Bella better get the Emmy for this episode. She was just awesome.
Joel calling Ellie “baby girl” always gets me. 😭
Me too 😪
🥰🥰
Broke me
this show is HARD to watch, now I understand when my mom and I watched movies and she cried and I didn't
It hurts everytime
Bella’s acting in this is immaculate. This show has been not only the best game adaptation, but one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. Pedro’s “baby girl” broke me
she is but tbh the actor doing David is going under the radar... he smashed this, so creepy and unsettling. it's the calmness that really does it
Troy also did great.
@@vkdeen7570 really good actor
@@Boba_Fett1980 trust only your eyes and you'll lose
Glad you noticed how much extra food David received
Said that the moment the sat down to eat his portion was massive while everyone is scraping the bowl.
who didn't?
@@44r0n-9 I didn't, I look more at the subtitles than the actual show/movie that I'm watching
also that he was getting a plate while most everyone got a bowl.. he and others in the know were not eating human while others were.
i mean makes sense, he was the one who went out to hunt, spent more energy
For anyone who has been a victim of assault I can't imagine how emotional that last scene must be
As a survivor myself I was scream-cheering on Ellie!
CSA survivor here- the scene where Ellie stabs David was incredibly cathartic for me while playing the game. Seeing a much worse David and darker scene in the show was difficult to stomach, but Bella's performance was simply incredible and just as cathartic.
For me I could feel the pure emotion of bella. Dude she needs a freaking award. It was perfection
@@D_Nessi Bring on awards season...
I'm a CSA survivor, and I can't do it. I get flashbacks from any depiction of SA or severe violence against children. My dad had to play through this part of the game for me so that I could finish the rest of it. And I couldn't watch the end of the episode or any reactions to it. Just Creepy McGee's grooming behavior while Ellie was in the cell almost made me sick enough to tap out at that point.
At this point she should just commit to the whole Troy Barker thing 🤣
Troy Barker and Catley Johnson. 🐶 🐱
💀💀 not Catley Johnson
Any relation with Clive Barker?
@@BrienBellJTS Ashley Johnson, and she will be in next weeks episode!
When he said “baby girl I got you!” I was Immediately weeping
Ellie went full Michael Myers in that scene stab after stab also Ellie killing the original Joel was an extra touch. Kudos to Troy Baker, he was excellent in this episode
With a cleaver too. Like David himself said; Tiny little pieces.
While I agree with you for the most part, I don't think you stab with a meat cleaver
I think even Michael would step back from that.
@@TheImmortalRin No, but she did give him a few healthy "chop-chops" lol
Mary Watching Cannibalism
"This IS some wholesome community here" 🤣🤣🤣
to be fair, most of them didn't know in the community.. David was the real monster in the community
Ellie losing herself while hammering David is my all time favorite scene in the game! Bella Ramsey absolutely nailed it
"It's okay, Babygirl" That broke me. Because this is the first time you see Joel be this vulnerable with Ellie. We haven't seen that Joel since Sarah died in his arms. Such a touching moment between the two. And I really feel this is the episode Bella earned her wings. The pure rage she let out on David, with the fire burning in the background - was so good. This was a slow burn episode, but so well done. Masterful cinematography as well. Truly sets the stage for the finale. Overall, this was an excellent episode.
LKF
Troy Barker is the lesser known older brother of the popular Chewbacca who played Papa Smurf in the original TV series...
Also, Troy Baker was awesome in this episode! Next week, Ashley Johnson 😁🥳
Every time you say Barker I die a little on the inside
Same
Honestly, I am so sorry
x3
@@MaryCherryOfficial Came here to see who said this first... hehehe. Totally forgiven, Mary, We're all traumatized after this episode!
no this is by far the best episode, after watching it I bursted out “EMMY!!”🏆
Right?!??!!!
That last scene warmed my heart so much, that "baby girl". Probably my favorite touching moment yet. I could cry again
RIP "Buddy Boy" AKA Troy Barker (Baker 😛)
This was the 1st episode that made me cry as a fatherwhen he hugged her after she went thru that I felt that
As someone who's a CSA survivor and never played the game before, this episode was extra hard to get through. Poor Ellie, I'm glad she had Joel to comfort her though :/
Beautiful teary reveal of your inner child, "baby girl"!
From "You're just cargo." to "It's okay baby girl." Now that's a good character development.
