Deep Purple - one of the greatest band of all time! Ian voice is brilliant.
Must listen to him as Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar
@@lindalou6105 Yeah, it was recorded only 3 months after this performance, as first ever recorded song of , Getshemane, long before it went live to Jesus Christ Superstar, with different singer as Jesus.
Ian Gillan, the original "Jesus Christ Superstar"... absolutely incredible vocalist.
This was when bands were bands and led the younger generation.
Deep Purple has an amazing catalog to choose from. Highway Star, Space Truckin', Fireball, Lazy, Speed King are all great songs to start with.
The crowd was apparently told to sit still because the song was being recorded.
tv show
its a song about war.. they kept their joy limited
Gillan was ...superiour...😊
Deep purple is my absolutely favorite band of all time.
England in this decade was the birth place of metal and rock
IMO one of the best line-up´s in a rock band ever.
Keyboardist Jon Lord was definitely classically trained, and wrote a 50 minute concerto for orchestra and rock group.
WOW!!! It's so cool!!!
So happy to see you react to this...GREAT REACTIONS! God Bless!
UNA DELLE PIU' GRANDI BAND HARD ROCK.
HO AVUTO IL PIACERE DI CONOSCERLI TUTTI.
HO UNA DEEP PURPLE TRIBUTE BAND,E CON PIACERE POSSO DIRE DI AVER AVUTO ALLA BATTERIA PER UNA SERATA IL GRANDE IAN PAICE.CIAO EMMA❤
Black Sabbath,Led Zeppelin,Deep Purple the holy triad of rock music🤘
And all UK bands aswell
+ Pink Floyd
130 million lps sold.1973 the biggest band in the world in gate receipts and lps sold. Also did it again in 1983 rip Jon Douglas Lord keyboards
That singer is Ian Gillan....he was the original Jesus Christ on the official soundtrack of Andrew Lloyd Weber & Tim Rice's production of Jesus Christ Superstar! The guitar god playing the solo is Ritchie Blackmore. The maestro on keyboards is the late classical composer / rock star Jon Lord. The band Deep Purple still exists after 56 years, still recording, still touring, and singer Ian Gillan is fronting it.
This is one of the few hard rock groups I enjoyed in the 60's-70's. "Smoke On The Water" is their most popular song. Everyone has heard that famous riff. Some of my favorites are their covers of Joe South's "Hush" & Neil Diamond's "Kentucky Woman". Also like "Highway Star", "Woman From Tokyo", "Lazy", "Fireball", Speed King", "Space Truckin'" etc.
The best song ever made!
Masterpiece.
Hi from Sheffield Yorkshire England yes this is 1 of our earliest and best vocalists and band he is IAN GILLAN
Uriah Heep live 1973, check this album
I love watching the reactions of this song when Ian hits the impossible A5 high note.
Richie Blackmore truly underrated. The whole band is awesome.
Top 3 in the world in his day
That's the first time I've ever seen the suggestion that Ritchie Blackmore was "underrated"...
Ritchie Blackmore has never been undervalued. He has always been well regarded.
Seldom underrated. Often under-spelled: Ri-T-chie.
❤ Deep Purple ❤
Ian was the first Jesus in "Jesus Chist Superstar".Amazing band and a few days ago they released a new single from their upcoming new album!
Great song and reaction
This song goes so absurdly HARD. Epic performance.
You are listening to one of the 3 legendary hard rock groups of the 70s, Deep Purple - Black Sabbath - Led Zeppelin, the best in the genre, I hope you will discover other hits from these geniuses, I can tell you suggest 2 others Led zeppelin "Stairway to Heaven" and Black Sabbath "War Pig" live in Paris, good listening
Emma, Thank You! Beautiful!
Thank you too! 🙏✨✨✨😁
Ian Paice is a MONSTER drummer! So damn good! They all are!
We were so lucky from the early 70s to the early 80s they are and that was the sweet spot the talant in rhe origonal band are unnatched to this day
Stopping to often !
Strange kind of woman.. live from made in Japan....You will love it.. DP at the top of the world...
Emma you sang the Aaaahhhhs really well.
Pavarotti called Gillan the greatest singer in the world.
Amazingly, everyone else in the band was on the same level.
Also, this is an early performance: THEY GOT BETTER.
Best Rock ever.😮😅 I should still experience this live in Concert in Germany
I was 11 years and we in germany had the mel sandock show in the radio. all of my friends gathered and we were dancing hidden, since our parents hated it ❤❤😁😁👍👍 just look at the audiance 😍😍
Looking forward to seeing the current line of deep purple later this year
Highway Star / Not fade Away and Woman from Tokyo were also popular Deep Purple songs.
74 years on. Seen Deep Purple 2 times. 1972 Last seen them.
Deep Purple's "Strange Kind of Woman" from the 'Made in Japan' album. The band absolutely flying.
Marvelous podcast, Emma😊 and very good explanation about the singer Ian Gillan and his band mates🙏👏👏👍 Deep Purple, one of the 3 bands, named the Godfather's in Rock... Fact. Cheers from Germany 😊🎉😂
1:10 - I love it when reactors react the way you did to those dissonant notes. It was a bold choice but they fit so well in the song. 😀
These are music icons , gods of rock in the best musical era
You can try "Burn", "Hush", "Perfect stranger", "Highway Star"...... enjoy, Emma!
