to the location, so if the located opponent is splatted, they get Respawn Punished. This would make it counter aggressive opponents by making them not only unable to hide, but also punished more for dying.
I started using the undercover brella out of curiosity because everyone says it's horrible and I've been really enjoying it! I'm playing just as aggressively as I do with the splatana wiper, even in anarchy. I now use it out of fun and to spite everyone and raise its star level.
So hoping for Snipewriter buffs, it's probably my favorite charger in the game. Also brellas just as a class. Honestly more of my mains are at the bottom than I'd like to admit
Yeah it’s sad that snipewriter got a sub to farm for a special it really doesn’t need. Also some of my mains are on the bottom tier too so don’t feel bad lol.
When it comes to the splatana wiper is definitely my favorite in fresh season. I get more use out of it than stamper because how fast it is. But ultra stamp sucks. But I was a new splatana kit desperately same for stringer.
That's a shame, the Brellas are only good in Salmon Run at this point, and even then they can't block Flyfish and Steelheads consistently. Really hope they get new kits and buffs soon.
@@vincentngo3409 Maybe Splash Wall with Wave Breaker on Tenta Brella, Burst Bomb with Kraken Royale on Undercover Brella, and Suction Bomb with Big Bubbler or Booyah Bomb on Splat Brella.
@@ismaelswaggie5564 imo for splat brella, i would find toxic mist and zipcaster (wave breaker would prolly be better) interesting. Toxic mist is cheap and works with brella like no other weapon. Preventing ppl from maneuvering you and giving you an easier time blocking their shots For zip, well its might not be great BUT, you block shots and shield your landing
Reminder to everyone, this only really matters in high level gameplay. If you're just a normal person that plays Splatoon, feel free to play any weapons you like
I'm scared of what will happen if Tetras get a good kit. If it's already being played regularly at top level with a horrible kit, it's going to be insane if it gets a kit that works well with the main weapon.
I'm so glad I decided to pick up h.splatling right before the valentines splatfest, it just feels like that right combination of long range enough to stay out of "muh meta pick" weapons and the points for special feels just right with its output. It's also super fun in all modes I've played it in
As a former vroller main who decided to try wiper and is now maining it, I 100% agree. Both splatanas are really strong right now, but the fact wiper is the best ultra stamp weapon and can still function well with one of the least powerful specials is crazy. The main weapon is amazing, if the second kit is better it'll just be insane
Honestly these videos have actually worked wonders for me for playing splatoon 3 because not only does this tell me like what other weapons are best for each class but a lot of your videos have given me a much better idea on how most of these weapons function as well as make me realize just how much I actually really love the splatanas cause that is my favorite weapon class to use! I still have a whole lot to learn if I wanna actually step foot into higher ranks but still, thank you so much for great info and keep up the great work with your videos, I have really enjoyed watching them! 👍
you should do this same video every couple of seasons so that you can make a sort of "living document" archiving the balance history of splatoon 3. then when the game is done you could make a retrospective summarizing the whole history of this game. make these a playlist!
There’s a pair of videos talking about the history of the Rapids and the Sloshers (the regular one). Not entirely the same but I wanted to throw that out there
Hard agree on snipewriter being the worst right now, but the day we get a good kit, us snipewriter mains will shine!! Though for now i have swapped back to zekkofin for a while...lol One good thing about snipewriter though that i have experienced, is the matching system. Snipewriter isnt classed as a "long-range sniper" despite it having virtually the same range as splatterscope. This is honestly deserved, and is a huuuge help in solo Q because that means you will get matched against stuff like squiffers and bamboo, while very rarely will you face an enemy e-liter or splat charger variant. This is what ive experienced even in X-rank, or maybe especially so due to the different matching system. Because of this, youre likely to be one of the longest range weapons in the lobby, and will have an easier time without being pressured by a longer range charger!
