Two things I have to say about this topic:
    1. I had the delightful opportunity to pickup Dr. Jordan Peterson in 2018 from the London Heathrow Airport and drop him at his hotel in London. With Dr. Peterson I had the most amazing conversation for more than two hours because: a) Being from Romania he was very interested about the years I lived in communism and how I end up living in the UK. b) I had no idea at that moment who Dr. Peterson was.
After we said goodbye in front of his hotel I've googled his name but the shock came next day when RUclips recommended me his videos and the famous interview with Cathy Newman.
Dr. Jordan Peterson is a such a wonderful and humble person and he has my gratitude for life for helping me understand the wrong things I've done in my life and to fix it and to make peace with me and the world for a better future.
    2. I had the same delightful opportunity to pick up Jimmy Carr from a BBC tv show in London in 2019 and drop him home.
He is the nicest, coolest and clever guy I ever met. Totally different from what you see on the stage.

''the opposite of addiction isn't sobriety ; it's purpose'' -Jimmy Carr and Jordan Peterson
I sat down 4 days before this video came out. I spent a couple of hours and mapped out what I wanted for my life. I've since stopped two nearly life long addiction WITHOUT EFFORT, where as before I could barely last two days. Funny that I stumbled upon this quote. It is true, and the biggest revelation of my life so far.
When you take the time to produce a believable, precise vision of what your life could be, your urges to continue harmful habits will crash on a wall of steel.

For a long time I've struggled with going to bed and getting up in the mornings, or wanting to do anything. I'd lie in bed with the laptop on my stomach, knowing that I can't face God at the end of my life. But I am catching glimpses of what it was like as a child.

He's wonderfully, refreshingly - courageously even - honest, especially when he speaks so articulately about the impact of his mother's death on his entire being. That's hard to do for most of us. However, "unexamined" was a word that came up in this conversation, though in a very general sense.

Generally all it takes is having some basic decency, respect for others and a modicum of common sense imo
Combine that with keeping an open mind and not thinking that your opinion is per definition better than others and you have the ingredients for some very interesting conversations

Carr's brand is dark and offensive humor, if this is not your cup of tea that's totally ok, just don't go to the show. It's a problem when people who aren't going to the show, wants to change the show for the ones that enjoy it.

Yeah I've always noticed that as well. As others have pointed out, since they're some of the only people speaking actual truth to power (as opposed to virtue signaling) they inherently tend to be people allergic to bullshit, and able to pick up on some of what's really going on, not to mention a defiant, courageous- especially in male comics- streak of a slightly cynical "ohh yeah? If that's how you feel, prove it. You can't? Well effff you then" pattern of behavior that I think is not just healthy but in reality very important. imo.
Love this conversation regardless! The european comedic scene, even compared to america, is suuuuuper politically correct, whiny, and so left leaning that it makes SNL look like trump's twitter lmao so that's why I was so grateful and glad to see jimmy not only speak out against some of their behaviors, but exhibit- thankfully- that he's not as "woke" as most of the others pretend to be

We all feel we need the voices of truth but mostly wisdom...you not just a great father figure for young men but all ....the conversations you have are so generous and genuine 💕 I loved you ask such beautiful questions that open people's hearts and things you never knew about them ....like Jimmy's mums narcolepsy (personality this is the reason I think he became a comedian nothings more funny that making your auntie with it laugh so much she collapses in her food...once on a bicycle..Got a right telling off that time).
The fact that Jimmy answered his favourite comedians and one was Shawn Lock was so heart warming Shawn in my eyes will always be the comedians comedian.

Although many would not expect this pairing, it really makes perfect sense. Jimmy Carr says things that many would not, as does Jordan Peterson. They both offer few to no apologies unless there is an honest mea culpa with no connection to phony media pressure. They both skillfully elaborate arguments that confound dogmatic ideologies. Apart from Dave Chapelle, Joe Rogan, and a few others, there aren't many big names putting themselves out there like this. And it's not left or right; these people cover the spectrum of reasonable thinking. Reasonable thinking. Just saying.
