His two female backup singers were stuck in traffic and didn't make the show so the band members tried their best to sing the backup vocals.

Woodstock was a cultural touchstone that started as a music festival offering "Three days of peace and music." and exploded into half a million people spread over a farmer's fields in 1969.
Fortunately the organizers had camera crews filming most everything. That produced a movie that's worth watching.
Woodstock (named after the nearby town of Woodstock in upstate New York) was arguably the epitome of the days of drugs, love, peace and protest. As the comedian Robin Williams aptly stated, "If you remember being at Woodstock, you weren't there".

The greatest time to be alive in the United States this late 60s up until the late 70s. We had the best music, the best bands, the best concerts live.

I love his Woodstock performance, and for me, can listen to his version of " something's coming on " a few times in succession. Just magical.

I used to work with Joes uncle in Manchester [ the real Manchester in England] in the 60s. The resemblence was remarkable. We used to ask him to mime this !

Aside from this track, which is among the top 3 for me, my other 3 favorite Joe songs are Feeling Alright, I Can Handle a Little Rain, and You Are So Beautiful.

Great reaction. You say you want to see more. One of his best 'full' concerts is the Dortmund concert. It is on RUclips. Watch it all because it is perfection (both the band and him).

Joe was the white British Ray Charles vocally. The Grease Band was a respectable blues outfit but broke up shortly after Woodstock leaving Cocker without back up. In stepped Leon Russell & things really took off!