It’s so funny, now that it has been a while since this video has been posted, that Snipewriter absolutely shook the meta, after Crab was taken down and more Tacticooler, Snipewriter became one of the best weapons in the game
It's a shame the Aerospray Mg is so low, and i can only agree, because it's one special away from being decent A fast turfing weapon with a great sub like the fizzy can work fine but the aerospray is all about its special and reefslider is just terrible right now
I'm just outright curious right now. If Sploosh is the worst of the short-range shooters, what gives Aerospray MG a niche better than Sploosh. It can't fight really well and the special is not only the worst, but just doesn't fit the role correctly. So what makes it slightly better than Sploosh? :/
Prolly special spam and safer paint due to better range, playing a more supportive painter for their team much better than sploosh can with its sh*t kits. Ultrastamp has good synergy with it but curling is 🤢 We dont talk about neo sploosh
What really sucks is that while you can and should “play whatever weapon you want” you really can’t. If your weapon is too weak or doesn’t paint enough, ink efficiency, etc, it does NOT work well in competitive play. For example, If you like something like mini splatling, or even splattershot nova, its almost IMPOSSIBLE to use them in comp play unless you have good teammates with either meta, or weapons with a lot of pros, since there are just so many other weapons that are stronger, faster, paint more, and other things. It’s just really sad
I love the wiper so much, the way it plays and moves, it's existence has made me try seriously to get better at this game. I just wish ultra stamp could work more consistently, I've directly stamped people before and the game acts like nothing happened and I die for it. I feel like I can never get anything out of stamp beyond doing the air swing for panic trades against a wall, or tossing it against booyahs and crabs, it might as well be a big burst bomb.
Stamp is a pain to get any value out of, the best thing I’ve found is throwing it at people (specifically rollers as I’m a mini main) who are getting too close to you or moving back liners.
@@Walmartviolist Yeah for real, using it the intended way with the stamping mode is pretty much always suicide, I just treat it like a single trizooka shot instead.
we def need an alt for tristringer that can do literally anything on Flounder. i feel so powerful and important on most stages as my team's back line of defense, but on Flounder i just feel like a wet tissue.
6:33 when me and my friend saw the big swig for the first time in the trailers we immediately were like "this is gonna be the aerospray of rollers" and I was correct
You know I've been thinking about the light tetras recently and I thought since the bomber launchers aren't in the game, why not give it super chump? could be a useful way to help get in, certainly better than reef slider.
@The OG splash down? Better than the reef slider? I know the reef slider isn't good, but atleast it can get itself off instead of being shot out of the air lmao
@The OG as someone who dabbles alot in the tetra I know your pain, but I'm just happy I can start the reef slider away from the fight and then go in with it, instead of flying up in the air like a flying target lmao Reef slider does really need to break bombs though, and being able to use it during super jump would be sick too
@@TheKusa5 Reefslider needs an automatic dodge roll. The fact that you turn into a stationary target for half a second means that anyone who survives the 60-damage blast gets a massive advantage.
While wiper is a purely better version of tetras (my main), I don't play it. My main issue with it is that it's ink efficiency feels horrible. It feels like I'm forced to use lde or sub saver. To be fair, that would probably feel better as I play and get used to the weapon.
Tbh it's not very ink hungry, it's pretty lenient and has comparable ink-recovery lag to shooters which is pretty unnoticeable. Maybe you spam torpedo at the wrong time unable to follow up with the combo(ink management problem) or I just play too much tent.
@@hansleano6629 I have been playing shooters a lot more lately (because Nintendo refuses to add new kits to any other class), so I guess I'm too used to the very high ink efficiency of shooters. Though honestly, everything feels like it has worse ink efficiency in this game compared to splatoon 2.
@@meta4240 Probably cuz the viable weapons in 2 are shooters and nerfed competition of others to the ground(brella efficiency and damage). There's also a slight chance they might nerf ink-efficiency of stamper cuz it has minimal down time.
Next patch: .52 gal now more range, Splattershot gets a paint buff. .96 gets a paint buff, machine 230p and another 10% less ink efficient, splash 210p, brella deals only 70 damage when hitting all pellets, crab lasts one second less but special power up is better
I'd phrase it more as "every weapon can win games but some will be fighting against you while some will work with you" or "some will hold you back more than others"
@@apersonwhomayormaynotexist9868Reminder: There's a difference between competitive team synergy vs. solo queue (even playing with your non-pro friends)
One of my stupidest hopes is that if we get a new and different Splatana, I hope on gods tallest beard hair that it has a goofy ahh charge slash, traveling that of something in-between tetras or jet squelchers dodge roll. 13:37 I like how he splatted “Hakuna” and “Matata” in that order
Really hope we get a better kit in the future. Probably with splash wall
Bloblobber is more midline, stand too far back your shots are predictable, to close then you're pretty vulnerable. It's best to double team with it since you're pretty much more of a stage hazard so supporting with chip to combo off your team is good.
@@hansleano6629 alrighty. Thanks for the tips! I’ll be sure to use these in matches!
Also a Blob main 🫧
I also understand the struggle lol.. once you vibe with its unique play style & how/where/when to aim you can wreak havoc whilst causing panic & confusion.