This episode was incredible, Scott Shepherd was terrifying and creepy as hell as David and honestly his performance matched Nolan North for me, Bella gives probably their best performance of the entire show and with Ellie’s terror at David assaulting her was palpable and truly traumatising, seeing Troy as James was so cool and the fact that the show included him at all is amazing but of course Pedro is as awesome as ever as Joel and his brutality was on full display in this episode which matches perfectly to the game
I laughed when I saw that Troy Baker was James. Loved him as Joel in the games.
Troy Barker was his name, until he opened a bakery.
He decided he was tired of being all bark and no baguette
@@SirCaco You're no Will Livingston! 😋
@@MrPeteTheGamer Yeah, yeah, but who is?
The guy who plays Tommy in the game was also in the TV Show playing Perry, Kathleen's henchman.
That Naughty Dog Troy Barker 🐕🤣
BEST reaction to "baby girl" out of everyone so far.
You FELT that change in Joel.
I haven't cried since episode 3 but this one broke me at the end as a SA survivor myself plus Joel's "baby girl" to Ellie 😭😭😭
The voice actor who played Tommy in the game, Jeffrey Pierce, is also in the show. He was Perry in episodes 4 and 5.
I immediately knew it was Troy when he came onto screen. I've seen tons of interviews of him and making of the game, so I know who voice actors are. It's cool that he got a part on the show, really cool.
Great job Mary - I enjoy your commentary
So glad someone had the same reaction to Joel and Ellie hugging at the end!
The ending when Joe says “I got you baby girl”
3:44 looool what a deep cut of a reference. That got me good
And 8:30 , the editing is on point lol
great episode
Great Episode!
When Joel calls Ellie baby girl 😭😭
Marlene is also the voice actress and plays as herself
Troy Baker's character being killed by Ellie when he was the OG voice of Joel in the games is sad and poetic at the same time.
jeez homie. you played that rabbit clip right as I took a sip.
This episode was so good. Cannot wait for the season finale next week.
that shirt goes hard af
I was waiting 😁
"There is something fundamentally heart-murmur-inducing about a man clad in literal or emotional armor melting on the inside as he cares for a child-a sublime softening of the male exterior. So rare is the literary man brought to his knees by care for another, so hard-won the love, it’s all the more moving when it is given.
Without spoiling anything, the first season of HBO’s The Last Of Us is a study in the formation of a father-child bond between Joel (Pedro Pascal, ya daddy) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey). By the time he finally clutches her to his apocalyptic shirt and growls, “It’s okay, baby girl, I got you” and Ellie clasps her little child hands around his neck, my maternal heart leapt clean out of the water."
-Janet Manley, The Hub
Luv the show and one of the best episodes ever 💛 💙
Hi Mary ! 👋🏽😊❤
“Drag the horse” shit weighs like 1,000lbs 😂
love your tlou reaction videos.
I appreciate that
Did you notice Mary that Troy is using his Joel voice playing as James in the episode he sounded like Joel
I thought it was an interesting change having Joel find Ellie outside instead of stopping her from chopping up David's face any longer, still not sure how I feel about it. Maybe they wanted the trauma of the moment to set in more as opposed to Joel interrupting? Still, excellently done, they absolutely nailed the scene where David reveals he knows who Ellie is, my wife was on the edge of her seat from that moment onward
That was my guess too. Instead of Joel stopping Ellie physically, she has to stop herself and he was there to reassure her emotionally.
This episode was good and emotional especially when Joel told Ellie I got you baby girl love the video Mary stay motivated Dream big 1 mill on the way
Papa Joel.😢❤
This episode was amazing. Ellie proving she can handle herself. Joel wakes up becomes ruthless again. This episode had cannibals and reminded of an episode of the walking dead. Last the Jim Jones- David Koresh leader.
baby girl 😭
Baker... Troy Baker.. BAKER! LMAO Everytime she says it, it triggers me LMAO
I feel like everybody’s played this game except me😭😭but going into the show blind has been insane 🔥
13:11 My second favorite part of the episode.
Did y’all notice Jake’s was Troy Baker. The voice and motion actor for Joel in the game
They didn't have venison, but they had the 'long pig' on the menu.
8:30 NAHHHHHHHH 💀😭😭😭😭
Yoi could have cried happy tears at the end of of episode 3
You call Joel a monster, but you have to remember they took Ellie and just tried to kill him. If you break into essentially someone's home, armed, and try to kill then you get no sympathy.. and when you take someone's daughter, which is how Joel sees Ellie at this point, he'll burn the world and destroy everyone to get her back and protect her
Joel was completely justified in his actions.