His voice is crazy 😳🔥
Oh yeah!!!
Ian Gillan had a 5 and half octive voice. Also, did Jesus Christ Superstar
@@Fuxerzhad? he still has, he ain't dead yet
Ian Gillan, in my opinion, is the consummate rock singer. His power, control, pitch, range, and hitting delicate notes, are unmatched.
Highway Star, Lazy, Burn ... LOTS to choose from in THAT rabbit hole ❤
Now u know!!!!
Oh Lord!
I recommend Deep Purple 's double live album titled Made in Japan from this same time period. It's a mind blower !
She ain't gonna react to the whole damn album! Suggest a song from it...
@@CB-xr1eg How the hell do you know ? Also see my next post. I recommended Space Trukin from that album.
Ian Gillan! Love his work with Deep Purple and Black Sabbath. Dude has an incredible voice. I could listen to him sing the phone book.
Gran melodía de una de las mejores bandas del rock DEEP PURPLE POR SIEMPRE ✌️
Speed King 🔥🔥🔥
Ian Gillan's screaming, with singing is his trademark. Most people says that Deep Purple Mark II was a Golden Era of the band. Among their albums, the best one is "Made In Japan / Live In Japan". Their energetic performance is overwhelming.
There are another songs "Lazy" and "Space Truckin' " , you can hear Ian's trademark of screaming while singing (from Made In Japan / Live In Japan).
The original version of Bombay Calling was composed by Vince Wallace in 1962 and a version of it was recorded by Orkustra in 1967.
"Perfect Strangers" is a good one.
For songs that are mostly focused on his voice you can try 1. Live at the Albert Hall and 2. A song of his performance in the movie Jesus Christ Super Star. 😊thank you for the reaction! Greetz from The Netherlands.
Great Time for ROCK!!!
wore out a lot of dp tapes in the 70s,am now 70 years old,and still get a buzz, here in galway,Ireland.
Space Truckin next please!!!!
Thank you 👍👍👍
Une seule chose a dire, c est super!!!!
Nice reaction. Vocalist would have been around 25 then. Be interesting to see you react to him now, aged 78, singing a song (Portable Door) from their new album (still supported by the bassist Roger Glover and drummer Ian Paice)
The Ian Gillan singing Portable Door looks, and sounds, like this Ian's grandad.
The crowd were told to be quite because they were doing an 'Official Recording' of the song here!
For hearing it the first time it's very clever you knew exactly when the voice would start...
54 años!!!! increible!!!
You are very keen. The keyboard player was classically trained. 😊
Oh thanks!
Nice Emma, my favorit song ...
Lazy is my favorite❤
Speed King from the same TV show is one of the foundation song of Speed Metal.
Another great proto speed metal song and one of their best known is Highway Star.
Their best known song and the one riff anyone learning Guitar always try is Smoke on the Water.
For a great solo by the talented Ian Paice watch the live performance of The Mule.
Perfect strangers is one of my fav's
Try Space Trukin from the Made in Japan album
There was IRON MAIDEN/ JUDAS PRIEST/ BLACKSABATH /DEEP PURPLE/LED ZEPPELIN WHITE SNAKE /RAINBOW/THIN LIZZY /QUEEN ❤❤❤
I'd watch you react to paint drying but Deep Purple doing "Strange Kind Of Woman" live might be something to enjoy.
Hi Emma ~
Deep Purple
Excellent reaction! Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple: Sacred Triumvirate that created Heavy Metal...But undoubtedly Black Sabbath is the main band in the context of the creation of Heavy Metal...By the way, for me, Black Sabbath, especially the 70s, is the biggest band in the history of popular music in general, with an immeasurable magnitude in terms of musical influence, mainly in relation to Rock and especially in relation to Heavy Metal...Greetings from Brazil!!!
Highway star, please!❤
Welcome in The Purple Family
Highway Star!!!!!!!!
One Of Greatest Music Pieces Ever !!! 🤩
Perfect Strangers and Smoke on the water...
Made in Japan by deep purple is a great album. Live in 1972
Ian Paice was a monster on this track.
The people were told to stay quiet 🤫 cause they were recording the video 📸
☝️AAAAH! Thank you!!!
TV audiences were typically told to be quiet and hold their applause until the end of the song.
Awesome song!!!
Highway Star video next
ONE OF THE BEST BANDS IN HISTORY...CHECK OUT HIGHWAY STAR. AND BURN ...SOME OTHER GREAT SONGS FROM THIS WONDERFUL BAND
To reach the high note he went beyond his head voice and accessed his crown chakra voice.
Great reaction,, but if you want a story,,I suggest Rhyme of the Ancient mariner,, Iron Maiden 🤟🏴
Amazing
Hard for me to hear this song without thinking of Jesus Christ Superstar. Ian was the original Jesus when the rock-opera first came out as just an album. They wanted him for the 1973 movie, but Deep Purple had gotten so big by the time of filming that he wasn't able to do it because of all the touring.
you got the AAAAHHHHHAHA perfect :)
😎😂🙏🏻
thank you Emma
You're looking good today...
Looks like a school trip, everyone is terrified. lol
It seems that every guitarist, myself included, knows how to play "Smoke on the Water," yet there's an unspoken rule against playing it in guitar stores.
Hammersmith Club London 1971.
Been to their concert in Moscow back then. That was really cool.
Rockanroll!!!
