It is so interesting that your timing is so off and your dynamic needs improving but you can nail the solo at least from a technical standpoint. I feel like an idiot because I don't want to attempt the solo unless I can play the song so tight that it sounds like I'm the fucking recording lol.

No, it's a Spear Guitars Bass, just an affordable bass, but a nice one. I'm not sure Spear Guitars are even in business anymore...

How do you get that metallica tone?
Hi! Well, Amplitube Custom Shop, also, i quad track the main rhythm (what James plays), 2 tracks 100% panned left and right and another 2 panned closer (80%) or something like that, in this case with just a bit of chorus and compression. the group of tracks also have a bit of reverb and an exciter, that brings out a bit more highs and lows. As for Kirk's tone, for solos, it's more based on Marshall amps, not just Mesa boogie. If you use Amplitube, i left patches on the description anyway.

Yes, that uses the Mesa Boogie Mark IV that exists on Amplitube

Why to use 3 guitars? In chorus 2 is enough, that deep riff makes the song great.

Well, depends on the song, but, most important, listen very carefuly to the song, slow it down with software if necessary. Try to find isolated tracks of the guitars. Watch live performances of the artists and lessons that they might have given about the song. Take a look at other people covering the song, if available. Then, just use all that to figure out how to best play the song...