The show never hid how brutal Joel could be, it was alluded to often, we just never got to see it till now
@@synaesthesia2010 Exactly. The show has actually painted Joel in a far less sympathetic light than the games.
@Shaun Andrews they definitely try to put him in a gray moral area.. much like Henry.. Joel has done some horrible things for self preservation and some bad things for good reasons.. all of this will come back full circle in the next season
To fight monsters, you have to be a monster. There's no way Joel survived as long as he did without getting his hands dirty.
Awesome reaction! I haven't played the game cause I've been on PC for ever, but deffo gonna after it's released for Steam. I'm so glad HBO is sticking to the original creators and are faithful to the source nowadays... fun fact the musical producer of the game is an AMAZING musician/producer, check out his music "Gustavo Santaolalla" he produces for mexican and argentinian rock bands, has scored a bunch of movies (all recomemded by the way) and is a founding member of a LEGENDARY band from Argentina. Dude has a cameo on The Last Of Us Part II
I started wondering after I rewatched it last night... do you think Bella struck 21 times on purpose? I mean, do you think the actress made a concious choice to work 21 strikes-to-the-dome into the scene? or it just happened that way?? Cause you really feel that "OMG Eli, you got him, run!!! ...yeah I'd probably wouldn't be able to stop either"
Theyre so good together bella and pedro in this show
Best part is Ellie sticking the cleaver into the original Joel's neck
marlene is also marlene from the game.
Ashley's role should be most dramatic if not pivotal in the last episode. I anticipate it will be a flashback on the part of a certain character and will bring the circle near to close.
Loving your reaction; sounds like an emotional roller coaster - much like this episode.
Troy Barker? ;-)
🤣
lol i was thinking it was me hearing things but apparently not :P
yes that is Troy baker indeed(= Joel(from the games)himselve and Ashley Johnson(Ellie from the games)is next as her mother, but i get you barker lol it´s amazing that just one letter makes all the difference and im portuguese(=anyone makes mistakes
Troy BARKER LMAO HE DO BE BARKING
2 of you with me… bring the horse…
The men: “you mean the 2000 pound dead horse? You want only two of us to drag it through the snow back to our settlement?”
When I saw the gameplay of the last of us to when Ellie killed David Mary you are right it was brutal in the the game and more more brutal here but I'm happy that cannibal is dead and to this day it makes me wonder what did they do with the dead deer.. I'm not going lie I wanted to tear up when Joel said baby girl to Ellie.
All things considered, Joel and Ellie probably helped this town a lot. Gave them a full deer and killed their dictator and his muscle
Except they killed most of the able men. Only remain those to young, old or weak to defend the group
@@axlm.808 they did everyone a favor
A bow is insanely hard to use, Nothing like video games, it would be unrealistic if this girl would be able to use an old wooden bow to kill a deer in the couple months she had to train
That “it’s okay baby girl” line broke so many reactors. 😊
Loved this episode! Glad you enjoyed it, too.
Also, if you think about it, eating people can be seen as a messed up communion. A little more literal than the transubstantiation the Christians have.
19 minutes in got ‘em with the 😢
That was me episodes 1,3 and 5
"We'll bury your dad in the Spring......" . Meanwhile, eat up ! there's some good eatin's tonight. lol.
Love your reaction to this insane episode.
What.. What do you call a person who bakes for living? A Barker lol 😅
RIP Joel
3:27 it's also kinda... more realistic for a novice to hunt with riffle than bow and arrow. We've seen Ellie has some training with firearm by Joel, and bow and arrow hunting is arguably more training intense than firearm.
Was hoping Troy Baker was going to be the main baddy, but cool to see him in this.
When David's men shot the horse and got Ellie, one of them said "Do It", and James was going to shoot her. I don't think they wanted to shoot her out of revenge, I think they knew what David would do to her. Like a mercy killing. That's why James wanted to just let her go earlier also
I think the Hannah/Abby parallel was just foreshadowing/an easter egg. My guess is we will see something more solid about that next episode.
4:17-4:21
While you're surprised they put down their rifles, because there are 2 of them. I need to point something out, in fact 4 things.
1. Someone shot this deer and is probably close, whomever it is has a gun (or guns)
2. She's behind them, and likely has a kill shot on one of them for all they know, when she starts giving orders
3. Just because only one person has spoken, doesn't mean that person is alone behind you. There could be 1,2 even 3 or more people, but only one is giving their position away by speaking.
