Jimmy Carr was the best "working on bits" guest I've heard. Really quick wits, really thinking hard about how the joke should work, and genuinely useful advice. Also love how on Sam's bit he pointed out how he doesn't think he helped at all
If you're gonna nerd out about comedy this is how you do it. One of my favourite episodes. The introspective conversations about dark jokes quoting Joan Rivers. Lowkey this is some of my favourite philosophy on the internet. "You say never forget. This is how I remember." What a line
Jimmy Carr telling Sam to do that joke about how he's running for office in the Middle East was a god send! I saw Sam in Sydney 2 days ago and he did that bit. IT KILLED.
The segment where they analyze bits they're working on was gold, you never see comics really break down their bits like that and work on them in real time, awesome.
Mark relentlessly pursuing a laugh is one of the best things to watch. He’s the archetype for learning to just go for it and not being scared what other people might think
Jimmy is a great guest, coming with real enthusiasm and a great vibe. But him giving mark absolutely nothing after every joke has me cracking up 😭 some of these quips are gold and Jimmy gives them a few beats and moves on without so much as an exhale
@@Humma_Kavulaeh, he laughed at the “that’s a lot of feces”, but still, Jimmy has done thousands of hours on panel shows where everyone is constantly looking for the funniest joke. Podcast settings are more conversational so it’s easy mode for him.

Got the Bodega flowin tonight. Fresh off of seeing Phil Hanley at the Den this past Friday. What a treat. My wife and I were front row center and immediately got the crowd work our way. Made me the heel for the rest of the show and swooned over my wife. It was great. He even brought her on stage for his final bit. Then he came out between shows for pictures and meet and greet. Said she did awesome. What a guy.

Oh my lord I'm so friggin excited to listen to this I almost wanna save it for my work day tomorrow. But I won't be able to. Jimmy Carr has been hitting all the pod's lately and I've loved every episode he's been on - so god damn charming and funny.

In the last few episodes Sam has been naming a movie and every time I write it down and watch it later that night. There always such good movies that I just watch whatever Mark and Sam tell me too. Bullets Over Broadway and House of Games are on the list so far. Sweet and Lowdown on deck.
On Modafinil: Modafinil's side effects include headaches, anxiety, and nausea. Serious side effects in high doses include delusions, unfounded beliefs, paranoia, irrational thought, and transient depression, possibly due to its effects on dopamine receptors in the brain, as well as allergic reactions. The amount of medication used should be adjusted in those with kidney problems, as this medication has markedly increased side effects during renal insufficiency.
Jimmy gets annoyingly philosophical when he is trying to make a point, kinda like Joe Rogan, but he cracked him a couple of times right there at the end.,
The dog is getting all the jokes and keeps giving Mark the side eye, he finally roused up onto his front paws in agreement when Jimmy said boredom is under rated lol
Also I love how Jimmy talks about the different laughs as if he's a serial killer getting different screams. . . The dedication to comedy as a craft in this podcast is bonechillingly refreshing. 😂
I felt for Mark at first for giving it the beans and getting nothing then i realised, where is Sam's comical contribution? Jimmy held the spotlight here as the elder and rightly so. I love them all but Mark just came off as a lovely hang in this one.