As a die hard reeflux enthusiast I hope they give the weapon the buffs that it needs so that it can fit its role as a primarily supportive chip damage weapon that can switch into a quick scary killer when it needs
Also one big thing they should do for both stringers is have full chargers always paint a clean line, idk why they both have this weakness it is kind of unnecessary and limits their aggro potential a lot
with a lot of questionable kits i can kind lf see the justification even if it doesnt work in practice, like cooler on pencil is bad but i can see wanting to give cooler to a backline that wants strafe speed naturally. with reeflux i have no clue why they would give it curling bomb, there is negative synergy in all facets. my only theory is they were afraid giving missiles to a new weapon would break the game and preemptively nerfed it with its sub.
Reeflux has serious potential. It is very easy to hit a 90, which kills a lot of the time, any chip means u ded
I’m so so sorry. Wall, reefslider wasn’t what you were hoping for.
Really hoping for the day that giving a weapon sprinkler or point sensor isn't a direct nerf to it
I would suggest making Sprinkler a lot cheaper to throw out.
@@babywizard9027 Can't wait for splattershot nova meta
@@babywizard9027 i dont wanna get respawned punished and not play the game for longer, and yeah cheaper sprinkler means i can use it for movement
I like when you start to talk about the swords, the metal gear rising music kicks in.
metal gear rising ost for the splatanas hmm, *ahh i see you're a man of culture as well*
I can't even describe in words the absolute beauty of choosing a MGR song as bgm for the Splatana section
Can I just say the music choices were off the charts today? Ogre and jet stream sam??? Whoever picked the music job well done!
When it comes to the splatana wiper is definitely my favorite in fresh season. I get more use out of it than stamper because how fast it is. But ultra stamp sucks. But I was a new splatana kit desperately same for stringer.
I never realized how hype splatoon gameplay could get when paired with mgr boss themes
As a stamper and wiper main from the beginning I see this as absolute win
That's a shame, the Brellas are only good in Salmon Run at this point, and even then they can't block Flyfish and Steelheads consistently. Really hope they get new kits and buffs soon.
What kit would u give brellas
@@vincentngo3409 Maybe Splash Wall with Wave Breaker on Tenta Brella, Burst Bomb with Kraken Royale on Undercover Brella, and Suction Bomb with Big Bubbler or Booyah Bomb on Splat Brella.
@@ismaelswaggie5564 imo for splat brella, i would find toxic mist and zipcaster (wave breaker would prolly be better) interesting. Toxic mist is cheap and works with brella like no other weapon. Preventing ppl from maneuvering you and giving you an easier time blocking their shots
For zip, well its might not be great BUT, you block shots and shield your landing
Reminder to everyone, this only really matters in high level gameplay. If you're just a normal person that plays Splatoon, feel free to play any weapons you like
can’t wait to help my comp team win w/ my undercover brella🫶
carbon roller is said to be weak but the way i play it, it's absolutely insane
@@rowans.corner
My umbrella comp is screwed🫶
1 year into the future: 8:01 uuuhhhh……..
I'm scared of what will happen if Tetras get a good kit.
If it's already being played regularly at top level with a horrible kit, it's going to be insane if it gets a kit that works well with the main weapon.
Same with Wiper, if Ultra Stamp ever becomes even a decent, functional special, Wiper will rise up the ranks like crazy.
Bro really played MGRR for the Splatana section. What a legend
Imagine a Splatana Wiper with Splat Bomb + Kraken.
Brilliant video once again! Love the MGR music at the end.
current salmon run rotation is big swig, goo tuber, aerospray and mini splatling. with hororboros. good luck guys lol
8:02 womp womp
you should do this same video every couple of seasons so that you can make a sort of "living document" archiving the balance history of splatoon 3. then when the game is done you could make a retrospective summarizing the whole history of this game. make these a playlist!
from 1.0 to 10.0 : crab tank meta splash-o-matic is the best weapon and will never be surpassed … this was a cool video go next
There’s a pair of videos talking about the history of the Rapids and the Sloshers (the regular one). Not entirely the same but I wanted to throw that out there
Hard agree on snipewriter being the worst right now, but the day we get a good kit, us snipewriter mains will shine!! Though for now i have swapped back to zekkofin for a while...lol
One good thing about snipewriter though that i have experienced, is the matching system.
8:00 didn’t age well lol
Manifesting brella class buffs copium (The devs will make it worse with more bugs)
Your first video on this at the beginning of S3 is wild. We did NOT know the meta then.
the "press right stick to die" tier for the reefslider lol
Funny how splatana is so good that the “worst” weapon in the class is arguably top 5 weapons of all time
Can’t wait for Snipewriter to get a better kit. I found the main weapon itself to be quite fun.
