@@kenbulut-oe8sb He doesn't really answer her question on why women (and some girls when married from a young age) have historically taken the husband's surname...This is an important question and really does explain the transference of the notion of 'ownership' of males over females in many ways; although some could argue it's a transference of 'responsibility to provide and protect' rather than 'ownership' as such. However, this concept of provide and protect obviously hasn't been the scenario for countless teenage girls and women who have found themselves trapped - physically and economically - in violent and abusive marriages without any financial means out. He avoids this question by saying he doesn't really know, which seems a bit of a cop out as it should really be a topic/fact (as in the factual evidence of women historically taking their husband's surname) one would expect him to have reflected on more... Also her comment on property rights - obviously many men as well as all women didn't have access to property ownership and certain associated rights (including enfranchisement) for a long time (in post-agricultural revolution and industrialised societies, at least), yet certain socio-economic groups of men did achieve enfranchisement and certain ownership legal rights prior to women (including access to mortgage as well as property ownership) - surely this can't be ignored as a form of historical dominance and control of one sex over the other?

1:30:47 the comments have already pointed out that GQ cut out one of his responses and gave him a lower quality microphone among other things, but this is probably the funniest attempt at painting him in a bad picture. They amplified his mic volume in post because they thought it would make him seem more guilty. On top of that, they make sure to zoom in on his face every time he conveys anything remotely damning, whereas in the 50 instances where she expresses defeat her face is never zoomed on once.
Yup, the propaganda war that various government agencies and globally sponsored think tanks are fighting in the public domain is incredibly real. Unfortunately it’s also unlike what they would wish everyone to believe incredibly easy to spot.
My favourite thing is identifying the NPC bot shills in the comment section here they stand out like a sore thumb and it’s like they’re not even trying anymore !

The first time I watched Jordan Peterson a few years ago I dismissed him as 'an angry man with mislead views'. How wrong I was... I hadn't taken the time to really listen to him and also understand his brilliant, witty sense of humour.
He is intelligent, wise, insightful and witty beyond imagination. Thank you Dr. Peterson for giving me deep insights into what it means to be human in all its vast facets and how to show up, and the importance of taking full responsibility for your life 🙏🏻
Has Peterson ever said anything that you didn't know already?
@@psychcowboy1 that's the catch, the West woke ideologists are shaping the common sense views so radically that common sense must be taught again.
@psychcowboy1 Most definitely and even more important but words to a lot of things that I have been feeling but couldn't articulate. Also very important reminder for a lot of things I indeed already knew but had forgotten. Equally important.
@@paulresnick9593 JP said something you didn't know already, or outsmarted Helen Lewis? What?
@@psychcowboy1 this cck scker has been commenting for 3 years hahahah what a noob! Is your name Helen?! hahahaha
1:19:36 What I really like about this video is, there are two individuals with very different opinions in some areas, but similar in others. Both are incredibly articulate and intelligent, but they come from different places and with different perspectives. The conversation that they have gets heated in places and they disagree but in other parts you can see that they respect each other for their own opinions even though they are vastly different.
We should want our strongest characters (Jordan Peterson) to be tested! It demonstrates the strength of the best in our society.
peterson builds his belief in capitalism on a false premise, that being the hierarchies of capitalism are based on competence, he is wrong.
the hierarchies of capitalism are pyramid /\ shaped, while
every natural hierarchy of competence is a bell curve, with few at the top and bottom and the majority in the MIDDLE.
/\ pyramid hierarchies are artificial and integral to capitalism/profit, there has to be a very large base in a capitalist hierarchy in order for profit to be generated, profit is not possible in a natural bell curve hierarchy.
@@Flyweight.8you’re wrong. And capitalism is far better than any other system ever devised, it has fed and housed and clothed and healed and educated and liberated more people than any other system ever. You’re not smart enough to do better. You do not understand human nature or nature nature.
Competence is absolutely the driving force.

Thank you Jordan Peterson for having this interview, I learned a lot
JP is on another level
His ability to pinpoint globalist rhetorical obsequious ideological propaganda and counterpoint it with laserlike accuracy is phenomenal to watch, but it’s sad that it needs to be done. It’s sad that these organisations feel the need to fill the public sector with propaganda and socially engineered. Psychologically targeted garbage, it’s screwing up societies, destroying lives and above all, it’s an incredibly dangerous game that’s being played, especially by the intelligence sector who should know better by now!

IMO, Jordan is not at his best here (or maybe it was edited to appear that way), sometimes interrupting, angry?, making some unqualified statements. Helen often showing more patience. But if the topics here are of some interest, maybe watch some other Peterson like: ruclips.net/video/zQCTeGKHsVc/видео.html or ruclips.net/video/hKUffHXOb8U/видео.html
This is SUCH a brilliant discussion. Thank goodness he is spreading the word and standing up for men and women. How great would it be for more of these conversations to take place.
52:48 show us the edit. We all know what JP said absolutely demolished her idea at this moment and it would destroy her career if it got out. He was on a roll
100%, clearly he dismantled her here and they removed to save her career
Jordan went into that meet with her, knowing exactly how to respond, how much emotion to curtail and express, and exactly the correct answer or assertiveness to embody. It's a master class. Congratulations, Jordan Peterson.

So odd. What did you see that I didn’t. I saw an intellectual debate . And I really enjoyed that. What did you see?
It’s hard to argue with someone who has already thought everything through to the end.
Its nice to see so many women saying positive things about him in the comments
The world is waking up to several problems of the past 2 decades that have been cancer to all of us:
1.) Social Media induced attention-seeking millennial junkies all chasing validation and dopamine kicks.
2.) Rabid Modern Feminism gone mad, trying to destroy all pillars of a functional society.
3.) Narcissistic Sociopaths that normally follow 1 and 2.

It's particularly straight women as opposed to the alphabet soup which that woman is a part of.
What a fascinating conversation. Quite intriguing it is to feel the temperature fluctuations throughout their intellectual dance. Additionally, I hold Jordan Peterson in very high regards but he was savage in this conversation with Helen Lewis. The ability of either of these individuals to maintain a professional composure during their debate is an immensely difficult task to do. Both Peterson and Lewis deserve applause for their self-control. If both politicians and society in general, were able to maintain a similar level of self-control and professionalism, perhaps the integration of systems to foster a greater understanding of, and wellbeing for, all parties could be achieved. These two are absolutely amongst the best of us humans.
He has the gift and skill of articulation.

This video was put out 5 years ago and now in 2023, Identity politics are just spreading like wildfire especially in the university scene, freedom of speech is under threat. Jordan Peterson was spot on about it. Listening to him calms my mind.
It can be quite discouraging to see how identity politics are spreading. But I think people are waking up and realising how bad it is getting. I have hope for the future.