4. If the person speaking wanted, they could have just shot one of you in the back from cover, and the person who isn't shot has to figure out where the shooter is, before another shot is fired.
I am not familiar in depth with Penicillin dosages, I can't take Penicillin, although I can take some related medications. The dosage is generally based on body mass (Joel would take a larger dose than Ellie) and the injectable solution _should_ have guidelines which are generic as to amount based on mass as well as frequency. Most of my experience in dosages of medication via injection are in animals, and as a rule we needed to know an animal's weight within 5 lbs (about 2.25kg) and were dealing with animals over 22kg for the most appropriate dosage. In this case, I'm pretty sure Ellie has to guess Joel's weight and I'm not sure how significant over or under dosage would be.
7:32-7:40
Or, instead of expecting the medicine to miraculously work, since she doesn't have a thermometer, she's getting a baseline temperature estimate, so when it's time for the next dose, or the one after that, she has a reference point she's consciously focused on obtaining?
If you refer back to when David had sensed doubt in James, and they were discussing how much they had left, David mentioned rabbit, venison and elk. The answer was a week, maybe two if everyone was rationing. So it _could_ be venison. [I was suspicious of it, and I didn't remember anything from the game consciously to make me suspicious of the meat]
When the meal is served and you're mentioning how everyone is hungry as...
Refer back to Ep 6, Kin. When Ellie and Joel have met up with Tommy, how both Joel and Ellie were devouring the food in front of them and Maria mentioned "There's more if you need it."
Stealth kill in the basement might have gone much differently if: a. guy had his gun with a bullet in the chamber or (an index finger move makes a loud alerting noise when the gun goes off) or b. if the guy threw his elbow back into Joel's abdomen, he would hit right on or next to the wound and the pain to Joel would be very intense.
By having the second prisoner, telling the first, "point to the locations," and warn them both "It better be the same place your buddy points to." First guy knows, unless they have a pre arranged decoy point, he better be honest, because when they don't match, you're both dead" It's similar to ep 6 with the older couple, except he didn't torture either of them.
19:02-19:05 a 12 gauge shotgun to the heart at point blank range "It's okay, baby girl" last time we hear "baby girl" from Joel was with Sarah in his arms. This shattered me. amp up all the emotions and then press the pull the trigger.
This is the episode I’ve been waiting for all season and they did such an amazing job. This was my favorite part of the game, finally getting to play Ellie and seeing her have to survive on her own and take care of Joel. Bella did such an amazing job. I can’t wait for the finale.
Troy Baker This Episode This Acting Name James He is Officially Motion Capture Actor Joel In-Game
It is crazy that they were serving the dead husband that they were mourning. David sat there and served the little girl her father calling it venison.
Another side thought. I believe that Joel called his daughter "baby girl" in episode 1. That part broke me.
Now Ellie knows how deadly the world can be compared to the infection people that are infected trying to kill you now she understands what Joel said at the campfire in the episode much worse !🥺
The scene where he said baby girl to her beautifully done brought a tear to my eye every time I hear that line
actor that played David did a freaking awesome job bringing David to life from the game this version's better than the game I like it way more the TV versions way better
shorter david: "cordyceps gave me the opportunity to finally be all i could be"
If you are talking about the boy on the episode 4 Ellie severely injured him he did not kill him so he was not the first person that Ellie killed I'd that what you meant
I really felt your tears Mary when Joel said baby girl😢 your such an amazing Cryer Mary Your emotion reactions are incredible !!!❤
We fet it mary you played the game...
3:43 Ellie would have had to steal the bow from the Native American couple she saw in Wyoming. The bow the old Native American man put down was the only that we saw in the series.
I prayed that we’d get the rabbit scene, i now lost faith in god 😂
I just kept thinking humanity had 20 years to recover and still had no gardening, hunting or foraging skills and result to cannibalism. 20 YEARS TO GET IT TOGETHER.
I wonder if we will see baby Abby in the last episode. If you know u know
I used to hate cordyceps, but then they grew on me.
You are getting the business over Troy's name but Pedro will tell you how almost nobody pronounces his name right! He's a sweetheart about it though as I'm sure Troy wouldn't mind the occasional barker 😉anyway, I really enjoy your reactions!
Oh God, Cannibal Cult Leader is totally in love with Ellie. He looks so smitten with her! Eeeeewwwwww!!!!