I have 4 stars on Snipewriter, it's my favorite charger but I can feel how hard the kit is holding it back
It’s so funny, now that it has been a while since this video has been posted, that Snipewriter absolutely shook the meta, after Crab was taken down and more Tacticooler, Snipewriter became one of the best weapons in the game
13:39 it says “splatted hakuna, splatted matata”
Im surprised no one else saw this
Glad we got the update. Great video!
It's a shame the Aerospray Mg is so low, and i can only agree, because it's one special away from being decent
A fast turfing weapon with a great sub like the fizzy can work fine
but the aerospray is all about its special and reefslider is just terrible right now
Agreed, it needs a good special to paint for, like tacticooler, or perhaps give it burst bomb with kraken.
Ultrastamp has good synergy with it but curling is 🤢
We dont talk about neo sploosh
Bro logi timed the music in the splatana section so well
And it’s mgrr
Madlad used Ridge Racer music in this video. I approve
We need more stringers, it’s been 6 months and we still have only two stringers
we def need an alt for tristringer that can do literally anything on Flounder. i feel so powerful and important on most stages as my team's back line of defense, but on Flounder i just feel like a wet tissue.
6:33 when me and my friend saw the big swig for the first time in the trailers we immediately were like "this is gonna be the aerospray of rollers" and I was correct
The music choice, especially MGR for the splatanas, is just mashaAllah
thank you for the MGR music during the splatana section, classic sword W
You know I've been thinking about the light tetras recently and I thought since the bomber launchers aren't in the game, why not give it super chump? could be a useful way to help get in, certainly better than reef slider.
@The OG splash down?
Better than the reef slider?
I know the reef slider isn't good, but atleast it can get itself off instead of being shot out of the air lmao
@The OG as someone who dabbles alot in the tetra I know your pain, but I'm just happy I can start the reef slider away from the fight and then go in with it, instead of flying up in the air like a flying target lmao
Reef slider does really need to break bombs though, and being able to use it during super jump would be sick too
@@TheKusa5 Reefslider needs an automatic dodge roll.
There's also a slight chance they might nerf ink-efficiency of stamper cuz it has minimal down time.
wipers are so privileged. Tent and splat brella run out of ink in 5 shots and takes until death to recover ink
Hearing Mgr boss themes for the splatanas was sick
10/10 song to end on whilst talking about splatanas
watching Splatoon content then 18:24 IS THAT MF RED SUN
red sun + the only thing i know for real in the background of splatanas... i see you
Absolutely love your music choices
The wiper is an extremely strong main weapon, and I'm interested in seeing how buffs to the stamp will shift the meta
Next patch: .52 gal now more range, Splattershot gets a paint buff. .96 gets a paint buff, machine 230p and another 10% less ink efficient, splash 210p, brella deals only 70 damage when hitting all pellets, crab lasts one second less but special power up is better
YOOOOO thank you for making this, I was waiting for an updated list YOU ARE MY 2ND FAV RUclipsR
I researched your old version 3 and am so glad you made an updated one 😸
Nice music choices for the Splatanas section.
Most Weapons: We have a clear best and worst, with maybe a few that are second for the respective positions
Wipers: We have good and really good.
Brellas: We have bad, really bad, and downright horrible.
Reminder: every weapon can be played well, some just take alot more effort to play.
I just had a revelation: give undercover brella kraken and splat bomb/torpedo.
Weapon fixed.
Funny how I watched the stone ages lore video where gal deco was the strongest weapon yesterday!
I've been kinda falling out with this game but I still love this kind of content!
It's always a good day when ProChara uploads
Loved that the mgr music started playing as soon as the splatanas appeared on screen lmao
One of my stupidest hopes is that if we get a new and different Splatana, I hope on gods tallest beard hair that it has a goofy ahh charge slash, traveling that of something in-between tetras or jet squelchers dodge roll. The normal splatanas only physically move the player like 3 players distance forward after a charge slash, which isn’t that much honestly. Imagine being able to close the distance between something like a splash with incredible feet and terrain paint and say “lol no” and kill them in like under a second from a mile away *like team fortress 2 demoknight*
Chara: Brellas are in the exact same spot as before, that’s just sad.

I still mainly use the Hydra Splatling. I started trying out the Squeezer and I like it. I will be trying out new weapons based on this list and what I want to play. It’s a great video, great job Chara!
as someone who loves to play weapons that are not even close to the meta, i love the way you talk abt weapons here and cover the positive of weapons that are usually regarded as total trash by others (i love u gootuber even if i’m the only gootuber player on earth)
